If you want to reduce poverty, you focus on a good education, good health care and a good job.... If you want a stable middle class.... If you want to have citizens who can participate in democracy.... And if you want to end the violence … you could build a million new prisons and you could fill them all up, but you will never end this cycle of violence unless you invest in the health and the skill and the intellect and the character of our children — you focus on a good education, good health care and a good job! Then again, Hackman was in film called "Loose Cannons". Hmmm.
Also he was in "First to Fight"...
Then too "A Covenant with Death"
...."Bite the Bullet"
..."A Bridge Too Far"
..."March or Die"
..."Misunderstood"
..."Extreme Measures"
..."Absolute Power"
Are we seeing a pattern here.
Will Gene Hackman be available to play McCain in his bio pic?Posted at April 10, 2008 10:00 AM in response to It's Not "Rocky", It's "Crimson Tide"

I know Gene Hackman.
And you, Mr. McCain, are no Gene Hackman.Unless, you were thinking of Hackman's role in Young Frankenstein.

One other thing that saddens lots of Minnesotans; what we had:
If you want real welfare reform, you focus on a good education, good health care and a good job....

If you want a stable middle class....

Paul WellstoneAnd what did we end up with?

Quick Minnesota history lesson.
Al Franken grew up in St. Louis Park, MN, and went to NY to become a star on Sat. Night Live and an author. He moved back a about 3 years ago, I think. He has always been a progressive with strong Minnesota roots.
Norm Coleman grew up in New York and was a Democrat. He became mayor of St. Paul and changed parties. He brokered the building of the Excel Energy Center arena. When the GOP comes to town for their convention, watch him take lots of bows. What is the definition of carpetbagger????Posted at March 24, 2008 9:16 AM in response to Rasmussen: Sen. The sooner Franken can campaign on Norm Coleman's record and close ties to Bush, the better. Coleman is basking in the "Surge is Working" myth that is currently being promoted by the administration. Also as the economy worsens, Franken will have more ammunition to show Coleman's voting for corporate interests as opposed to helping Minnesotans.

Bravo on this post: just the words in the title...
"President Barack Obama" make me feel so much better, than having to hear eight years of "President" George Bush.
Besides these wonderful three goals, I cannot wait to see a Cabinet made up of positive, progressive, intelligent, and COMPETENT heads of departments who will actually work for citizens, not cronies, corporations or themselves.
I cannot wait to see some relativity painless adjustments to the funding of Social Security so it healthy for decades.
I cannot wait for our standing in the world to rise as we have real State Department based on actual diplomacy, not air travel.
I cannot wait for a return to our Constitution and the separation of powers for its three branches. A Justice Department and Supreme Court interested in justice. A Congress interested in acting on behalf of the citizens. And a President who will not mislead and actually lead.
How many more months?
President Obama has many things he can and will accomplish. Let's get going.

If this financing scheme works for a US Senator from Arizona, it should work for an average Joe. I think this a great way to finance things. How about if I apply for a big mortgage, and promise to pay with my winnings from the lottery, if I win? If I don't win the lottery, I still get to keep the money. The Lincoln Savings and Loan Association might be a good place to apply. I heard its President, Charles H. Keating Jr.m is nice guy and knows John McCain personally.
