Where Are You, Angry Left? Part Two

Still more poll numbers have just been released suggesting that the supposed "angry left" isn't so angry about Obama's transition choices after all.

The new Pew poll finds that 89% of Democrats approve of Obama's cabinet choices, versus only four percent who disapprove.

Even better, only one percent of Democrats say Obama's cabinet choices are "too conservative," and 86% say they're "about right."

Where are you, angry leftists? Where are you?

Seething

It's that they keep looking for the wrong adjective.

Or perhaps they can't believe that the Left would be so cohesive.

Or maybe they're so desperate to find something wrong that they're making it up out of whole cloth.

They should check with Pat Boone--I bet he knows where the Angry Left is!

user-pic

As founder of the Seething left I hereby command that you recognize the difference between us and those on the Angry Left lest I do to you avatar what LBJ did to his beagles. These references to the Angry left are all a TPM plot to further dismiss the MSM. Only the right is angry. Just ask the Raging Left if you don't believe me. They still have a scintilla of credibility left despite connections to the business in Chicago.

user-pic

As a member of the Somewhat Irritable Left, I am somewhat irritable that the media is continuing to neglect our important constituency to focus exclusively on the Angry Left.

Once again, our horserace-driven media disenfranchises moderate extremists just because extremist extremists make for a better story.

user-pic

You people of the SIL always miss the big picture.
Being on the "Seething Left" I know we manifest
a much longer lasting range of rage than the merely "Angry Left" and are therefore much more deserving of media focus because our current is always flowing and thus "current." Naturally this observation will leave you somewhat jealous, but that is your nature.

user-pic

So have the MSM gotten a hold of you to find out why you're seething? Or to find out that they keep using the wrong adjective? I don't believe in an Angry Left, either.

user-pic

As a member of the People's Front of Peeved Lefties, I reject and denounce the ideological fascism of the Angry Left.

user-pic

Those of us on the Seething Left include as one of our animating principles the failure of others
on the left to renounce the use of "facism" as an adjective ever since it was misappropriated by spawn of LBJ's former mistress before she went to work as a dirty tricketer for Nixon and had her own little dirty trickerster. Anything left of Menshevickean pisses us mightily. But we are not prone to anger. Yet.

user-pic

I think that the 'angry leftists' are all in Bizarro World where John McCain won the presidency.

Where are you, angry leftists? Where are you?
Paging Mr. Sirota! Mr. Sirota, please come to the front desk!
user-pic

i thought the "angry left" only applied to individuals or groups who railed against even-handed, moderate policies suggested or championed by republicans?

to me this meme is a reflection on how the media views president-elect obama and how it's used to attack the blogosphere/netroots.

(i'm not really sure where i would place p-e obama on an ideological scale: i KNOW he's a democrat but outside of that, could he really be one of the political leaders that urge us to dissolve the dichotomies of the current political climate and welcome an open discussion on the issues we face today?)

perhaps the media views p-e obama as a "moderate, center-left politician who is willing to buck the left-flank of the party to win consensus"...for them, this would be another conflict to discuss during the neverending news cycle and attack the left blogosphere at the same time...

user-pic

The angry leftists are in an undisclosed location, with the Obama datebook showing that Obama met secretly with Blags on Nov. 5.

Or so Campbell Brown and Howard Kurtz think.

user-pic

seems like a pretty good bet...

user-pic

Are you as tired of CB as I am already? She started becoming incredibly annoying as soon as they gave her her own show. No bias my ass. . .

user-pic

I thought some of her rants during the election were really good--because they were original. This stuff, about Obama not doing enough, isn't original--it's all over the damn web, and has been practically since the mess was announced. So it's not original, and, the criticism is just ridiculous. It's now been about 48 hours since the Blagomess was announced, and commentators have been saying for the last 24 that Obama's response was insufficient. WTF?

