Palin Rallies For Chambliss Attract Voters -- From Other States

Here's a sign that Sarah Palin could have some serious grassroots support going into the 2012 primaries: The reporter for the local NBC affiliate in Savannah says that while covering Palin's rallies today for Sen. Saxby Chambliss, she met people from as far away as New Mexico, who had come just to see Palin.

"Many made special plans to be in Savannah to see Sarah Palin, not Senator Chambliss," says WSAV's Randi Hempel, "because they're not even eligible to vote here in Georgia."

It's like the Grateful Dead, only more spaced out.

Could have some grassroots support? Ms. Palin has a big grassroots support base and has since she was announced as VP. That's not going anywhere and neither is she. People shouldn't be surprised by now, they should be wary.

user-pic

Word.

user-pic

As others below, I don't agree at all. She is just what we need. A 3D, technicolor advertisement with a roaring soundtrack and a cast of thousands, showing with certainty why no one should even consider voting Republican or listen to a word from the nutbrains that do.

Overeach THIS! wants MORE SARAH!

user-pic

Even better would be for her to charge into the 2012 primary, lose, and go back to Alaska while her supporters sit the election out in protest because she wasn't nominated. They may not be enough to an win election on their own, but they're enough of them to swing the election to Obama by pouting about their loss.

user-pic

People went a long way to hear Jim Jones, and that turned out just ducky.

The key to unlocking any cult is the Charismatic; this is what she is, the personification of every American's gaad-given right to remain willfully ignert. In a civilized society, such offenders would be gathered up and locked away in libraries until they can demonstrate some modicum of lucidity.

Of course, the dangerous part is she seems to not enjoy, not relish, but thrive on the raw manipulation of others to her own, narrow benefit; in this, she is the consummate purveyor of previously-owned lemons. For this, and 387-odd other reasons, she needs to retire to Alaska, and, Madame I beseech thee, stay there.

M.

"The key to unlocking any cult is the Charismatic..."
You just described the entire Obamamania campaign.

user-pic

Obama is charismatic. He is also intelligent, well-read, intellectually curious, has an understanding of the what has worked and what has not throughout American history (as opposed to reliance on "gut" feelings) and is willing to weigh facts before he makes a policy decision.

So, yes, Palin and Obama are both charismatic. That's where the similarities end. Obama is a superior leader in every other category.

user-pic

"He is also intelligent, well-read, intellectually curious, has an understanding of the what has worked and what has not throughout American history (as opposed to reliance on "gut" feelings) and is willing to weigh facts before he makes a policy decision."
The funny thing is that you base this all on "gut feeling" because Obama has "0" track record to show any of this. He gives a great speech and has written 2 books about himself. That is his record.

user-pic

I've heard them both speak. If you can't discern a cavernous gulf between Obama and Palin's intelligence simply by listening to them answer questions, then you're not very bright yourself.

Oh, I forgot, you're a proud, "no book-learning," "everything I need to know I learned in Wasilla, Alaska" conservative type, aren't you?

user-pic

Yep...you nailed me...just a dumb ole redneck...probably too stupid to know that "cavernous" don't mean meateater. Y'all aint gotta worry about us no more, the whole country's turning blue, just keep on with what your doing and you'll rule forever.

user-pic

How isn't there proof that Obama is "intelligent", "well-read", and "intellectually curious"? I mean, I know its difficult to rationalize supporting a drooling lunatic like Sarah Palin - but desperate arguments are beneath you.

user-pic

I never said he wasn't. I'm just saying I don't see track record or paper trail to support it. He does give a great speech, but except for his 2 autobiographies there is nothing out there he's written. No position papers, nothing. There are a couple of early radio interviews where he pledges to bankrupt the coal indutry and laments the fatal flaws of the Constitution, but for a big-time Constitutional law proffessor there's really a "vacuous hole" when it comes to published works.

user-pic

But your argument is intellectually dishonest to say the least. I mean, I'm certain that you haven't looked for any of his position papers - and if you have and couldn't find any, its not like he had a chance of changing your opinion anyway. I read some of the ass backwards things you've said - to even attempt to give the impression that you'd be objective is a laugh riot. Besides, anyone who voted for that vapid pair of tits Sarah Palin has to grasp on to any straw available.

user-pic

In case you missed this yesterday, it talks about how Palin, Nixon and Bu$h are all disciples of McCarthy.

