Breaking: Obama Worked Out This Morning, Reporters Couldn't See Him

It's a rough time to be a reporter right now. Check out all the breaking news in today's Obama press pool report:

President-elect Barack Obama's motorcade left the Regents Park complex after his morning workout at 9:30 a.m. The pool could not see him as he entered his SUV. The motorcade arrived at his home minutes later. Obama stayed at his home for nearly two hours, leaving for his transition office downtown at 11:23 a.m. Obama arrived at the Kluczynski Federal Building in downtown Chicago at 11:43 a.m.

Just to illustrate how desperate the scramble for scraps of information is right now among members of the media, consider that for a couple hours now the lead story on Politico 44, a site solely devoted to the transition, has been that Joe Biden's son is set to deploy to Iraq sometime between now and Thanksgiving.

Patience, grasshopper! There will be plenty of news soon enough.

Patience, grasshopper! There will be plenty of news soon enough.

And if there isn't news, soon enough, we'll just start making our own! Gotta have something to bloviate about!

user-pic

The first thing I want Obama to do is _____________.

Time in the gym was time Obama was not working on ____________.

I am very concerned that Obama does not consider __________ to be a high priority.

user-pic

What does it say about the President-elect that he considers time in the gym more important than ____________________? Where are his priorities? I didn't vote for Obama to work out. I voted for him to work out this incredibly important and crucial_______________.

I have to say that I'm deeply disappointed with the lack of progress on ________________after an entire 9 days.

user-pic

I see we had the same idea; though mine was more profane.

user-pic

Great minds think alike, and all...

user-pic

That explains Greg's previous post. No news, so lets make news up.

user-pic

And re-write the same Lieberman story ad nauseum.

user-pic

Noticed that this morning on the bobblehead shows. A lot of absurd speculation about "How the Republicans are going to get their 'brand' back on track. What does it really mean for 2012?" Uh, could we maybe *inaugurate* Obama before we try to replace him?

I don't recall the media being quite so concerned when Kerry lost in '04. I wonder if this is because the media is "the Republican base," or if it's just because Obama is really shutting them out so effectively right now.

One thing for sure: they certainly can't get enough of Bible Spice. It's like the media's going through "Palin withdrawal."

user-pic

I don't recall the media being quite so concerned when Kerry lost in '04.

You know, ME NEITHER. Back then, it was all about Bush's "political capital" and the "mandate" from his 1.2% popular vote win. This year, they started running stories on who might replace Barack in 2012 a whole THREE FUCKING DAYS after the election.

I wonder if this is because the media is "the Republican base,"

Bingo.

user-pic

YES!!

The media could be doing a ton of stories on how historic his campaign was. They could do stories on his fundraising prowess and put that in historical perspective. They could do stories on his metoric rise for the State Senate...his soaring oratory. Or even the massive crowds that came out to hear his speeches from sea to shinning sea.

But nooooo, all we get are story after story on Palin and speculation on what the GOP is going to do and how they are a divided party.

Why?

Because the media is failing to build up respect for the Obama electorate. Failing to grant him praise for his brillance as a strategist, failing to admire his astute political skills or his commanding itellect and about all his unsurpassed leadership skills.

We should be seeing profile after profile that compares this man to prior Presidents at this stage what experiences they brought to the table.

Instead of the American media exalting the era of a new unparalled Presidency...they instead are wallowing and whinning and promoting stories to the 48% who DIDn't vote for Obama.

This is a disgrace. The only thing the media is willing to do is promote Obama like he is a commodity.

Can you beleive it? What is the only thing the 52% can hear....a DVD for SALE....they are shamelessly hawking ...we have to pay for information that will reveiw his speeches...

Never in the history of our nation has a President-elect been so conspicuously ignored while they provide interview after interview on a nitwit twit name Palin.

user-pic

In all fairness, isn't that what this blog did by speculating on the "worry" that some have about whether or not Obama will act swiftly on healthcare?

That is no more or less speculation than making up someone as a cabinet secretary.

user-pic

"Patience, Grasshopper...."

Come on, you had to chuckle a little, writing that less than an hour after the Healthcare post, below.

user-pic

Isn't the breaking news that Obama has made off with $85 million enough for journalists to work with?

http://www.theonion.com/content/news/international_con_man_barack_obama

user-pic

The fact that Gorbachev is one of his disguises is what makes it Genius.

user-pic

total South Park ripoff, not quite up to normal Onion standards.

user-pic

OK, and for some REAL NEWS...looks like Sarah Palin really DOES know Africa is a continent and McCain's aide was just pulling a prank on MSNBC knowing they'd fall for it.

Once again, being the first to run a story isn't always the best thing, guys!

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/11/13/msnbc-retracts-story-sour_n_143517.html

user-pic

But the point is, that doesn't change the fact she's an idiot...

user-pic

Actually, the original story about Africa came from Fox news. MSNBC just erroneously reported that someone had 'fessed up as being the source.

user-pic

The hoax was about the identity of the source:

"The hoax was limited to the identity of the source in the story about Palin _ not the Fox News story itself. While Palin has denied that she mistook Africa for a country, the veracity of that report was not put in question by the revelation that Eisenstadt is a phony."

user-pic

FOX broke the story. Not MSNBC.

user-pic
...looks like Sarah Palin really DOES know Africa is a continent...

