Maybe I am missing something or one of you can help explain to me.
But doesnt FISA state that Telecom companies will gain immunity protection(from a civil court) but it DOES NOT state that for a Criminal prosecution, right?
So, telecom companies can be prosecuted in a criminal court still, just not a civil court. But they still get prosecuted.

This was in response to Louis
White flight in the north or riots against busing in Boston aren't evidence of Dominance of racism in those areas? Do the kids in and around the Cabrini area get to go to school with the kids in Libertyville? I think not.
Not sure why it replied all the way down here, to this one :(

Racism in Boston is NOTHING like Racism in the South.
I have lived in both. I have had the treatment of both.
For the MOST part Boston in itself isnt very racist. In the 80's and early 90's you would be more likely to find it in South Boston where it was predominately white, but for the most part(not saying all) you didnt see or hear much of it by the time 95/96 rolled around.
When it comes to the out skirts of Massachusetts, in the SUBURBS, yeah you can will find it. But it was mostly a older ignorant attitude towards new people, new races coming into the neighborhoods. You might have people say some derogatory remark to you, or feel as if they treat you differently than what you know they would treat someone white. But thats about as far as it will get. I am not getting into what happens when a argument starts and who will start flinging the "N" word around and the like. Yeah that kind of racism is kind of everywhere.
In the south, they will sick their dog on you when you walk passed their house.
In the South, they will see you, and go get friends to follow you in hopes of getting a good ole fashion "lynching" and this was as of 2000, 2001.
You can find this attitude in Virginia, West Virginia, Georgia(rural), Northern Florida, outside Gainesville. But Racism in the North is NOTHING like in the South. Anyone who has been through it knows that.

Good post sir.
I want to repost something I put into one of the more aggressive-whining posts around here with a few edits:If he shoots the entire bill down, over this aspect(telecom immunity) then what happens?
What laws(that are illegal by the way) stay in effect if this version of FISA does not go into play immediately?
How long would it take to get a new version up to vote?If it does take a small or large amount of time for a new version to be created, drafted, and sent through the Senate and or House, what will be occuring during that time?
And if you dont know the answer to these questions, I dont think you should be demanding anything from anyone, because you dont know what your talking about, nor what this whole picture and bill is about.
Now I havent read EVERY comment on here about this, but from what I have read between here and Huff Post, MOST(95%, including myself) havent answered ANY of these questions.
Most are just bickering for the sake of it, and havent done really anything to explain why we should be demanding Obama shoot this down, or back away from it, or whatever your major complaint is that you think we should all agree with you on(of course, no one wants telecom immunity, but there is more to it than that, that should be obvious).Just my 2 cents.
P.S. I would like it someone wrote it up explaining the questions I put up by the way, their are a few points I am unclear of and before I make any real decision I think I need to know those facts.

THESE are the questions you need answers to before you scathe Obama or any politician backing or not backing this version of FISA.

But given the legitimate threats we face, providing effective intelligence collection tools with appropriate safeguards is too important to delay.
This, to me, was a pretty serious part of his comments.
I took from it, that he obviously doesnt like aspects of the FISA, and it IS a grand improvement over the old Protect America Act.But you cant have this held up in the senate for any more longer of a period. And thats true words.
I still do hope that a collective agreement can be worked out to remove the immunity clause, as he is stating.
