Executive Privilege: When the Hell SHOULD the President Invoke It?
I can't tell you how tired I am of the Bush Administration's crazy-making over the last few years. After the 2006 elections, I breathed a sigh of relief for many reasons. One of the main reasons for my relief was...more »

I firmly decided on Obama around September or October 2007 after I read his books. I thought he was brilliant and very persuasive. The main reason I decided on Obama was because I felt he was going to appeal to independents and, hopefully, Republicans more than the other Democratic candidates. It's very important to me that we get as many people in this country "on board" with a progressive "shift" in policy-making and governing.
Also, I live in Texas, and I'd LOVE to see my state go Democratic in the Presidential election this year. And I don't think Clinton would've had a snowball's chance here in Bubba Land.

I dunno. I really like saying asshole. Talented people really know how to do it justice.
Son of a bitch bugs me because it casts more shame on the mother (a woman) than it does on the man who is being reviled.
Can't we insult a guy without having to drag the slob's poor mother through the mud, too?

Ew. What a creepy story, Ripper. I would feel kinda violated if I found a creepy piece of filth like that in my mailbox! Yeeesh.
One thing I'm sure of--Nazis and skinheads and white supremacists know they aren't accepted in "polite" society. They are still forced to operate pretty much "underground." We need to keep it that way. We need to make sure we openly express our disgust with people and sentiments like theirs.

I don't visit TPM on a regular basis, so I've probably missed a lot of your posts and comments, but I've never seen anything offensive from you, Tankard. Heck, I even agree with most of what I see from you, and I don't consider myself as lefty as you claim to be. In fact, I try to avoid getting too invested in a political ideology. I'm a history student and tend to keep a very broad perspective, so I look at transient ideological trends in politics. Maybe that's why I don't have a lot of emotion invested in it. So maybe that's why I don't get angry about the stuff you say.
Here's what does make me angry: comments that are deliberately cruel, bullying, supercilious, emotionally or intellectually dishonest, or otherwise manipulative or exploitative. From what I've seen, you don't engage in any of that kind of crap, Tank.
You're okay in my book.
By the way, what's this "I will not endanger my immortal soul" stuff? You have one of those? Hell, I don't know if I have one.... Why do you get to know??
Who's the atheist and who's the Christian around here, anyway?
:-)

I do! Problem is, the only one doing the asking in a long time has been me. I never turn me down...unless I've had to much to drink or act rude or insensitive or something. But usually I'm very polite and I'm glad to accept my invitation.
