The McCain Header at the Top of this Page!
Anyone care to comment on the McCain advertisement that periodically appears at the top of this page? Kudos to TPM for scoring some more revenue, but does anyone here think this is an effective place to advertise? Are they trolling...more »

Obama Wins NC, but MSNBC . . .
MSNBC declared for Obama at 7:32 and then immediately began to contemplate what would happen if Clinton wrested the nomination away from him. "Would African-American voters feel disenfranchised? Would they vote for her in the Fall?"What's up with this bullshit?!? ...more »

Does anyone know why Obama's many supporters aren't out there holding meetings and rallies for him? (Or perhaps they are?)Hillary's got Bill and Chelsea working overtime (which may not be helpful), but wouldn't this be a good time for Ted...more »

The Archetypal Wright
I've been struggling to make sense of Rev Wright's remarks at the National Press Club yesterday. In one sense Wright was performing as the clown prince of theology, the Dizzy Gillespie of activist Christianity. Great performance, Reverend, but this wasn't...more »

Candidate Schedules
I've been interested to follow the candidate schedules on the right of the TPM page. Does anyone notice that Obama seems to be doing only one or two events a day? Hillary seems like she's putting in twice as many appearances,...more »

Disappointing Results in Bucks County
Lots of people expected Clinton to do well in rural counties, but I am dismayed by how well she did in Bucks County, a relatively affluent county north of Philadelphia that traditionally votes liberal. These numbers give me serious pause:Obama 42,869 ...more »

Stephanopoulos's Hypocrisy
There's been a lot of press about George Stephanopoulos's defense of Wednesday night's debate. He has dubiously claimed that the questions were fair and foremost in the minds of voters. But the former key member of President Clinton's team was...more »

I'm confused why people are so worried about the coordination angle. I mean, of course these guys are coordinating with each other. Why make a big deal denying it?
What's funny is that McCain is so prickly on the subject. If he'd just shut up about it, he'd pretty much win the Commander in Chief portion of the contest.

To borrow from Bill Clinton, Castellanos is a scum bag, and he's working hard to find something to reverse the trend. I don't know why anyone would put him on tv, let alone repeat his stupid comments.

This is a stirring piece Deanie. I hope it will stay on the Recommended List for several days as it deserves a wide audience. I encourage you to send a copy to your local paper and see if they will print it in full. You might also send it to NPR. We need more people to read essays as smart and moving as this one is.

Yup, I noticed that adverb too. Team Obama seems so well-organized; it is hard to imagine them doing anything "hastily" -- other than finding where ESPN is on the hotel television set.

Olbermann is fun to watch when you agree with him, but his show is more entertainment than serious discussion. Matthews needs a lot of straw men to look smart, and he constantly interrupts. He'd have politicians on the ropes and then give them 20 seconds to catch their breaths while he answers his own question. I know Gregory was the WH reporter, be he just seems like a lightweight to me.
I'm interested in Mitchell. She's earned the mantle of respectability. Chuck Todd is a fascinating choice. He's become the break out star of the primary. (One wonders if this could be another case of an older, more experienced woman being trumped by a younger, newcome man.)
Thinking outside the box, I'm going to suggest Gwen Ifill. She interviews well, has lots of gravitas, and she would be a major change.
