Jesus, people, calm down. This ad, like the last one, is pathetic. Comparing Obama to Britney Spears and Paris Hilton is a clear sign that the McCain campaign has already jumped the shark. And it is only July.
In 2004 Kerry ran on a platform that he was in the military while Bush hid out in the Texas National Guard. And so the Swiftboating was a kick in the nuts to the hapless senator. This ad, on the otherhand, is just plan weird. Showing Obama speak in front of 200,000 Germans is an odd tactic and the message it seems to send out is that McCain is very jealous of the junior senator.

I guess a few wingnuts will eat this ad up but I think the vast majority of the public will simply be left with the impression that McCain is a bitter, angry old man. The ad is so lame you would kind of expect to see it as one of the fake commercials on Saturday Night Live.
Obama practices a kind of political jujitsu. He gets under the skin of opponents and their increasingly desparate attacks bounce off him and land on the attacker. It happened to Alan Keyes, it did to Clinton and it will to a hot-head like McCain. McCain is going to blow his lid at some point in this election and it won't be pretty.

I am not going to pretend that the economy is doing well. But something was seriously wrong with this employment report. Fewer jobs were lost than expected and wages growth was higher than predicted.
What grew the unemployment number was a lot of people who entered the job market. A good number of these were high school and college students. Some others might have been stay-at-home moms who now need a job to offset rising gas prices.
There seems to be a huge difference between people entering the market because they lost their job and people entering the market after sitting out for a while. Before everyone starts screaming that the sky is falling they should probably wait until next month before making any conclusions. If these new job seekers are still unemployed next month the we can say the economy is struggling.

It sure seems like alternative energies will be a huge general election issue. If Obama promised to let Gore oversee a Manhattan Project for alternative energy I wonder if Gore might be tempted to sign on for four years. Then next election Obama could annoint his successor. Gore is an odd dude and I think he just might go for this.

If Hillary is such a fighter why has she been such a marshmallow in the senate?
She fights for the things she cares about. Unfortunately for us, all she cares about is herself.

Clinton has shown in this campaign that she is a fighter and will stand up for the things she cares about. However, as a senator she has been a total marshmallow, voting for the war and a flag burning amendment and triangulating her way to Republican lite. Isn't it clear to everyone by now that deep down the only thing she cares about is herself?

I wouldn't get too caught up on the Kantor thing if I were you. Not only does the distraction of the video go against everything Obama stands for but it is clearly a fake.
The original video shows the three men talking about surprisingly good poll numbers and Kantor then adds, "those people must be shitting." From the context it is very clear he is referring to the Bush I campaign team, not residents of Indiana. The other phrase was clearly dubbed in.
Obama supporters who reacted with glee over this clip should be ashamed of themselves. Isn't this pointless distraction the very thing Obama is running against? Can we please get back to the issues and leave this gutter journalism to the pros at cable news?

For all of the people who were worried about Hillary "bitch-slapping" Obama last week, I can't help but think it hurt her more than it did him. I mean, Ghandi and MLK were continually "bitch-slapped" and they were rather successful in achieving their aims. Obama seems to be employing a similar strategy.

I don't know about Clinton/Obama but I would love to see the unstoppable ticket of Huckabee/McCain. Do you think McCain would go for that?

Actually in the crazy way Democrats do things Wyoming and Mississippi will be more important than Ohio, Texas and Pennsylvania combined. At least delegatewise.