The virus continues to live

user-pic

I'm amazed at her following, especially someone who is so openly ignorant. What are people thinking?

user-pic

"She's just like me!"

user-pic

openly ignorant?

user-pic

The more the GOP likes her,the more mainstream america will run from her,and anyone else their rabid about. After GWBush and his
extreme evangelical views, america will run from the next extremist.

user-pic

I'll be the first to donate to her 2012 campaign, she's pure electoral gold for the Democrats. Palin\Jindal\Romney ! We're On A Mission From God.

user-pic

I don't think the Republican party would be stupid enough to vote her in as a presidential candidate, especially when she cost McCain so many votes as a VP candidate. Democrats would make her look like such a fool (that she is). It would be a massacre.

user-pic

Hmmm.  Helping to lead the GOP further into the wilderness, probably for another two years.

user-pic

Ron Paul had lots of grassroots support, and that didn't help him. In case you've never met a Paul supporter, Eric, they're CRAY-ZEE!

user-pic

She isn't doing the republicans any favors, she may rally the base but she rallys them farther away from the rest of the country, she may be making a small part of the republican party happy but she is also making the republican party smaller.

user-pic

My friend has a theory about Palin and 2012. He figures if Obama can make things even just marginally better, then his approvals will be 60 or above. If that happens, his theory is that the Republican Party will gladly let Sexy Sarah run against Obama because nobody else will want to willingly submit to such a slaughter. 49 states and the real mandate hits in 2012.

Sarah Palin, the Walter Mondale doll in a red(stolen) dress.

Like said above.

We're on a mission from God!!!!

Where do I donate?
bwahahahahahaha!!!!!

Sarah, who loves ya baby?
The donkeys do.

user-pic

I pray that Saxby Chambliss loses so it shut the GOP up with fresh crow down their throats.

user-pic

Palin is like your buddy in the neighborhood when growing up, every knows he is trouble but you're the only one who doesn't see it that way.

She is a unintended blessin'.

user-pic

A real Wasilla Valley girl, don't cha know it!

user-pic

palin, the little gift that keeps on giving...if she keeps it up, obama will be just fine when he is up for reelection....

user-pic
It's like the Grateful Dead, only more spaced out.

And with worse drugs.

user-pic

What's with the slight of the Grateful Dead. I know Dead Heads, and let me tell you that Palin fans are no Heads.

Palin is like some novelty act that keeps playing the same song, and that is how her fans want it. They would happily hear her convention speech over and over again exactly as she spoke it, which seems to be pretty much what she did during the campaign.

Now the buzz among the Palin fans is that she added a few special lines for the Georgia Senate election. Must run and hear that. For all we know there is active trading of her utterances amongst her dead enders.

user-pic

She is a divider, not a uniter.

Yes, she draws an avid cult following among the slackjaws, but sensible Republicans recoil in horror.

She is splitting off the extreme right wing of the GOP. All good.

user-pic
It's like the Grateful Dead, only more spaced out.

Great line, Eric. LOL!

user-pic

Palin said she was campaigning for Chambliss "for the children" ... apparently this little girl is not on her radar screen .....

check out the Chambliss 'family values' (sic) ad:
http://www.boomantribune.com/story/2008/11/30/93239/472

sick! Ick! and the family values crowd is so blinded they can't see perversion beamed at them over the TV?

user-pic

I can't think of anything more unlike a Grateful Dead show, or more of a buzz-kill, than a Sarah Palin rally.

user-pic

I know many of you would be excited to see Palin runin 2012, but I'm not. A lot can happen in 4 years. And I think it is insulting to the American people to have this joke of a person run for the highest office in the land. It was disturbing to see the hate that she stirred. It was even more disturbing that you could count-on one hand- the amount of minorities in her crowds. I don't want to see this woman have any credibility. I don't want her to send the message to our kids that willful ignorance is okay. She is mean and condescending. I don't want to watch three presidential debates where she is winking and mocking Obama. I don't want to see Obama having to hold back because he might be seen as sexist. I don't want to see an endless stream of surrogates on TV calling Obama sexist because he questioned Palin's qualifications. I don't want the world to see our President reduced to running against this clown! She is not worthy.

user-pic

Well see, anew08, I agree with everything you said about Palin, and that's why I love the idea of her as the head of the GOP.

Absolutely love it. They'll never win again if that's the direction they go in. I have faith in the American voters and they more than lived up to my faith in them last month.

She doesn't scare me - the thought of her as the head of the GOP totally delights me. I hope very much they continue being crazier than ever. They get sane, we have to fight them for real.

user-pic

I'm reading Nixonland, which notes that Nixon was pretty much left for dead after 1960 and especially after he lost the CA gov's race in '62. Heck, people were still doubting his chances as late as '68. And then he won. Twice.

But here's the difference. Nixon was not a crazy conservative god squader...he was a right-leaning politician who used those folks and their resentments to win office. And he was wicked smart...evil, but smart.

Palin actually believes the crazy stuff she talks about. And she's willfully ignorant. In fact, she's probably not that bright...just ruthless.

Add to this that McCain-Palin already whipped out the Nixon '68 playbook this year and it failed miserably.

So every time I wonder, "Can Palin pull off a Nixon-like comback?", I remind myself that this isn't the 1960s and Palin isn't Dick Nixon.
