  • Wasn't this Teddy Roosevelt's foreign policy motto:
"Talk softly - but carry a big stick"?
Looks to me as if Obama understood this wise strategy, and Hillary, like most of the GOP, doesn't; these guys prefer to talk loudly and carry a small stick.

  • I see 2 major reasons for the increasingly anti-Obama bias of the MSM:
    1.
A horserace helps them sell newspapers, airtime and advertising.

    2.
But I suspect there's something more sinister at play:
Obama is the only candidate seriously threatening the entrenched political and - more importantly - economic beneficiaries of the status quo. They know that McCain will be in their pocket and HRC can be (or already has been ) bought.
These extremely powerful interests rather want to avoid the risk of a McCain-Obama face-off, and prefer to eliminate the latter already in the primaries.
I hope I'm wrong, but I would not be surprised if, should Obama prevail against HRC, these powers will do absolutely anything to keep Obama out of the White House, incl. physical harm.
    My 2 cents.

  • You have to be understanding of poor Debbie Wasserman-Schulz's dilemma:
The $'s she needs for her political career
in South Florida come to a large degree from the extremist, hardline but wealthy and influential
first wave Cuban immigrants, who secretely pine for the good ol' days under Battista (two GOP members of congress, Lincoln and Mario Diaz-Balart are sons of the dictator's former interior minister).
This honorable group has one main objective: stave off any normalization in relations between the US and Cuba. To that effect since decades they hedge their bets by also bribing, er financing, key Florida Democrats. The Fanjul brothers, who control the Florida sugar industry and are prominent Cuban exiles, contributed to Bill Clinton's campaigns. Hillary most likely is now a happy recipient of their largesse, and reciprocates with a duly hardline stance on Cuba.
Now for the first time Cuban exile hardliners are
facing a real threat in the shape of Obama, who is likely to weaken the counterproductive embargo against the island.
Which explains the ferocious efforts to eliminate him from the game and leave only two reliable allies (i.e. McCain + HRC) as contenders in November.

  • The Clintons are hopeless;
First, after Richardson endorsed Obama, they claim his endorsement has no value.
Now, they talk about little else.
Come on guys, grow up - or at least get coherent.

  • I fail to understand how no one ever objects to the branding of Obama as 'African-American' and as 'black' and nothing else.
The man has a white mother, so by definition he is as 'white' as he is 'black', and from the other side of the color spectrum real African-Americans could call him 'white'.
Not that his skin color makes any difference to me - I think he's the most qualified to lead the country, period.
But I suspect that categorical 'black' label puts him at a disadvantage in the subconscious of not a few white US voters.

  • It's clear Hillbilly will not bow out gracefully.
But that's actually to the best: the longer she fights on in her increasingly quixotic effort, the less leverage and influence she will retain when this is over - no discussion any more about VP slot, senate majority leader etc. Which is great because it will allow president Obama to implement his pro citizen/anti corporatist agenda to the benefit of the country without being sabotaged by a 5th column.
