Scarborough and Blue Collar Votes
A theme we are hearing from Joe Scarborough and several other pundits on Obama's speech was that it was brilliant but probably didn't earn him any votes in Scranton and Allentown.Point taken. However, I think Obama knew he wasn't going...more »

Obama, Wright, Graham, and the Politics of Religion

THE CLINTON TAX RETURN SHUCK AND JIVE
Senator Clinton has consistently said that she will release her tax returns at some point, once she becomes the nominee, perhaps earlier, but not before tax time, and definitely not before a hotly contested primary, but possibly on or around...more »

A sad prediction...
The Clintons are finally in the pigpen throwing slop, and are completely in their element. This has no good ending for Barrack Obama. If you cannot win the news cycle on the day you are compared to Ken Starr you...more »

RED ALERT-OBAMA'S SURROGATE EMERGENCY

The Florida/Michigan Debacle
I think Obama needs to get in front of this issue and call for new primaries or caucuses in Florida and Michigan. This problem isn't going away, and we don't need the delegations from these states storming the convention. It seems...more »

I watched this video from the lead story of CBS News
and while thrilled that this was finally getting the attention it deserved it left me with a question. The reporter who anchored this report was on the trip to Tuzla and was photographed with Hillary on the plane. Why did it take her so long to come forward with this story? Isn't this what reporters are supposed to do? You would think any journalist would salivate over this story. The Sinbad angle broke several weeks ago and Clinton made another sniper fire speech on March 17.

When Sinbad can claim to be more trustworthy on an issue in a presidential race your campaign is officially in trouble.

I've heard that quite a bit on MSNBC over the past few months. That's not much of a secret, and likely has nothing to do with this. His overseas travel is pretty well documented.

Please consider that there is no more disingenuous politician in America than Hillary Clinton. Her campaign continuously calls black white and vice versa. When an issue is politically convenient she adopts it and when it's no longer convenient it is jettisoned. The most important vote in her senate career was the vote to go to war in Iraq. She has consistently misrepresented the intention of the vote while looking for political cover.
Senator Clinton could no more give a speech on any subject with the depth, nuance, understanding, and intellecutal rigor that Senator Obama gave Tuesday than George W. Bush could.
Were there problems in Obama's message. Perhaps. But I for one accept any small problem in return for a politician with depth and grace of Senator Obama and his respect to talk to the American people honestly on a subject fraught with political minefields.

I don't know why people are surprised by this. When you only have one bullet left in your gun you are going to use it.
I'm an Obama supporter, but, frankly, I think this Pastor Wright issue is fair game to sell to the superdelegates. I mean, his damaged electability is an issue now. Personally, with a few deep breaths, Obama moves on from this and will occasionally have to deal with it in the general. But it is a problem, and any smart (losing) politico would be foolish not to use this.
Her campaign has done many slimy things throughout this primary, but I don't believe this is one of them.

A "Unity" ticket would be a disaster. Nothing in the long history of the Clintons points to Hillary (or Bill) working effectively under an Obama presidency. Both would be freelance artists and terrible headaches to the administration.
Hillary could much better serve Obama and the Democrats in the senate, and Bill could go back to re-repairing his image again.

The Clinton Campaign doesn't need a firewall it needs a fallout shelter.

If you have been following this election, at least, say, in the past month, you'll find that the Clinton Campaign has survived almost entirely on "hypothetical constructs." Howard Wolfson and Mark Penn are the best (and by best I mean worst) "hypothetical constructionist" in the business, and they have needed to be to keep their campaign from taking on the fatal, final bit of water.
