Steve, correct if I'm wrong, but you've backed Hillary from before this campaign started, yes? When I sat next to you on the Acela from NY to DC, before the campaign started, you seemed very bullish on Hillary's chances and tight with many of her advisors.
So, while you think HRC's campaign has been poor, you've always preferred her to Obama, yes?

I read this as yet another news cycle of coverage about Wright's statements, this time even louder than previously. As such, the benefit Obama will likely take from the speech -- apart from having pleased the small % of the electorate that actually heard it -- is that the media may now turn the page and allow the discussion to continue on subjects other than race.
I wouldn't have expected any bounce from taking a day to courageously discuss such a difficult subject.

Principled speech. From everything we have seen, this guy is a cool cucumber, which speaks so well of his leadership qualities.
He is already up in the latest polls, has not suffered serious political damage, as the media seems to have believed certain.
This speech provides the news peg for recognizing that Obama is still standing, only now even taller.
