New Report Chronicles Regulatory Failings Under Bush

With Inauguration Day around the corner, Washington is heavily focused on moving forward these days. But for those who don't mind a little strong medicine to prepare for tomorrow night's Will Ferrell George Bush Farewell Performance, the non-profit group OMB Watch has just put out a sterling report that illustrates the abdication of regulatory responsibility under Bush and its devastating consequences for the nation.

The Bush years may have exhausted writers' supply of negative adjectives, but the failure to use regulatory powers is one misstep of this administration that's not often discussed comprehensively -- partly because the regulatory process itself is so complicated. OMB Watch's report is purposely crafted in narrative form, making it almost a fun read (if you like tragedies).

You must really be looking forward to Bush's farewell speech--he's giving it tomorrow night, not tonight...

I know this because tomorrow's my birthday, and one present will be the fact that it is, in fact, the last time I'll have to listen to him....

If that isn't cause for celebration, nothing is.

Agreed. This failure is among the most under-reported stories of the Bush years, generally usurped by stories about the president's daughters, the first lady, the first dog, Hillary's cleavage and the like.

In fact, Bush kills, and the victims aren't limited innocent civilians in the Middle East. His destruction of oversite of food safety, drug safety, clean water, clean air, nuclear sites, workplace safety, product safety, vehicle safety, infrastructure, etc. has led to the deaths of thousands (yes, thousands) of our fellow Americans. We could have used an AmericanBodyCount.com website too.

Bush took an oath to administer the laws, as required by the Constitution, and his deliberate failure to do so, resulting in the deaths of many of his constituents, is just another of the many reasons that this man belongs in prison.

Bush has been all over TV recently trying to burnish his legacy. He's been wearing a number of different masks;

Bush the contrite
Bush the nice
Bush the sensitive
Bush the humble
Bush the compassionate
Bush the considerate

Gone is

Bush the arrogant
Bush the bully
Bush the incurious
Bush the extreme
Bush the secretive
Bush the infallible

This is a GREAT report. Long but there is no getting around the fact that it needed to be long. Lots of great history also.
Thanks for the link!
