Afterthoughts
You know, it just hit me earlier today in the car, something I had written and said several times up to the point we are today in the presidential primary. And it strikes me funny that more people didn't think...more »

Will this finally get the PUMA's to shut the heck up?

What kind of movement would that be? As a volunteer for BHO in the Ky primary, I was more impressed by the people who came through our door and called to offer support than any other campaign I've worked for - and this is in Kentucky!

I sent an email to a guy who posted on one of the comment boards, and he emailed me back asking me to stop sending emails. These people are not interested in a debate, they are probably just republicans.

In my whole entire life as a liberal, I have yet to come across that person known as a limo liberal. And my parents are doctors. Most of the upper crust folks I know that are liberal are incredibly involved in helping the poor, giving to church social services (as in social work) and homeless shelters. But then again, I live in KY, which isn't exactly limo territory. Unless you're a stuck up rich republican's daughter or her friends out on a weekend boozer.

I'm a Democrat because when I was a wee tyke my mother always tried to make sure I gave a damn about other people. My altruism has basically matured into a political philosophy. As a polisci professor once told me, "you get off on helping others." That seemed to always align me as a Dem. However, I am always willing to hear what a republican has to say about a plan, and from time to time I will agree with them, but overall Democrats and Liberals have my interests at heart.

I tried to leave several long and articulate responses to one of their posts. They repaid my intellectual challenge by moderating them all out of existence.

So I went to the PUMA blog and posted a series of well reasoned rebuttals to some thing they had about dean and donna brazile. apparently my comments are awaiting moderation, though about 50 other comments have gone through during the time I posted 5...

I really want to edit this one and get rid of the gay couple part, if only so that I can show it to my conservative family members without me losing them at the gay part.
Other than that, I enjoyed this a lot and plan to spread it around.Posted at June 12, 2008 1:57 PM in response to I'm voting Republican!

The press always falls in love with the new cool intellectual candidate. You know, he is their kind of candidate. Go back through history. They didn't like Al Gore. They loved Gary Hart. I don't know much about gary hart, but Al Gore was certainly the intellectual candidate, though perhaps his lacking coolness bred media distaste...