At this point, I sort of avoid watching her, because it seems that it's the same cast of characters (Borger, who I think is only marginally smarter than Blags, frankly...Gergen...Toobin....) mouthing the same sort of "conventional wisdom" that every else says. Blah.

user-pic

I read the headlines on CNN's web site and sigh.

user-pic

her show would be more aptly titled "All Bias, All Bull."

user-pic

I once caught a thread of some right wing troll who did a number on Campbell's Daddy, who apparently came from the same ethical wing of the Lousiana Democratic party as the guy who saved NOLA from David Duke. It was humorous. That was before she married a Bush appointee and converted to the faith of Joe Lieberman and Jack Abramoff.

user-pic

That explains a lot. . .

user-pic

Ya betcha!

user-pic

We better put out an Amber Alert for the Missing Angry Left.

user-pic

Look they may have found the missing toddler in Fla. so CNN Headline News will be needeing a new corpse for Nancy Grace to chase. If you finger the Angry Left as missing, they may come visit your burro shed and who know what they will find.

user-pic

An Amber alert, and, milk cartons!

But who's missing? The angry left? The raging left? The seethers? Teethers?

user-pic

Ah, the Teething Left. They are those we on the Seething Left wish to save our planet for.

user-pic

O I know what they'll find: a housing project for Brown Recluse and Black Widow spiders, overseen by about a dozen feral cats.

user-pic

Ah ha! A housing project for "Brown Recluses" and "Black Widows." A good place to look for the underpinnings of our financial meltdown, but hardly Angry Left habitat.

user-pic

That definitely sounds more like a Republican hangout.

user-pic

They live under the house with the rest of the skunks.

user-pic

LOL!

user-pic
but hardly Angry Left habitat.

I dunno- I have a feeling the dozen or so feral cats are probably liberals.

;)

user-pic

Yes, liberals tend to run in packs and like webs and those who weave them. I'll buy your expmanation at face value. But that is not enough to convince CNN the Angry Left has not gone missing there and when they finish rummaging arounbd you'll have little left but a potting shed. Hardly fit for storage much left the ghosts of burro's past.

user-pic

LOL!

You know how to give me nightmares - sic the MSM on me. Oy!

user-pic

"Even better, only one percent of Democrats say Obama's cabinet choices are "too conservative," and 86% say they're "about right."

Now if the late Tim Russert were still with us, poll numbers like that would be reported as "87% of Democrats find that Obama appointees are not sufficiently to the left."

user-pic

Fine, the Cabinet picks were "about right". But what did they think of the porridge??

user-pic

Oh, there's still time for that to develop. I'll help it along.

"By double digits, voters think Obama's cabinet choices are too liberal...."

(15%, to be precise....)

user-pic

Try Open Left and Firedog Lake. There's a handful.. Sirota, Stoller, Bowers, Hamsher, Greenwald. They are busy marginalizing themselves, the peanut section throwing stones.

user-pic

I'd rather not lump all of these together. Although Greenwald is distinctly unhappy with the Obama administration, I'd view what he's been doing as very different from what, say, Sirota is doing, because Greenwald's writings on this subject have all been in service of some kind of specific concrete goal-- i.e., dissuading specific rumored personnel picks (like Brennan and Hayden) which Greenwald considers undesirable. This is not empty anger, it is participating in the political process to encourage the Obama administration to make good decisions. I think it is possible and even necessary for even those people who are not angry with the Obama administration at all to demand the Obama administration make good decisions.

(To be clear, I basically agree with your depiction of Sirota's recent behavior and am just objecting to lumping in Greenwald with same. Meanwhile I don't read Hamsher so I can't comment on what she's doing, and I don't even understand what Bowers and Stoller are doing anymore; Bowers in particular has been baffling me and seems to be trying to backpedal on some of the things he's said, for example by doing things like complaining that the New York Times has been quoting his website in a way that accurately represents the basic message of his website over the last couple weeks.)

user-pic

I'm surprised at Jane. And very very disappointed.

user-pic

I just saw an angry left'er at the coffee pot a second ago. He poured hot coffee on my head and stormed out.

I didn't catch his name.

