Hillary lied about criticizing the war before Obama, even if you start counting in 2005
In a speech in Oregon, Hillary tried to get away with a fast one by saying that she criticized the war in Iraq before Obama did if you only include the time they were both in the Senate in 2005....more »

Gallup poll: Obama now up 52-42, largest lead ever
After trailing by 7 in the immediate aftermath of the Wright controversy, Obama has been surging ever since his historic speech on race and is now leading up 10 points, his largest lead ever in a national Gallup poll. http://www.gallup.com/poll/105841/Gallup-Daily-Obama-Now-52-Clintons-42.aspx...more »

McCain doesn't know if contraceptives stop spread HIV, can't remember his position on it
This might be the beginning of the unraveling for McCain. It may sound like something out of the Onion, but it's for real. http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/03/16/mccain-stumbles-on-hiv-prevention/ Reporter: “Should U.S. taxpayer money go to places like Africa to fund contraception to prevent AIDS?”...more »

Obama: "judge me on what I've said in the past and what I believe."
There has been quite a bit of hyperventilating lately about Jeremiah Wright, the former pastor at Obama's church. The media, led by Fox News, has been searching through all of Wright's past sermons to find something potentially controversial. They have...more »

Simple solution for superdelegates: Vote for whoever wins the most pledged delegates
There's quite a bit of talk about how superdelegates should handle their role in the primary process. MoveOn is currently circulating a petition that reads "The Democratic Party must be democratic. The superdelegates should let the voters decide between Clinton...more »

No, it's right on time. Some of the people who read these blogs get too worked up about these things, expecting an immediate response and stressing out if it doesn't come. Most people aren't paying that close attention to this stuff. And if you respond too fast, the response gets lost in the initial charge. That's why you wait a little bit and then go on the offensive. That's what Obama just did.

Is this a Democratic blog? It doesn't say so anywhere on the site.
They certainly haven't done anything to show that they're Democrats with their coverage of this election.Posted at May 16, 2008 11:00 AM in response to Election Central Commenters Make News!

McCain is a complete joke. He's flip-flopped on virtually every single issue over the past few years. Every one except Iraq. He still has his rose-colored glasses on for that one.

Greg,
Another related story on this topic is about how factcheck.org, a supposedly nonpartisan site, has not done a factcheck on John McCain in months despite offering dozens of articles on Obama and Clinton.Posted at April 29, 2008 10:53 AM in response to Brock's Third-Party Group Launches "McCain Fact-Check" Site

Seriously, according to Stephanopoulos, there are no major policy differences between the candidates and so this is the kind of thing he thinks the media should be asking. At least when it comes to Obama.
Let's see if they hold Hillary to the same standard now that she's claiming that she's got all the momentum.

But now it's out there. So the question is whether the media will be fair and balanced and ask these questions of Hillary.

Merle, this has nothing to do with how well the Clinton campaign plays the expectations game. It has to do with how bad the media is at providing honest and accurate analysis. Whether because of their incompetence or desire to keep the primary going (and the ratings/readership it brings in), they have clearly failed.

The people who make posts like that, saying they're going to make their voting decisions based on what anonymous people on the internet say, are either trolls or complete idiots. I tend to think they're the former, but the latter is the only other possibility.

Eric,
Maybe you should mention something about how this goes directly against what McCain has said in the past about guilt by associations?
That is, if you and TPM, are actually progressive and not just another flavor of the usual conservative mainstream media.

Outstanding ad. Put the focus on the issues, not all this BS about bitterness, Wright, and Rezko.
Americans don't care about that stuff. They want to know about where the candidates stand on the issues and what they'll do for them. This is what Obama needs to close with in PA.
