New Obama Ad Stars Dick Cheney
Inevitably, Dick Cheney's endorsement of John McCain yesterday ends up in an Obama ad:
The spot, which is set to run on national cable, also highlights Cheney's kind words about Sarah Palin, and contrasts the Cheney endorsement of the McCain-Palin ticket with the support Obama has won from Warren Buffett and Colin Powell.

Good moring everyone.

9 hours ago · The Republicans have made a last-minute attempt to prevent Barack Obama’s ascent to the White House by trying to recruit an Oxford academic to “prove” that his autobiography was ghostwritten by a former terrorist. With two days before the election, Obama is poised to become America’s first black president, according to polls showing he has an average six-point lead over John McCain, his Republican opponent. Dr Peter Millican, a philosophy don at Hertford College, Oxford, has devised a computer program....

Goes Nowhere seems to be a spammer sans indice. This story was posted on TPM's front page a day or two ago.
"The Republicans" == Rep. Chris Cannon (R-UT). Cannon backed away when the Oxford prof said he'd release the results no matter how they came out.

Frankly, I suspect Bush and Cheney are having some fun with their old nemesis McCain, whom they surely don't like all that much. He's sucked up to them when it mattered to HIM and he dissed them when THAT mattered to him. I don't believe for one minute Cheney didn't know what he was doing...
The Bush/Cheney backstab as they all exit stage right...makes me laugh even more!

Cheney's endorsement neither hurts nor helps cause it has no weight for anyone who is not a die-hard repug.
November 2, 2008 8:21 AM | Reply | Permalink
I swear I believe that.
Cheney isn't clueless and he knows what his approvals are - down in the teens.
For him to come out 72 before the election and endorse McLame just looks to me like he's throwing the election to Obama.
Jonze and CT were saying it was aimed at the downballot races in Wyoming and maybe even presidential race in Wyoming, but god - he gains Wyoming at the expense of the other 50 states!

Or something similar that reminds McLame of his POW experience.

I'm headed out to canvas here in Dayton Ohio. The ground game is pretty staggering. Your dollars are going to very good use.
November 2, 2008 8:38 AM | Reply | Permalink
I graduated from Beavercreek, and much of my family still lives around Dayton. That area epitomizes why Ohio is a battleground: farmland, inner city, big businesses, colleges, a massive military base, and then way out east... Yellow Springs. I'm relieved to hear the ground game is organized. Wish I could be there, because canvassing here in Utah is as pointless as brushing a corpse's teeth.

I didn't get to listen to Sara's prank call until this morning. That was her best interview to date!
November 2, 2008 9:11 AM | Reply | Permalink
One of the best parts is the end, after they tell her she's been pranked and she's telling I think the woman who put her on the phone that it's a radio station and you can hear say: Two guys from France - they're from Montreal.
She thinks Montreal is in France.
That and her "Well, helloooooo there" really stand out for me.

I didn't catch that. I got to go back and replay it, if I can stand it. I live about 150 miles south of Montreal. Ah, it's in my backyard, Sara.
November 2, 2008 9:17 AM | Reply | Permalink
I didn't catch it the first or second time either - Amelie had to point it out. You have to listen, but you can hear her clearly say - "they're from France - Montreal."
I shit you not.

I'm here for the positive energy. I'm about to go spend 2 hours in a Southern Baptist Church in rural Georgia the day after Georgia loses by 39 to Florida and the Sunday before a black Democrat becomes POTUS. I truly love these people and normally defend them to the death, but today might be a bit of an off day for some of them.

Good morning! It's a beautiful day for canvassing in west central Florida. My dad and I will head out at noon. Weather will top out at 79 degrees with maybe a few clouds, and possible sprinkles later. Should be a good day.
It's kind of bittersweet -- this is my last trip out. It's been awesome seeing my community up close and to see how people put their own stamp of uniqueness on their homes. Very cool!
The ad is priceless. I get this curious sense of buoyancy when I watch it.

End of a beautiful autumn day here in the French Alps.
A lot of the French networks are sending their studio teams to the US for the election. I really don't think they would have if McCain was ahead. The Euros are just dying for a change in administration.
I can't get "Hail to the Chief" out of my head. Isn't it great!
November 2, 2008 9:41 AM | Reply | Permalink
Yea, the French Alps are impressive. Spent a week in Val-d'Isere skiing. There's no place in the US comparable.
November 2, 2008 9:59 AM | Reply | Permalink
Probably true, but ever seen the San Juan range of the Rockies? You ain't seen mountains until you've seen them. Overall they are the highest, most rugged mountains in the US and they are breathtaking. People who have seen the Alps say that the San Juans are actually more spectacular.
I've only flown over the Alps coming in to Venice, but flying over them was way impressive.
November 2, 2008 10:02 AM | Reply | Permalink
Been there, done that Tena.
The Alps are not as tall as the Rocky's but the valley floors are considerably lower so they look far more majestic. They really do tower over you.
I've seen the Alps from France, Switzerland, and Austria and the French view is by far the most impressive.
November 2, 2008 10:10 AM | Reply | Permalink
I did extensive hiking in the same. The Alps were so accessible. We were able to do so much with very little external support. Astounding on all counts, but I'm very partial to the western rockies and the desert southwest. -Ever been to Big Bend Nat. Park? I worked there about twenty five years ago. I remember those mountains better than I remember my first girlfriend,... okay, so just as well as. She was lovely too.
I'm in a Damned Good Mood for a change. Big Smiles.
It's going to happen.

I'm delighted to see the Republicans sink so low. For all to see.
And to hear Cheney endorse Palin as ready to lead. You know, under Republican NEOCON control - yup - she's ready to lead.
Cheney's role model is Putin.

I was reading a piece on a rally in Penn where Arlen Specter was openly hoping for racism to carry the election for McLame.
What he said was that there was a "hidden factor" in this election that was going to carry McLame-Painful to the White House.

Fucking Arlen Specter - talk about a useful idiot - he'd sit there on the judiciary committee and talk big about holding Coocoo Bananas responsible for breaking the law and then cave every single goddamn time when the vote came around.

My wife and I canvassed in Lee County (SW FL), Florida, which is decidedly Republican (we of the Sheriff who introduced Palin with Barack HUSSEIN Obama), and our response was great. I am cautiously optimistic about Tuesday in our state.
I am also srving Tuesday as a Voting Rights Mobile Atty. in Lee County so these SOBs do not steal it. Long story short...no one no where lets up now..lets sprint to the finish line and victory, and wake up Weds. with the warmest feeling we have had in a long, long time.

Morning all!
The end of daylight savings is the best Sunday all year. Extra sleep, bright sun, ahhh. I couldn't wait to get up, and I find all of you already here!
I watched a special edition of "Morning Joke" on MSNBC and Scarborough was desperately trying to string together a narrative that race was tightening, and that PA was still up in the air.
Methinks he doth protest too much
