Where is Josh Marshall's essay on why he was wrong about the Iraq War?
At Slate, the big liberal hawks are posting their mea culpas about why they were wrong about the Iraq War. As Glenn Greenwald points out, none of them seem to have learned the lesson that invading a sovereign country without...more »

Is Crazy Curt Weldon still crazy?

Should Cindy McCain's Brain Damage Be A Campaign Issue?
I don't know whether Americans care if the First Lady is mentally disabled - that's a question for McCain's pollsters. What I want to know is why McCain would even subject his poor wife to the rigors of a presidential campaign and worldwide...more »

A couple of weeks ago, someone here claimed that there is a way of gaming the "recommends" but didn't say how to do it. Lately, I see a lot of recommends for posts that I know TPM Cafe readers wouldn't normally recommend.
Any thoughts?

I wish I could find the video clip online because I was quite taken aback by it. It seemed like the most obvious case of Bill Clinton race-baiting to date.
I'm almost 100% certain that he was talking to an all-white working class group of voters because he said that Hillary cared about the working people and that only wealthy people supported Obama. I think he intentionally didn't bring up black voters.

Ironically, I saw a clip of Bill Clinton today on Hardball telling voters in, I think, Indiana that Obama's supporters were wealthy.
That aside, I think there is something inherently wrong with a privately financed election.

Ageism. I don't think Josh Marshall has ever hired anyone older than himself.

No tax returns until April 15th? That gives Obama six weeks to hammer her about them. While I am sure the returns are in compliance with IRS regulations, they are bound to raise lots of questions.
From what I have read, Clinton's income has increased dramatically in the last six years. Her blue collar supporters might not be so inclined to identify with her when they see that she made tens of millions in the last couple of years.
If the Clintons have been enjoying 20+% returns from hedge fund investments and other exotic investment vehicles out of the reach of a 401(k), that also will not go over so big with her base.
Any foreign income from speeches, consultancy etc is generate media scrutiny.
Rezko, Rezko. Whitewater. Whitewater.
Obama ought to nail her on relatively unknown New Square Four scandal. Her husband pardoned four Hassidic Jews from upstate NY when it was politically expedient for his wife's senate campaign. The New Square Four were nasty lowlife crooks who stole $60 million from the NYC Board of Ed and they didn't deserve a pardon.

Jeez, I can remember when some pundits were insisting that Hillary need to take Ohio and Texas by 20%.
LOL - I wonder what Clinton spent to come up with a net gain of 10 delegates. $2 million per delegate, maybe?

Obama's biggest mistake was believing his own press and acting like the presumptive nominee. Dismissing Clinton out of hand was dumb, dumb, dumb.
His second biggest mistake was not pressing Clinton on her tax returns. Bill Clinton's financial affairs are a legitimate campaign issue and should be addressed before the convention. No October suprises, please!

I'm with you on Clinton's tax returns being a legitimate issue. Clinton should put all of her cards on the table before the convention. So far, she has had a free pass on what I consider to be one of the most potentially damaging issues in a general election.
Bill Clinton certainly has a right to earn a living but a lot of voters will be turned off if he has been paid big bucks by Middle East billionaires with ties to radical Islamists. We already know that Bill advised the Dubai company that wanted to buy US ports. I'd like to hear him say he was not paid for his advice.
For some reason, the Dems have ignored the recent NY Times and Blooomberg News stories about Bill, the Canadian financial magnate and a Central Asian dictator.
I suppose the reason that Hillary is getting a pass on Bill's financial affairs is that no Dem wants to be on record questioning a former president of the United States. John McCain and the GOP will have no such compunction.
Message to Hillary: Liberate those tax returns!
