McCain's attack on Obama isn't just about a million dollar house. He's attempting to trivialize him by making the arugula remark.
It's classic Karl Rove.

onceler - I like your post, especially numbers 4 and 5. #4 should resonate with most people, regardless of whether they are on the left or the center-right, end of the spectrum.
McCain just isn't all that reliable.

The problem with attacking McCain as a loose cannon type, is that it didn't seem to make a dent, when that sort of charge was leveled against Bush 43 and Reagan.
Rational people are already attracted to Obama. It's the guy and gal that votes with their gut, that Obama has to be worried about. And those folks often vote for the candidate that they perceive to be the Alpha Male. Far from criticizing McCain's neanderthal-ish behavior, Obama should be doing some chest thumping himself.

You nailed it.
The right wing has been playing this kind of game for years and the MSM just eats these kinds of allegations up and presents them, as though they were true.

Sublime response!
Since racism in the ad is fairly subtle, it's doubtful that most white people would get what the big deal is, it the Obama people made a fuss. Obama's best bet, is to deflect McCain's ad with humor and save their big guns for more overt stuff.

Gossip is the tool human beings use to talk about community morality. It serves a purpose by getting everyone to compare their behavior, with the one being gossiped about. It's a kind of ethics sounding board.
Like fables or parables, we learn something from the behavior of others. That's why gossip is so powerful and so popular. For better or worse, it ain't going away. That's why it's so stunning when politicians put their careers at risk, for a bit of nooky.

Exactly.
It's a distraction. Like the hapless interviewee with a large piece of spinach stuck between his two front teeth, a presidential candidate with a mistress is unlikely to get the job.

Despite the near impossibility of finding a candidate that one can look up to, people still cling to the idea of fidelity and honesty in their leaders.
Not only did Edwards betray his wife and children, he betrayed his supporters and the Democratic party. It's not as if we hadn't been through a scandal ridden candidacy and presidency before. One has to wonder what Edward thinking.
What galls me, was Edwards' sanctimony and the way he made Clinton and Obama fall over themselves for his endorsement. But arrogance seems to be de rigueur among politicians who have affairs.

Wow, surprisingly funny and spot on.

It would be interesting know if ABC was shut out due to their awful debate questions during the primaries. It's almost too good to be true.
