No way Palin gets out of the debate... McCain may try but it won't fly. Can you imagine the uproar? It will so blatantly be about shielding Palin that the McCain campaign may risk losing coverage. I'd even think the GOP powers-that-be - those with no connection to the Eagle Forum or Dobson, that is - would howl in horror.

I beg to differ. Palin is so far to the right, she makes 43 look like Arlen Specter.

We can't forget that Obama sought out Lugar as a mentor on foreign policy. This morning, MSNBC reported that Obama sought Lugar's advice as to a VP. He gave one name: Joe Biden.

This may very well be good news for Obama. McCain desperately needs to come up with new material with which to hit Obama. If not, I just don't see the American public putting up with this crap for long. They'll simply be bored to tears.
After Labor Day, McCain needs to start running on the issues. If not, he will suffer the same fate as the last candidate who believed they could take down Obama with personal attacks: Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Chicago, LIBERAL? You must be joking. Considering that I've lived here for 12 years, after spending the previous 35 in the SF Bay Area, I know what's liberal and what's not.
Yes, Chicago votes heavily Democratic, but it's headed by Emperor Daley. My first 6-1/2 years in Chicago were spent in Daley's home 'hood - Bridgeport. (Rent was dirt-cheap at the time.) Nearly all my neighbors were registered Democrats but they also were anti-choice, pro-military/Iraq, and anti-black. Asians and Hispanics were tolerated in the neighborhood - which has since been far more integrated, racially and economically. African-Americans, though, are still unwelcome. A few months after I moved in, a 13-year-old black kid was nearly beaten to death around the corner. Why? He had the temerity to ride his bike at night through the neighborhood.
Trust me, the Iraq war was very popular in many Chicago neighborhoods.

Go, Joe!!!
Besides, despite all his demurrals, if Biden is not Obama's VP pick, he'll more than likely get his wish and head State.
Personally, though Biden's presidential campaign may not have ended as he'd hoped, I do think it was a brilliant move. It has certainly raised his not-inconsiderable profile nationwide. He's a good guy. Sure, he's tripped up, but he's always owned up to his mistakes. His biggest mistake was not standing up to HRC one year ago as she ran on the lie that she was the most-experienced candidate. Biden, Dodd and Richardson - hell, even Kucinich - were too well-mannered to call her on it.

If I could advise the Obama campaign, I'd suggest they hit McCain on fiscal responsibility.
The McCains have a combined personal fortune of nine figures yet carry six-figure debt. The Obamas are certainly wealthy but carry zero debt. They've reportedly always lived well within their means.
If, as reported, Rick Warren gets personal with the candidates, this is what I'd love him to address.
