It has been apparent since early March that the Democrat nominee will be decided by the super delegates because neither Obama or Clinton can reach the 2025 votes needed with pledged delegates alone.  Super delegates are free to throw...more »

  • Unfortunately the MSM and the general public are programed believe that it takes a smear to counter a smear which quickly devolved into same old same old politricks.

I think what Obama has to do is kind of like those drunken martial art grandmasters in old Asian movies. Remember those- they just have this amazing sense of the coming attack and they counter with the most elegant and economical of moves that is both awesome to the observer and bewildering to the attacker they don't even realize they've been hit and dying of massive internal bleeding.

Kind of like that. Obama is very capable of delivering the verbal "Five Finger Death Punch."

  • This is where the experience arguments fall short. The office of the POTUS is more an art than a technical exercise in public policy. So for some one well versed in policy and have a excellent aptitude for policymaking process obviously can better serve the public in congress. The presidency is more all about offering direction and influencing everyone to move in that direction. Legislative details on how this can be done is hammered out in congress any so there is no need for the president to be a policy wonk as long (s)he was enough policy wonk allies in congress to be effective.

  • I've always thought it was as simple as getting back Bill's $5 million loan. When they both privately realized they could not win (circa just two weeks or so before OH & TX), the campaign did not have the funds to pay it back. So they have to keep the campaign going in the hopes that enough donations can come in to make up the deficit. Hence, the ever changing goal post narrative- must win OH & TX, then PA, now IN in addition to other arguments about MI and FL delegates- and whatever talking points that can be feed to the media to make it seem that she still has a chance ("a tight race") and more donations as a result. The bonus in this plan is that something might actually turn up to get her the nomination.
