McCain Forgot a Line in His Speech Today
It seems to me that McCain forgot a line in his speech today: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/07/strategy_for_victory_in_afghan.html Senator Obama will tell you we can't win in Afghanistan without losing in Iraq. In fact, he has it exactly backwards. It is precisely the success...more »

Somebody please remind John McCain that we did not "win" the Cold War by invading Russia (or any other sovereign nation for that matter) and that Sadaam Hussein was not a threat to anyone outside of his boarders and the oil companies.

When Obama is asked about this, he should simply say that he hopes those that receive them use them... and maybe his campaign should consider sending them out as well. Remind reporters that it does work and to use the plublicity to educate the public.

This ad is stupid on so many levels. 1. It uses quotes of Obama when he is actually making fun of or explaining the silliness of the very charges the ad makes. It's one thing to say a guy lacks humility, it's another to clip his self-deprecating statements and use them against him. 2. Moses? These guys don't know their Bible. Moses was not a messianic figure. Moses did not part the Red Sea --God did. Moses was portrayed as very human and a flawed man. King David, another flawed man, would have been a more appropriate figure.. he was "The Anointed One" and the messiah was to come from the line of David. 3. Essentially calling Obama a "false messiah" is only one step removed from crap like this courtesy of Hal Lindsey:

So, Obama isn't the antichrist, but prepared the way for the antichrist (who will be received pretty much just like Obama)? Go back to incorrectly predicting the end of the world Hal.

The McCain campaign's latest line of attack on Barack Obama sounds very familiar. Where have I heard it before?
Geraldine Ferraro: "If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept."
Take out the first part of the above statement and replace it with "If Obama was not a celebrity" and you have the McCain attack. When you dissect the McCain argument that Obama is only a celebrity, a fad, an empty suit, and a rock star with no substance; you are left with only one reason for his fame and popularity... his race. It is the implict version of Ferraro's charge.
And the McCain campaign's latest response? Just like Ferarro, they accuse Obama of playing the race card.
Ferraro: "Any time anybody does anything that in any way pulls this campaign down and says let's address reality and the problems we're facing in this world, you're accused of being racist, so you have to shut up. Racism works in two different directions. I really think they're attacking me because I'm white. How's that?"
Rick Davis says in an emailed statement: "Barack Obama has played the race card, and he played it from the bottom of the deck. It's divisive, negative, shameful and wrong."

Personally, I can't wait for the day the Clinton camp argues to count the popular vote from Puerto Rico, but not Iowa, Nevada, Washington, and Maine (as these "undemocratic" caucus states don't keep a vote count). Never mind that Puerto Rico isn't a state. That is, unless she loses it... then it won't count.
