"Retrospective vetting" just doesn't do it for me.
We need to tie this back to Bush and the last eight years.
Sending Palin into the harsh media spotlight without proper vetting is just like recklessly and callously sending our troops into battle without properly armored vehicles.
If humvees can be "uparmored," then VP candidates can be "upvetted."

Given the fact that a definitive "yes, he did know before hand" would help his cause, we now know the answer twice over.

So, the suggestion is that if the teenagers did get married, that Bristol would no longer be covered undered her parent's health insurance?
Well, if they parents can't afford the bill, and the fundies are so happy about the situation, then it's time for that second collection plate to be passed around.

Rush's marital history and careful eye ("We're the ones with a babe on the ticket") are more relevent here than his history with pain-killers.
Of course, if he's vetting Cindy, it's entirely germane.

The USAToday piece on the bridge flip-flop highlights (but doesn't point out) another lie/misleading statement...she claimed in 2007 that they "cancelled all state work on the Gravina Island bridge project."
The phrase "state work" is key; as TPM noted, the access "road to nowhere" was built with use-it or lose-it federal dollars.

True irony on this point could be found on Meet The Press, where Tim Pawlenty had to defend McCain's selection, and the fact that he was passed over.
He's a loyal trooper, so he muddled through, but it had to hurt. He trumpeted Palin's chief executive experience, and Brokow didn't force Pawlenty to admit that he had far more of that than she does.

But, but, but....
McCain was "invited" to the Gulf Coast by the Republican governor of Mississippi.
Surely that governor wouldn't put politics before his constituents, right?

It was the same speech she gave in Dayton yesterday, minus the family introductions.
Best part of that MSNBC moment was watching Tom Ridge on the same stage. He didn't look very fired up, or ready to go.
Oh, and the MSNBC talking head calling her "Cheerleader-in-Chief"...that was good too.
