  • When I was in college, there was a candidate in a very competitive race who was giving out pizza around campus.

I ate the pizza. But I ended up voting for someone else.

  • You have to be ahead by twice the margin of error in order to have a lead outside of it. The number is the margin of error for each candidate's individual number.

  • I don't really post on Rasmussen's tracker because they use a four-day tracking sample, much less precise than Gallup's three-day period. And even this Gallup poll has some pre-primary data in there.

  • He does that so he can vote in the local primaries in DC, the one true election for municipal government.

Bob Novak does it, too, and I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of other Republican journalists do the same thing under DC's closed primary.

  • It's quite simple, actually.

Let's suppose Obama were to get really bruised over the next few weeks to the point where he consistently trailed Hillary among Dem voters, and did worse against McCain. And it's not just a slight difference, subject to future changes, but a genuine sense that he's become damaged goods. Such a scenario could potentially give a lot of moral justification for a super-delegate strategy, citing a sense of buyer's remorse.

But if Obama were to consistently lead Hillary, and do better against McCain than she does, then the super-delegate strategy doesn't really have any leg to stand on.
