  • NPR covers it today:

Election 2008 Group with Clinton Ties Behind Dubious Robocalls by Peter Overby

All Things Considered, May 1, 2008 · Thousands of North Carolina residents answered their telephones last week to hear this message, delivered in a deep, soothing voice:

"Hello. This is Lamont Williams. In the next few days, you will receive a voter registration packet in the mail. All you need to do is fill it out, sign it, date and return the application. Then you will be able to vote and make your voice heard. Please return your registration form when it arrives. Thank you."

In fact, the deadline to register for the May 6 Democratic presidential primary had already passed. The robocall went to many registered voters who were expecting to vote that day. The call and follow-up mailings left many wondering whether they were registered for the primary or not.

  • Facing South is the authoritative source of reporting on this issue.

The NC AP did a report that covered everything except the political connections to the Clinton campaign.

Here is an update from Facing South, book mark their site and check frequently:

May 1 Update from Facing South: "...In North Carolina, Women's Voices has been conducting a robo-call and mailing campaign that the state Attorney General has confirmed is illegal, that has been secretive and deceptive, and will likely have the effect of confusing and discouraging North Carolina voters.....Women's Voices is made up of some of the most seasoned and sophisticated political operatives in Washington."

  • The effect of Wright's media blitz is to knee cap Obama.

Wright is a very intelligent man, he has to know he is causing Obama harm.

Judge his actions and the damage they cause and quit blaming the media.

A smart man knows when to talk and when not to talk.

He has helped McCain and Clinton more than anyone except himself, who he is helping financially.

Why does a man of God need a multi million dollar home paid for out of tythes?

  • Does anyone know who is planning to publish Wright's book?

Or anything about the publishing company?

Who is pushing Wright's "media blitz"?

Posted at April 28, 2008 10:17 PM in response to Pastor Wright, are you trying to Damn Obama and America?

  • Oh, and its not "hundreds of thousands" of voters in NC.

Here's the stats from the NC SBOE website today:

    Democratic: 2,622,596
    Republican: 1,933,865
    Unaffiliated: 1,242,195
    Total: 5,798,656

    http://www.sboe.state.nc.us/

During the first three months of this year, a little more than 165000 people have registered to vote in North Carolina. http://www.wdnweb.com/articles/2008/04/26/news/news01.txt

  • No they don't. And the media here wants to keep the gravy train rolling as long as they can.

Why doesn't the Obama campaign or some 527 send out a press release or start writing op/eds?

    Thats what is needed.

I called the Obama campaign office in my home town, and even the volunteers were ignorant about this math issue. Sheesh.

If people knew the truth, it could drive Clinton's numbers way down.

But now she has the latest Jeremeiah Wright promotional tour to bask in - this is going to be bad for Obama in NC.

We have alot of GOP who switched parties to vote in our primary, and plenty of them are racist.

It sounds like Obama did very well. Read what conservative Dean Barnett at the Weekly Standard had to say. It is mostly positive although Barnett throws some zingers. You can watch the show at this link to decide for yourself.

    Obama Does Fox!

It seems like a long time ago that Barack Obama delivered these stirring words in the wake of his victory in the Iowa caucuses:

OBAMA BRAVELY ENTERED the lion's den this afternoon, daring to answer questions from the ferocious Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday. People who have lives and don't set their Sunday plans around the Beltway weekend chat-fests are probably wondering how he did. (I'm sure our Sonny Bunch will be along shortly with his take.)

I say Obama did quite well for himself. Earlier today, I posted something that analogized Obama to Ronald Reagan. Well, brace yourself, because here comes another Reagan/Obama comparison. When Reagan ran against Jimmy Carter in 1980, the most common charge that Reagan had to handle was that he was a crazed warmonger who couldn't wait to blow up the world. The best way for Reagan to counter these charges was to appear on TV and let his natural affability shine through. The narrative that Reagan's foes peddled didn't square with the genial 69 year-old candidate who popped up in America's living rooms.....
