With ‘Super Tuesday’ behind us, we have a chance to take a look at how all the pollsters performed. Before throwing up numbers, I’d like to outline my approach to evaluating pollsters' performance. .#1: QUANTIFYING PERFORMANCEHow do we represent how...more »

Cool. So we're looking at a 51+1 - 47+1 Senate for 2009.

Excuse me, but do you see anyone calling the cops or the military to shut down 527s? Can McCain appeal to his supporter's higher instincts? Last I checked, appealing to the better angels in people's nature wasn't a crime. Of course, I understand that for Clinton folk a campaign without sleaze and deceit isn't worth running.
p.s: Isn't it time you became a Republican already?

Given McCain attempts to paint himself with a reformist brush, the Dems should tie him to every sleazy 527 that is funded by one of this bundlers. Push this issue hard and force McCain to reject money from such groups engaged in swiftboating. That way, funds are choked off to the 527s or McCain's campaign.

"I have instructed all of our campaign's biggest contributors to refrain from funding 527 attack groups. I believe they are a blight on the election season and destructive to the political process in this country.
As Senator McCain is fond of saying, he intends to run an honorable campaign. If he is indeed serious about doing so, I ask that he, like myself, request his biggest donors to refrain from funding 527 attack groups.
Yes, its true that Senator McCain might not be able to control these groups. But how will he know until he tries? Is this how the McCain White House will operate? Let the special interests run roughshod over his agenda because he can't control them?
Senator McCain, as his campaign is fond of saying, is a candidate people can believe in. If this is true, what does it tell you when his biggest boosters don't believe in his campaign enough to follow Senator McCain's lead? A leader or someone who passes the buck when it suits him politically? We will find out soon enough."

This is one thing I'd like to see the Obama team and surrogates hammer McCain on. Its about leadership.

This is why party labels are useless. What is the breakdown in terms of pro-healthcare positions. Or pro-environment positions?
Clinton takes a lot of heat for the '94 mid term losses. But few people bother to note that the kinds of Democrats we lost were Dan Boren clones. It blows my mind that Clinton gets blamed for the Democrats losing those seats. We've re-fashioned our caucus in a more progressive mold and are finally in a position to achieve real progress.

Calm down folks. Dan Boren is barely a Democrat.

Read his wiki. This guy still supports the Bush's Iraq adventure. Hell, be glad he isn't supporting Obama.

There also a drawback for McCain. Given Obama's internet fundraising prowess, he doesn't need to maintain an aggressive fundraising schedule. McCain does. Sure, McCain gets a boost in publicity now. But he'll be way behind in the money race by the time the townhalls are done.

I agree but for different reasons.
1) Given McCain's dependence on RNC checks and maintaining a fundraising schedule, debates will keep him away from raising money.
2) Its a nice chance to expose McMaverick for the b.s that he spouts.
Wait till July, by when McCain will practically be begging for debates. Lower expectations and knock him out.

I say do it. But not in June. Build an insurmountable cash advantage and drive things to the point where McCain is begging for a debates. Lower expectations and call him out on his bullshit policies.
p.s: Can Obama get a new debate prep team? Paging Ron Klain!
