Means and Ends
I begin with the premise that all Democrats want a fighter in the White House. A more progressive agenda will not come easily.Hillary supporters take pride in the fact she is "a fighter," which is undeniable. As recent examples, her wins...more »

Why should we be hating on Edwards for coming out late? Maybe he and his wife didn't agree on candidates so he held out until it was essentially over. Or, he genuinly wanted to let the candidates battle it out themselves, then step in at a time when he could help heal the party pre-convention. Both are plausible, and understandable. Now, he could certainly have been merely hedging, but, whatever, better late than never. Lets happily accept the support, give him the benefit of the doubt, and hope he's a vocal advocate in the coming battle against the Repubs.

Chalk these guys up as two dudes that are afraid of seeing Rev. Wright clips used against them in November. I can understand taking care of #1, but at this point it seems like SDs supporting her are part of the problem rather than the solution (problem being interparty fighting, solution being turning our attention to the general).

With all due respect, I think she's been jump roping a shark for well over a month now.

The whole shock and outrage over their income is a little baffling. I'd be more interest in shady sources of money etc, which will take some digging before/if it comes out.
CEOs, Ballplayers, Actors, etc. make that kind of money and we don't blink. Bill and Hillary have risen to the top of a very competitive profession and staid there for a long time. They aren't some utility outfielder who is cut after 2 seasons after making league minimum. The fact that they have made a good amount of money based on their success is unsurprising.
We can certainly condemn the disparity in wealth between the haves and have notes. But, we've supported John Edwards when he was attacked for his hair cut and trial-lawyer millions, and Al Gore was critizised for the electicity it takes to power his mansion (dubious). Why throw the Clintons under the bus for their success? If Edwards can champion poverty with his bank roll, why should the Clintons be condemned just because of their financial success?

After sleeping on this, I'm going to have to back-track slightly and admit that the greatest training montage has to go to Daniel Laruso on the beaches of SoCal.

I'm glad your post isn't anti-Rocky. He's been taking too much guff around here lately. Lets not ruin his good name just because Hillary thought him a convenient analogy.

I was with you until you turned on Rocky and called the original a B movie. But, the nail in the coffin was bad mouthing Rocky IV, a movie only a commie could diss ... except for the fact that even the commies in the movie gave Rocky a standing ovation after he knocked out Drago. Rocky IV included not only the greatest training montage of all time (Rocky in the Siberian snow), but also had the greatest victory speech ever delivered:
"I came here tonight and I didn't know what to expect. I've seen a lot of people hating me and I didn't know what to feel about that, so I guess I didn't like youse much none either. During this fight I seen a lot of changing: the way youse felt about me and the way I felt about you. In here there were two guys killing each other. But I guess that's better than 20 million. What I'm trying to say is ... that if I can change ... and you can change ... everybody can change!

Dude, did you miss Rocky II? Or how about Rocky IV when Rocky KOs Ivan Drago, in Russia, in front of a bunch of commies, and gets them to give him a standing ovation ... and he was only fighting in the first place to avenge Apollo who had been killed in the ring by Drago.
Say what you will about Hillary but leave Rocky out of this.
