Virginia GOP Flyer Outside Church Hits Obama: "Vote Your Values"
The Virginia GOP is putting a flyer on cars outside churches in Virginia that compares the candidates' records on abortion and gay marriage and demands that voters "vote your values," a reader in Fairfax reports.

"Vote your values," the flyer commands -- and not your economic interests.
"We need a President who brings honor and integrity to the highest office in the land," it also reads, a line that puts the Virginia GOP at odds with McCain, who has conceded that Obama is "very honorable."

Conspicuously absent from the flyer's values -- compassion, forgiveness, caring for the poor, helping thy neighbor, etc...

Compassion would require them to feel sorry for other people's circumstances, which would require them to have actual feelings. Silly liberal, you!

Here in Colorado, the state GOP has sent out oodles of flyers saying:
"Washington and Wall Street have shattered our trust - only one party can fix a broken Washington."
(funny how that seems to be the same one that broke things in the first place?)
"In these uncertain times, Americans have many questions....Republicans have real answers."
(Uh-huh - real WRONG answers, apparently)
Anyway, the flyers here are just a few among dozens of others being circulated around, on specific candidates and ballot amendments, etc. There is just such a saturation of robocalls and TV ads and flyers, that none of these particular flyers has any real eye-catching or interesting appeal to have any measurable effect.

Values? Hundredes of thousands of innocent Iraqis dead? A nation that ranks 29th in infant mortality? A nation that won't provide health care for all its children? Some values.

The New Republic just published a potentially damaging article about McSlime and his involvement in the KEATING FIVE scandal. Why haven't the democratic 527s pounced on this story yet?

Don't even most Republicans agree that any honor McCain ever had is pretty much in shreds now??

Why the fliers on windshields wasn't there enough guilt put on the congregation during the service?
You can stand in a soup line, and feel good about it, or you be ashamed of a strong growing economy that makes your future secure. The choice is obvious. Oh yeah, and God will punish you if you vote for Obama.
I don't think that God approves that message.

It's no wonder that they cling to guns and religion....hmmm! I remember someone getting a lot of flack for that comment. And when that certain someone said that THEY were going to try and scare voters away from him, he got a lot of flack for that, too. Said he was playing the race card...hmmm.

The Fred Phelps, Bob Jones doctrine of christian love, and acceptance, presents a theology that is littered with tenets worth discussing.

Both my husband and I agree with pretty much everything Wright said, and we are both (white) members of a conservative evangelical denomination. The funny thing is, I think if most christians actually took the time to LISTEN to that entire sermon, they'd find that all that so-called "anti-American" rhetoric is dead on with the sentiments expressed in many of the prophets (Isaiah, Jeremiah, et al).

I was out near Chancellorsville, VA canvassing for Obama yesterday. The local polling place was a small, rural Catholic church with a massive sign (5' x 10' ?) with a big picture of a fetus and some made up number (like 400M?) of the aborted "Americans" since Roe v. Wade. Then at the bottom of the sign, some slogan in foot-high letters that read something like "Pray & Vote for LIFE" - remember, this is the local polling site and the sign is immediately outside the entrance.

I think they're going highbrow on us. Instead of saying Barack Obama supports teaching sex education to kindergartners or supports spending tax dollars on abortion, BO "opposes prohibiting" such measures. Why the sudden shift away from assuming the reader is a total dipshit?

Saw this mailer on my car after church today in Cincinnati, OH.
In his announcements at the end of Mass the priest mentioned that we might find fliers on our cars and that any fliers were NOT approved of by the church and that their distribution was NOT condoned.
