Quote Of The Day: Palin Wishes She'd Done More Interviews

"But if I would have been in charge, I would have wanted to speak to more reporters because that's how you get your message out to the electorate."

-- Sarah Palin, in an interview with Human Events, saying that the biggest mistake from the campaign was that she wasn't allowed to do more interviews.

Katie Couric probably wishes there had been more interviews, too.

I know I certainly wished for more interviews...And also.

O/T: Eric? That Circuit City ad has to be one of the most annoying ads, ever.

user-pic

Seconded on the Circuit City ad! Several times now I've ended up on the Circuit City site because of their ad taking over the top 1/3 of the page. I realize that TPM doesn't have control over the ad itself, but maybe if you said something to the advertisers??

user-pic

Ads? What ads?

Try Firefox with Adblock.

Isn't this a deja vu moment?

Remember reading the same post some time back.

user-pic

At the risk of repeating herself, she had to say something to get herself back in the news, since burning down the church didn't get quite the level of coverage she'd hoped for. ;-)

user-pic

Does she also wish she had been meaner and stooped lower?

user-pic

This made me chuckle, and I thank you for it.

Read the whole interview. It's her same strange style of speaking...

OMG...

user-pic

Gosh, TheraP, you are a real trooper to read the whole thing, heck that excerpt alone was too much.

I mean, just think if she had of had more interviews, we would not have to listen to all this after the election chatter about her.

Her goose would have been cooked and she would disappear from the national stage.

BTW, has anyone heard anything about Bristol giving birth..her due date was yesterday.

user-pic

I wanted a context, wrb! By the way, I so appreciate your presence on this site. You were away for a while. But glad you're back again.

And yes, I'm waiting for the birth of a child. And it's not the Christ Child!

I made it half way threw before I threw in the towel. She still cannot answer the question as asked and still rambles on with miss-queues and mis-quotes. For example, she actually thinks the purpose for checks-and-balance is for intra-party wrangling/floor fights in the Legislature - never mentions keeping tabs on the Executive and Judiciary Branches.

user-pic

I must have a high tolerance for strange talk. I find her language so bizarre it's almost mesmerizing. But I still can't put my finger on what's so strange about it. And that must be what kept me reading.... the hope that I could diagnose it, I guess.

user-pic

Isn't the first requirement to actually have a message, prior to trying to get it "out to the electorate"?

user-pic

I realize that the ability to form a grammatically correct past contrary-to-fact conditional ("if I had been in charge") is not a prerequisite for being a competent vice-president, nor even a relaible indicator.

That said, I am still incalculably happy that this foolish, vain woman will not be running the country or a pulse away from doing so.

user-pic

Yes Sarah, there really is a Santa Claus....

And isn't Circuit City going bankrupt? Why the hell are they tormenting us with that abomination of a pop-up?

user-pic

I second that about the Circuit City ad. Absolutely unacceptable that I should have to watch dancing Wii-motes and other crap before I get to do anything at all on the site.

user-pic

Excuse me, Sarah, but aren't you the one who criticized the "filter of the media" and those "gotcha" questions from reporters?

user-pic

Ha!

And... does she not wonder why the campaign didn't want her out there speaking freely?

user-pic

"Wondering" takes a "mind." And it takes a "mind" to speak. A mind has been wasted.

user-pic

That is a good point. Wonder she does not.

user-pic

"Wondering" takes a "mind." And it takes a "mind" to speak. A mind has been wasted.

user-pic

I was looking for someone to post this comment. I could have sworn I heard her say that. ;-) Just checking to make sure it wasn't all a bad dream.

user-pic

Me too. That stuff was gold Jerry. Gold!

user-pic

I wish she had done more interviews too! Dems would probably have 60 seats by now in the Senate!

user-pic

I miss her

user-pic

With the utmost of respect, Kash, all I can say is --- you need a life!!

user-pic

We haven't heard from her for days now. Kinda worried too.

user-pic

Tell me your worries, kash. I'll try to help you get a life...

user-pic

I'm worred. If steps away who will save the G.O.P?

user-pic

Oh ye of little faith! God will save the GOP!

user-pic

It's very simple: God ... You reverse the d until it becomes a P! Any time you need God, you just reverse the P till it becomes a d.

All it takes is faith!

user-pic

Sounds a bit like the 'y' being a vowel some of the time kind of rule...

McCain: Wishes he had focused less on qualifications when choosing a VP candidate.

Hillary: Wishes she hadn't paid so much attention to caucus states.

Bush: Wishes he had ignored more of those daily intelligence briefings.

Rummy: Wishes he hadn't sent so many soldiers to Iraq.

Gonzales: Wishes he had been more selective about who got hired at DoJ.

Cheney: Wishes he had gone hunting more often.

user-pic

That last one might actually be true.

user-pic

Yeah, Cheney is impossible to parody in this context; he truly does not regret anything he ever does. That would require a conscience.

user-pic

Now she is just being silly to try to get more press/attention... I am sure she misses it.

user-pic

She's not going to go away, is she?

user-pic

Sarah? How can we miss you when you just won't leave???

user-pic

No, she won't, but the more she talks, the more of a joke she becomes; if that's possible.

user-pic

She is the gift that keeps on giving.

user-pic

She's gonna keep grammarians going for years!

user-pic

She has already provided comedians plenty of material ;)

user-pic

In case anyone at TPM is paying attention to these comments, add me to the list of people who are incredibly annoyed with those goddamned Circuit City ads hijacking my browser window.

It sends me fleeing from this site, no shit. Apparently CC's strategy to emerge from BK, is to annoy the fuck out of TPM site visitors.

user-pic

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Myth Alaska says in this interview that, with respect to Sen. Stevens' seat, she would "be able to appoint a Republican." I was under the impression that after Murkowski's appointment of his daughter to his seat, the law was changed and a special election is now required for unfilled Senate seats.

Am I remembering incorrectly, or does Alaska's governor still not know how the laws work in her own state?

user-pic

Gov. Palin is going to be in for a rude awakening when other Republicans will be gunning for her in four years time. There will even be some staffers gunning for her who worked the McCain campaign and will know every campaign secret about her.

It's one thing to run when you have the full backing of the Republican party and can demonize any opposition as socialist baby-killers.

user-pic

And it's gotta all be about job creation.

user-pic

Ugh, curiosity beat me. I read the whole interview. Ugh.

user-pic

Grammar is not Sarah Palin's friend. But then, I guess folksy folks don't need grammar.
