  • If it's not time when Bush's approval rating is under 30%, I don't know when it would be time. Obama's bigger challenge is to become more convincing on the economy and if it's time for him to give in a bit on anything, he ought to nod in Hillary's direction on universal health care (but make sure it's not universal care for health care industry lobbyists).

Democrats need to get rid of their Stockholm syndrome. When the other guy's approval rating is twenty-something you stop apologizing.

  • I have a hard time seeing how it's good for Israel to be linked with the most unpopular American President since, well since I don't know when, and to be framed against the candidate who is attracting such enthusiasm among Americans.

  • Get in their face. Tar them with the war. Turn the fear against them for a change - blame them for the next war, blame for the cost of this war and then next war. Blame the bad economy on the war. Blame them for the recklessness and folly. A little isolationism is not all bad either. Doesn't play all that badly west of the Mississippi.

  • Right! Let them bring up the war all they like. Obama should never let Americans forget who got us into this mess nor should he forget to remind them how much it costs.

  • Thanks, Senator Kerry. My WWII veteran father was impressed with your campaign in Iowa, particularly how you understood the plight of the Iowa National Guard and its substantial losses in Iraq.

  • Not only is Peoria in Illinois it's in the middle of America and the war is NOT popular in the middle west. Chris Matthews may be correct when he says Hillary lost the nomination with her Iraq vote. I don't think Obama is going to lose many votes out here speaking out strongly against the reckless warmongering that got us into Iraq.

  • Ending the war "responsibly" -- in other words, if I get the nomination I'll pivot to the right and I won't end the war because I won't be responsible.
