Hillary is always accused of being a divider. I'm not so sure this is accurate. She was the first to jump into the race, and pretty much had it sewed up. Then Barack jumps in and takes half of the...more »

  • Oh, yeah, he's gonna make a dent. When someone would say they were impressed by something or someone, my father used to say, "An impression is a dent, and a dent is a hole, and hole is nothing. Don't be so impressed!"

When I was 13, campaigning for Bobby Kennedy, I was convinced he was the second coming of Christ, and that he was going to change the world. I still have great respect for the man, and wish he had had the chance to try...but as an adult I recognize that he was far from being a saint, and that his best chance for really changing anything would have been in the Senate, not the Presidency.

The same is true for Obama. As President, he'll have to work within the system as it is. There are over 500 lawmakers who are comfortable with the way things are, and they're not likely to grovel at his feet. In fact, he's young, inexperienced and cocky, and that will invite major resistance from seasoned oldtimers who will be standing around corners with their feet out trying to trip him up, democrats as well as republicans. They will succeed. Believe me, the love affair between Kennedy and Obama will end in divorce.

  • Have you read Hillary's Oregon Compact? She does her homework and shows she cares and knows each state intimately. http://www.hillaryclinton.com/hq/oregon/compact/

Obama's "Oregon plan" was a shameless cut and paste from another state, without any understanding of who Oregon is and what its needs are. Either he thinks the Great Lakes are in Oregon, or his ad campaign in Oregon is taken from the Illinois playbook. Either way, really lame. This is why he is avoiding a debate with Hillary about Northwest concerns at all costs.

  • Good LOL. This old person's "goofy biases" has much to do with how well life was for my family with the Clinton economic plan, and several other things as well:

Bias #1: My 28 year old son, formerly an Obama supporter now supporting Hillary, went to college with tremendous help from a Pell grant based on the Clinton plan.

Bias #2: We had health insurance that covered dental and did not cost us a fortune. We've lost all of that in the last 6 years and believe Clinton knows how to fix it because she was a part of the WHC presidency that has already worked on this and knows what doesn't work.

Bias #3: I lost a long-earned promotion to a person who had less than half my experience. He was very personable and schmoozed the boss quite effectively. He almost ran the company aground before he was fired and I got the job. There is a big part of me that feels experience matters more than charm when it comes to running this country.

Bias #4: Color doesn't mean a damn thing to me. I don't think of Obama as black. I think of him as just another man who wants to run our country; a man who has the audacity to run for the Presidency with only 3 years of mediocre national politics under his belt. It's time to see what a woman's perspective can do. Especially a woman with the experience, intelligence, drive, energy and tenacity of Hillary Clinton. I learned from my wife how the feminine approach to conflict makes all the difference in obtaining successful and lasting resolution, and I believe with all my soul that it's time for a woman president.

So, there you have it. Goofy? One day you'll be labeled the same way for many of the same reasons.

  • I think what many of you don't understand is that part of the high turn out in the Democratic primary is due to a combination of liberal progressive Democrats (like me) who simply remember all that Hillary has done for people in this country all of her working life, and see her as the best qualified candidate; plus conservative Democrats who see Hillary as more toward the center politically than very very liberal Obama; plus many many Republicans who are so disgusted with Bush, and who want out of this war so badly that they are willing to vote for a Democrat who they see as the more conservative of the two Democrats.

What this means is that if Obama gets the nomination, people like me will support him. But conservative Democrats, and Republicans voting Democratic in this election will simply vote for McCain. They are not worried about a woman's right to choose, gay marriage rights, or any other of our liberal agenda.

But...if Clinton is the nominee, she will keep all of these voters, plus liberal Democrats like most of us because we DO care very much about the Supreme Court and abortion rights, etc. And, we can count on Clinton upholding all of these issues that are important to us because, believe it or not, she is a liberal Democrat...just not as liberal as Obama.

Obama is carrying 16 mil of liberal democrats. Clinton is carrying 16 mil of a combination of liberals, conservative Dems, and Repubs who will vote for her to get us out of this war. This is why the race is still on. The popular vote is still basically half and half, which means that if the superdelegates go with either one, they will be going against the will of 1/2 of Democratic voters, either way.

Thus, the remaining superdelegates, over 150 of them who have not declared, are just as likely to go with Clinton to be safe than to go with Obama and hope there are no skeletons left to jump out and ruin the general election for the Dems. He is getting many of the publicly elected supers, but the party leaders who have no concern over constituents are more likely to vote for the person most likely to keep the conservative voters, and that is Clinton.

  • joflorida:
    Well said. Thank you.

    supa:
It would be foolish to write in Obama in November when Hillary is actually on the ballot against McCain :)

Obama's name was not on the ballot in Michigan because he was not smart enough, politically, nor compassionate enough personally to leave it on. Hillary knew how important it was to 1) acknowledge Michigan because of their awful economic problems right now, and 2) give them a chance to vote for someone and have their voices heard, despite the stupidity of the DNC in disenfranchising them over, what?, a primary voting date change. If Obama was truly caring of all voters, he would insist on a revote, even if it meant his losing. That would be an Obama that all of you seem to think he is. In reality, he is very much someone other than that.

Michelle only cares about being a first lady, so whatever it took her husband to do to other women to get ahead politically, she supported. No angel there!

  • He's 28 and his friend is 29, and his friend's wife is 21. To be honest, they are all very fine people. My son changed careers to start his own business, and we invited him to live at home until he got on his feet. He works his buns off. His friend makes $40,000+ a year and his wife is in college. They were living with his Clinton-voter mom until they had a falling out. They are getting their own apartment on Friday.

I was just havin' some fun with my post because I know so many people in the same circumstance (Clinton parents / Obama kids).

We need some fun and humor on this site really badly, don't you all think?
