  • "Indeed it does. It is not so hopeful for the re-election prospects of the super-delegates who vote for him."

Why do you say that AJM? Do you know who most of these 80 congressional super-delegates are? What can you tell us about their constituencies that leads you to that conclusion?

  • "Dean is saying what Obama himself agrees are the rules governing super delegate voting: in your words, "whatever the hell they feel like". Of course Obama wants them to feel a certain way but his is a moral argument not a legal one."

    That is all true.

"I think most of us share a belief that the process needs changing."

    I agree with that.

"But for this convention those are the party rules.
    Rules that Obama has accepted.
And is anyone really surprised that the Democratic Party is not all that democratic?
Haven't you wondered at the hodgepodge of primary and caucus rules, the various methods of allotting elected delegates? "

Texas's delegate selection system could certainly use some simplification.

"If you want a truly democratic party then caucuses must go and every registered Democrat would vote directly for their candidate of choice."

Now that is a conclusion and an opinion that you have not made the case for. Why not eliminate primaries in favor of caucuses?

"But for now the only ones to blame are the candidates who after all are failing to attain the required number of elected delegates to secure the nomination. Blame Obama."

Your post was fine and there was little there to argue with until the last two words. Aren't there two candidates failing to attain the required number of elected delegates to secure the nomination? I guess there might be a perverted sort of logic to that if you blame Obama for preventing Hillary from getting her required number of delegates and also blame Obama for not earning the number of delegates he needs. Why didn't it occur to me that Hillary is in no way responsible for her own performance?

  • I agree. As a Mother I completely understand her feelings on this and share them. If anyone ever directly or indirectly compared my daughter to a prostitute I would see red.

I also agree that Obama should support her on this. Whether he will or not remains to be seen. He should because of the larger issues involved and the patterns of disgraceful behavior and speech pundits and journalists have descended to in the MSM. John Edwards lead on this issue when he was the first to announce that he would not participate in debates hosted by Fox News. Obama then Hillary trailed behind Edwards' lead.

But it seems that this issue is strictly personal for Hillary and she is less interested in holding the MSM to higher standard unless it directly affects her. Why single out Shuster and MSNBC yet agree to a debate on Fox News? It is selective outrage like this that makes me doubt Hillary's authenticity.

  • This is a real shame.

I think this is a good example of what makes so many Americans like myself remain Independent and completely disenchanted with the only two political parties we have.

I wonder how many more times the Dem's will shoot themselves in the foot before this becomes a completely one party government.

  • Paul,

I currently live here in Missouri City. I looked up your age in Wikipedia. If it is accurate (I hear we must wonder about that these days) then I am your senior by four years. You should know where Quail Valley is. We live down the road from Dulles. But my kids go to a newer High School named Elkins

As to your question about who is that 36%. I can tell you they are white anglo saxon men who vote on two issues only - anti-abortion and anti-gay-marriage. My son goes to the High School surrounded by 17 and 18 year olds who believe that George Bush and Tom DeLay are the greatest politicians ever to grace the US. They are completely uninformed on any of the issues. They basic "news" diet consists of Fox News, O'Reilly, Hannity, Drudge and Rush.
