  • AP On McCain: We're Loven It!

Yesterday we flagged the AP's Jennifer Loven's 'analysis' piece flogging the McCain/RNC spin on Obama's run to the center. Well, as every crack communication operation knows, message repetition is the key to success. And so today we have another 'analysis'...more »

  • Sigh, we don't go around banning people for saying things we disagree with or even things we find a bit offensive. The banning is pretty few and far between and it's reserved for people who are consistently violating the terms of use -- which inmost cases means abusive language, intentionally disrupting conversation, hate speech, etc.

  • Ahoy MassDem, I've told Lila that I want to up the vigilance for rule-breaking here at TPMCafe. But our rods of correction are limited to corrective emails and banning. What you're describing isn't any sort of banning or punishment, to the best of my knowledge. That's the response you get in comments if the spam filter suspects it's seeing spam. Putting in lots of urls can trip it off, and various other stuff. So this is either a glitch affecting your account or your putting in some sort of funky characters of lots of urls that's tripping the alarm. I'd shoot lila an email. lila (at) you know what and see if she can figure out what's up. Josh

  • Now that you've mentioned it, I'm going to sit down with Andrew and give it another look and try to see if we can get to the bottom of what happened. But I assure you, no one on the staff has ever knowingly taken down a Coffee House post, though we occasionally take down individually comments for violating the TOS -- foul language, hate speech, etc. In any case, we'll give it a look and report back. All I would ask is that on these various different grounds, I'd ask people at least assume things are errors until we have a chance to answer/explain. Most of the issues like this are either misunderstandings or problems caused by our staff being stretched thin. Josh

  • This is not true. If you're the one who's asked about the issue with MJ's post, you haven't been ignored. We've been very clear that we've never taken down one of MJ's posts. If one's have disappeared it's been a matter of a technical glitch, not editing on the staff's part.
