Whoa, get a gander at those new Rasmussen swing-state polls! Up 7 in Florida, 6 in Colorado, and taking the lead in friggin' Missouri by 3!

Thumbs up on the CNN poll! Third one out today (along w/Gallup and Rasmussen) that shows an 8-point Obama lead.

Great news! Anybody else catch Steve Lombardo's analysis of the election in general over at Pollster.com?

Yeah, Brokaw worries me too. Talk about bias! Is he doing the town-hall or the last one?

Halperin admits he graded her on a curve?
For God's sake, people, this is a U.S. presidential election--not junior-high remedial social-studies class!
As someone noted elsewhere, maybe Palin re-energized the GOP base, but Biden sure as hell got me fired up. I was cheering and hollering every time he came through with a great point or comeback... he handled himself really well in a difficult situation and seemed utterly presidential. Palin seemed like a mediocre Alaskan TV personality.

Also, possibly worst Palin moment of the night: "I've only been at this for five weeks." Borderline disastrous gaffe that will resurface in the media in days to come...she unwittingly reinforced one of the central skepticisms about her.

Forget the Palin "expectations" meme...for me, it was Biden who far surpassed expectations. I thought he was close to perfect, given the situation he was walking into (an opponent who would be declared a moral victor if she simply managed to speak and not slobber on herself). And look at that MediaCurves poll...clearly, Biden won the independents going away. At best, Palin stops the bleeding of the GOP base and perhaps keeps McCain from continuing to freefall in the polls. At best. She sure didn't do anything to reassure indie/undecided voters. As distance is gained on this debate, Biden will look better and better. She hardly ever answered the questions! Good gawd, she was given such a pass, what with no followup and all...she kept babbling about energy policy even when it had nothing to do with the topic, winked (!) and also waaaaaay overdid her trademark folksiness. What was authentic to begin with now sounds very self-conscious and forced...and not as effective.
Count me as a Democrat who was very, very concerned about a Palin comeback narrative emerging from tonight's debate, and who feels better and better about what went down as I think back on it (and look at the polls coming out). If Obama can hold his own in next week's town hall, I'll REALLY start to feel good about where we're heading.

As others point out above, McCain could win ALL SIX of those states and still lose if Obama simply holds onto the Kerry states and adds IA, CO, and NM. What's their grand plan to combat that scenario?

OK, after reading some posters' comments over at Kos, I can see McCain perhaps making a legitimate play for WI as well (when it comes to 2004 blue states). Kerry and Gore did just eke out wins there in '04 and '00. I think Obama still carries the state, but I suppose WI can be added to the potential-blue pickup states for McCain. I really think PA is falling out of contention for him, though, and I still like Obama's possible road-to-victory much better than McCain's right now.
