Illinois GOP's New Theme In Special Election Fight For Obama's Seat: Change!
"Change" is everywhere!
The Illinois Republicans appear to already be preparing their message for a special election for Barack Obama's Senate seat, if one were to occur: Change.
On a conference call with reporters, Illinois GOP press secretary Lance Trover attacked the Dems for putting the special-election proposal on hold, citing independent polling and the state GOP's own internal survey showing wide public support for it. "So there's a real desire for change," Trover said.
Trover emphasized the Change theme again, later on: "They want a change, they want something different."
Trover also made sure to include another message that will come up if an election is held: That all these same Democratic leaders actively supported Blago's re-election in 2006, even while he was under investigation -- and he even worked in a dig against Rahm Emanuel and Barack Obama himself, including them in a long list of state pols.
It's so crazy, it just might work.

It won't work.

That's not Change We Can Believe In.....

It's hard to believe that Illinois voters would pick someone who is dedicated to opposing the Obama agenda. This scandal gives Republicans a better chance for an upset, but it's still unlikely.

Yeah, with the Dems so tainted there right now, but with the state still solidly center-left, you'd think that they'd go with a moderate Republican. Then there would be a good chance that they could pick up the seat.

That's not change, that's more of the same.
At least that's how Joe would have phrased it. The Ill Dems should just borrow that line as it was effective enough.

Or....the Dems could go with the line that caused the phony outrage from McCain's team and their affiliates Fox Noise and others.
You can put lipstick on a pig....

Eric, I know it's wishful thinking on your part but it won't work.
It looks like there won't even be a special election because in order to have one the Governor has to sign it and who knows if he will indeed sign for that.

Whomever the Illinois GOP puts up for election will have Bush's fingerprints all over him/her and thus it will be MORE OF THE SAME.

Eh, this doesn't take into account how weak Illinois Republicans are, and they are tainted as well. But I think people would also find it unfair to put in a republican in a democratic seat. They may take governor, still not likely, but more likely than giving a democrat seat given up by the man to become president to the opposing party.

It's funny to see TPM try and scare people over Obama's seat. The Illinois GOP is in such disastrous shape here.

For me, the funniest thing is that Republicans spent months trying to convince voters that Obama's promises of "change" were just airy rhetoric with no specifics (despite detailed speeches and position papers), and now they're trying to co-opt "change" themselves by literally saying that all voters care about is having something different.
They really have nothing but projection and hypocrisy.
