  • You need to stop by your local elementary school and sit in on a civics class. I'm over this thread.

  • "I guess I don't get the unrelenting tongue-lashing progressives give the Democratic Party and its presidential candidates, while they seem to make no real effort to build a grassroot swell for change."

I'm pretty sure there is a Grassroots effort to convince Obama and OTHERS in the Senate to table or to let FISA die... It's been quite successful up until this point.

"In other words you seem to be solely relying on the Democratic Party and the presidential candidate for change. Whereas I think in the current political environment you can only expect so much from them."

Criticism has, for the most part, not been directed at one specific individual or party until recently. I believe this thread and much of the latest Brewhaha (sp) over the issue is due to a position the Senator has flipped on and the ramifications of that action. Further, if you haven't noticed, there seems to be some capitulation on the part of many folks who previously were against the FISA bill. Some are so afraid of their shadows as to try and convince others to toss aside principle and not voice their opinion out of fear and insecurity.

"Bottomline question: What's the point of bashing the Democrats and Obama?"

Who's bashing... suddenly voicing an opinion on a shitty bill is bashing? When for months everyone on this site was fit to be tied about Reid, Pelosi, and everyone else selling-out to Bushco, the law, the telcos, etc.

Is that plain enough for you?? Can this really be so damned complex??

No one is bashing, there just seems to be a deep sense of denial around here, all of a sudden. What's worse is that these are normally level-headed people, even the Clintonistas! Sorry! Just kidding! ; b

  • Grow some intestines, You have shit pouring out of your mouth. You are, in effect, telling people not to voice their opinion about a shitty bill. How fucking stupid is that?

You think Obama supports YOU telling people not to get involved? You have no clue what his campaign is about. Nor do most of you sissies. I know why I support Obama... do you? Do you really understand what empowerment is? Audacity?

  • I think you are making this a little harder on yourself than you need to. I suggest you not fret... this is how "citizens" respond in a "Democracy". You may recall, not long ago, before various bullshit legislation was enacted, we would "respond" by contacting our "representatives" and voicing our "opinions". You may have actually have done this without even knowing that it's quite normal in our country. We even (*vapors*) spoke-out against our OWN PARTY! Imagine that!

It's been a long time, I know... but as I survey the room around me, I see the faces of those that stood shoulder to shoulder against FISA, now drained completely of testosterone and beer, now dutifully hoisting their own babies into the yawning mouth of this shit-bourne bill-- screaming as they toil "The netroots are coming! The netroots are coming!".

  • Ummm, I think most of the folks here have, and continue to voice concern in the proper channels, forums, and to the legislative body for quite some time, now. The problem seems to be a lack of intestinal fortitude when push comes to shove,. It's a disturbing pattern I classify as the "pussification" of the democratic party... I believe you are showing some of the classic symptoms, yourself.

The "netroots" moniker is a classic example of the need to identify the "enemy" of the pussification process. It is the feeble replacement of reasoned thinking and common sense.

You should flog yourself thrice daily and drink full-bodied beers for a full weekend... I suggest switching to boxers, too.

  • "Losing one battle"

The vote hasn't OCCURRED yet, and you have already given-up. You admit that we are LOSING something. You are critical of those that wish to effect a change in policy by rallying support through established channels and forums. What form of Democracy do you practice? STFU if you want to put your head in the sand... don't try to shame me because of your shortcomings and fears.

I am an Obama supporter... Obama appreciates my INVOLVEMENT in the process, he doesn't do "cowering", OK??!!

  • Observer2,

You just keep up the "observing" and we'll do the heavy lifting.

Anybody who's scared to speak-up for your rights can start an Observer Points Memo. First you people bitch for months about a lack of oversight and "spineless" legislative pussyfooting, and then when it's time to step up to the plate you piss your pants!

What a bunch of candy-asses!--"the netrrots are coming, the netroots are coming!".

I'm voting for Obama regardless, STFU if you don't want endless threads of Obama SUPPORTERS throwing your pissy pants back in your faces.

Grow a spine, for god's sake!