Maybe TMP can do some street interview comedy with some funny questioning on the search for the angry left, asking people where they could be found and post it. It might be a hoot.

user-pic

Sorta like W looking here and there for those WMDs?

user-pic

And O.J. looking for the real killers.

user-pic

OJ's search for the real killers has taken a promising turn. He cleverly gained access to a facility where killers are stored. Always two steps ahead, just like when he was in the NFL.

user-pic

If we waste anymore time on the Angry Left we "seethers" as we like to call ourselves, will start to sizzle. We will not, however, let our emotions evaolve into anything that can be described as anger, since it is to early into the as yet to be administration and we might then be confused with our rivals whom Tena thinks are missing in her CNN studio.

user-pic

I don't understand, quite honestly, how someone as smart as Jane Hamsher could have published that piece at HuffPo objecting to Caroline Kennedy being in the Senate on the basis of lack of experience and lack of liberal creds.

This is not the Vice Presidency; people are elected to Congress every goddamn election who never legislated before. Where the hell does she think judges come from? Most of them have to start out with absolutely no experience.

Very very disappointing.

user-pic

"Where the hell does she think judges come from?"

Or even more important, movie co-producers?

user-pic

Hahahaha!!!

thanks for that laugh.

user-pic

Sorry, the correct answer is Southern Cal. Just like H.R. Bob Haldeman and Cindy McCain.

user-pic

The juxtaposition of this thread with your earlier one:

Obama Promises Health Care Reform "This Year"

makes clear why the "angry left" is a myth.

It's the policies that matter.

user-pic

"This year" the "angry left" will "threaten to dog" the transition with "the missing envelope #1" containing the secret tape of "Obama's conversation with Blago."

You heard it here first.

user-pic

They may also re-open Al Capone's vaults...Obama may have been involved in Chicago pay-to-play going back to the '30's.

user-pic

Hey, O.J. got 33 to do for armed robbery; anything can happen.

;)

user-pic

When your are appointed to handle his appeal please tell us he was drunk when he did the first one.

user-pic

In Al Capone's vault they will find the rotting corpse of the pool reporter who was following Obama on 11/5 when he met with Blagojevitch. On a DVD player next to the body will be an endless loop of the youtube video of Pat Boone performing "Tutti Frutti".

user-pic
On a DVD player next to the body will be an endless loop of the youtube video of Pat Boone performing "Tutti Frutti".

That image is just so wrong on so many levels....

user-pic

Also on that tape will be Michelle Obama shouting "Whitey whitey whitey!!!!" as she performs a Kenyan witchcraft ritual....

user-pic

Y'all are going to have to let up = I can't breathe and every dove in Dallas Co. has flown the coop -

LMAO

user-pic

....that will result in thousands of registered voters appearing on lists submitted by ACORN signed in the blood of dead Disney animations.

user-pic

I love "The Little Mermaid"!

user-pic

Wasn't she the one who was stuffed in the wood-chipper in Jane Hamsher's movie. Or was it the turkey in your press conference?

user-pic

Democrats are divided!(TM)

user-pic

I thought The Angry Left was made up of folks who got out of the political process cause they was pissed.

I might have gotten that wrong, though.

user-pic

You have mistaken the Angry Left for Nader voters from 2000. Don't be embarassed. It is a common mistake caused by confusion over the Origins of Kucinich.

user-pic

You beat me to it! That's what I get for carrying on 3 conversations at once.

user-pic
There were three men came out of the west, their fortunes for to try And these three men made a solemn vow Little David Corn must die They've plowed, they've sown, they've harrowed him in Threw clods upon his head And these three men made a solemn vow Little David Corn was dead
user-pic

How can you be angry when it's just business as usual? Do I like Obama's foreign policy choices? Of course not. They're the same folks who've enabled the foreign policy we have now. But angry? No, just amused that the Obama supporters believed that the election had anything to do with change.

user-pic

Hey everyone we found a member of the angry left in this guy. Bluebell is a member of the one percent of Dems who think Obama's picks are too conservative.

Serious your trollish rants about Obama are seriously getting old. You want to complain about Obama's picks then go to OpenLeft where your comments are appreciated.

My God with this.

user-pic

Hard to see how there's no change, not Cheney to Biden, and not Bush to Obama?

I think the left is pretty blissful right now. We have been led out of 8 very dark years by a noble, transformational figure, who they nonetheless defamed as nothing less than a terrorist. And that ultra-horrible Palin is back in Alaska with only the shit-for-brains Joe-the-Plumber ignoramouses left celebrating her hideous specter.

Wickedness lost. The good guys won. Joy. It's story-book stuff.
