Does the Prees Love McCain or Just Ratings?
There has been a lot of talk about how the Press loves McCain and as evidence we all often site the latest example of how they simply parrot McCain's talking points about Obama to prove their love for him. I'm...more »

Respecting Clinton's Voters
I must say the only thing that I felt was missing from Senator Clinton's terrific speech on Saturday was some acknowledgment that she and her supporters hadn't been cheated or disrespected somehow. I thought she covered all of the other...more »

I do think that the demo helps Obama in Virginia more than most models can participate. For example Virginia is almost 20% African American while Indiana is about 9% and Missouri is 11%.
Having grown up here in Virginia and lived in several parts of the state, I believe that the AA vote hasn't been motivated here to vote in large numbers except for Doug Wilder's election as Governor here and I believe that this voting block will not be represented well in polls but will show up strong in November.
Also, over the last 8 years the population has exploded in northern Virginia with a lot of typical DC residents moving to the suburbs to raise their families and a large share of these people are solid Dems.
The Obama campaign in Virginia is kicking off office opening parties at all 20 offices in the state tomorrow morning. Let's go Virginia!

It's not even a flip flop really, it's worse! It's he doesn't know what he's talking about!
He answers questions and then his "people" go in a panic as they realize he said something stupid (again) and get out a statement that essentially says; "McCain isn't able to answer a question straight up without the help of his campaign, sorry."
As an adoptive parent myself, I have to say that anyone who would actually say that children are better off in foster care or orphanages than in any loving & of course carefully screened family; is just a bigot and is just plain cruel.

The editor for The New Yorker was on MSNBC yesterday and basically said that it was satire and that nobody would think that it was serious. To me the only problem with their judgment here is that they are missing the fact that there are a lot of people in this country to do believe those lies. If those people see the cover of the magazine, do you think they are going to read it to find out that it's all not true? No of course not.
Satire works when nobody would take it seriously; but the problem with their cover is that plenty of uninformed Americans will take it seriously.

The other question is why are gas prices going up so high? Has there been some major change in the last few months that would limit supply or spike demand? No?
Let's face it; the oil companies are trying to get their hands on Alaska & offshore drilling but they can't get either one if American's think that everything is going OK in terms of Oil. So they start raising the prices and try to create enough frustration in the public that we start begging our leaders to do what not that long ago; nobody wanted. The oil companies know that they have just a few short months left of a guaranteed friendly White House so they are trying their best to get what they want now before the election.

The MSM loves to play the "do you agree with those comments" game when someone says something stupid like Graham did; but they are letting McCain off the hook on whether Graham's opinions have shaped McCain's economic policy. I believe that Graham and other economic conservatives like him do believe exactly what Graham said and I do think that these thoughts are a deep part of their policy decisions as well.

McCain must be trying to make some gains in the purple areas of the state; but with the large African American populations in Norfolk and Richmond he is going to have a harder time than pretty much any Republican in recent history. The fact that he is also advertising in Roanoke and the Tri-Cities areas is just strange as those should be solid Red; but again southern Virginia has large AA populations so maybe that is what his team is worried about.
I can't wait for my Virginia to vote for Obama in November!
