Sort of ironic that this turned into one of the most commented on threads in quite some time.
I just don't believe it got this many recommendations. Cool.

I suppose I understated his constitutional law credentials a little. :)
It's difficult to keep from getting my hopes up too high on the issue. But frankly, any hope is more than I expected out of this election when the season started. In my lifetime no president has willingly taken a step to reduce power in the executive office.

IMO There isn't much comparison between the two speeches (Cosby/Obama) except they both advocated more engagement from AA fathers.
I was blown away that Obama had the courage to make the speech. I just kept thinking "This guy's running for president?" Every time I think he's done doing startling but positive things and getting ready to settle into a normal campaign, he surprises me again.
I have gone from being an Edwards supporter who viewed Obama as an acceptable second choice to a fully impressed supporter. And I keep being surprised.
I know he does a lot of work on the speeches himself, but I also know he has writers he works with. I'd love to know who wrote this one also.

I think this was great. It gives the media something to chew on during what is really a political lull where their idle hands can do much mischief. Especially after the last news cycles have been mourning Russert, this recasts the next week's coverage in a direction positive for Obama.
Obama didn't need to spend this endorsement to win the Primary, so it now adds to momentum in the general.

I'm actually happy to hear what she's up to. I didn't like the "analysis" of Hillary's media coverage - that was BS on so many levels, but at least this is a factoid. It probably could have waited until the call actually occurred though (now Greg is going to get flamed for reporting the actual results of the call tomorrow).
Personally, I was wondering if she was MIA. I didn't expect her to hit the trail with Obama, but it really felt like she whipped up all this hate and anger, gave a quickie speech, and left all that angst just floating. It sort of seemed like she wasn't doing diddly/squat to help Obama deal with it. If that's not the case than I'm glad to hear it.
Greg: IMO, you are suffering a backlash from this morning's ... uummmm ... you know .... "analysis" (as well you should)

The speech itself was pretty darn good. I never liked Gore much, but that was a pretty good speech.
I think Gore probably has the ability to draw a pretty good crowd of his own, and apparently can be a pretty forceful voice. This can only be a good thing if he's going to stump for Obama.
Gore stayed out of the primary stuff, so while he may not fix any anger problems he sure doesn't engender them. I'm surprised by the general attitude on this, it's great media - a huge story in a dull stretch on the way to the convention. This reclaims the spotlight in a positive way after a media cycle spent almost entirely on mourning Russert. IMO it puts McCain further on his back foot.

It was one hell of an endorsement speech. It really spoke to the experience criticism. Any way it goes, If Gore stumps like THAT for Obama more this campaign, it will be exciting to watch!
Do you really think Gore is viable as VP? I still can't quite get my head around the idea enough to come up with an opinion either way.