Seems there is a question concerning the exact reference. Multiple sources on the continent subject reveals some MSM stating completely different source than Eisenstadt. It's a definite maybe she did not know at the moment in question. I'm sure she's aware Africa is a continent now, but no one bother to ask her to identify it on a map. There's still hope out there for the MSM to redeem themselves yet!

user-pic

But what about Joe Lieberman? Doesn't Obama's workout give some signal about what should happen to Joe? Shorts, Joe stays; long sweats, Joe goes, anything?

user-pic

Obama is laying LOW right now because he has absolutely NO POWER to change the economy right now until he is sworn in office.

The economy is tanking and Obama does NOT want to be the face of it until he actually is sworn.

user-pic

No point in inheriting misfortune before their time. It's Bu$h's bastard for the moment so let him deal with it.

user-pic

Obama is not jsut laying low. Obama is creating a plan the likes of which this nation has never seen.

He is going to unleash a tidal wave of change when he takes office. It is going to be similiar to the scene in the Godfather, where Michael Corleone is at the baptism of Connies baby becoming the Godfather under the rites of religion while his true rise to power is unfolding across the nation as his soldiers consolidate his power by waxes his enemies.

The difference is that he is going to send out the heads of his cabinet and agencies and they are going to unfold laws, regulations and policies that benefit the American people.

There will be sweeping changes. And the media will not be able to cover them all because Obama will unleash them simultaneously. The changes are going to be broad and deep.

The diluge of information will swamp the media and they will not be able to adequately cover the changes in detail.

Only in the 3rd year of his Presidency will they be able to look back and see the profound nature of how he changed our government.

Right now the naysayers and tongue waggers and gossipmongers are left to whine and disparage to raise doubts and circulate rumors and innuendos that will diminish their credibility such that no one will pay heed to their negativity in the future.

I know Obama as a Constitutional lawyer is going to turn this government upside down. This man has been waiting to make these changes.

If the media was smart they would look up some of his former students and colleagues to find out what all Obama talked about as being unconstitutional while Bush was in office.

user-pic

To wit:

"Worry Grows That Obama Won't Act Swiftly Enough On Health Care"

user-pic

Why the fuck is he working out and not working on [insert description of pet issue]?!?!? If he's not working on [insert description of pet issue], it's clear we are never going to get it done in the 1400+ days of his presidency. Change my ass!!!!

user-pic

Why would you want to change your ass? You have a perfectly nice ass!

user-pic

Their are many flavors of asses people enjoy adorning themselves with, like rude, crude and crass. No one wants to be the perfect ass...that one's especially reserved for Bu$h.

user-pic

I'm more concerned with the Intrade predictions on this page. I think Obama's hit a plateau against McCain & could very well lose this one if he's not careful.

user-pic

Or maybe Palin will gather the AIP forces and team up with the southern states to break away and throw their allegiance behind a McCain-Palin administration.

user-pic

The south tried that once before in 1861. Up until this election the War Between the States, as they affectionately call the Civil war, was an undeclared cease-fire. Now they have to come to grips with reality, finally. An offer to join Alaska to succeed wouldn't be too far fetch of an idea to most of them so as to avoid reversed enslavement.

user-pic

Why can't Obama close the deal?!

user-pic

I hear Barack took a crap at 6:48:33 AM Central. Scott brand TP was employed. When he washed his hands (Kohler sink), the water temp was 79.4 fahrenheit. The brand of liquid soap he used could not be determined. It did not contain the antibacterial agent Triclosan, but was considered sufficient to the task due to strong surfactant characteristics and the inclusion of herbal extracts imparting natural antiseptic qualities. Paper towels were provided by Georgia Pacific, from a touch-free automatic dispenser.

Sources who were in the men's room at the time report that the toilet seat was down when Obama left the room at precisely 6:57:48 AM. A copy of a local independent weekly newspaper was found in the stall.

user-pic

Story next day: "Some worry that Obama refuses to recognize the crucial role antibacterial agents play in preventing the spread of the common cold."

And relatedly, "Republican sources claim that Obama, by using paper toweling dispensed by Georgia Pacific, is signaling that lobbyists are, in fact, welcome in his administration."

John McCain, when asked of his impressions said only "If Obama had done eleventy thousand town halls like we wanted him to, he'd have known to use the air driers, not the paper toweling."

user-pic

"Sources close to no one in particular are concerned that the handwashing episode signals Obama's preference for non-traditional/alternative preventive healthcare strategies that may not be readily accepted by America's center-right electorate."

user-pic

Another source posits that Obama is concerned with the overuse of antibacterial agents and also their actual benefit. The source claims that Obama naively believes that soap 'washes germs away'. The source named a few scientific papers that back up Obama's claim but then quietly muttered that Obama is a "closet Luddite".

user-pic

Touche sir!

:-)

user-pic

Oh my Lord...why didn't I just believe what you wrote here instead of going to see it for myself?!?! I've never visited the site before and won't be going back again. All that Hillary-worship just isn't healthy.

user-pic

Be careful !!!

if the MSM hears of this, they just may take you seriously and all of us here will be called in as character witnesses as to your validity.

user-pic

As someone said in a previous thread, it's going to be a very long four years ....

user-pic

Just checked out Hillaryis44.org for the first time in a couple months.

Ummmm, wow.

user-pic

I looked over there yesterday. Reading that stuff is like reading the journal of someone descending further and further into isolation and madness. Really, I was looking around to see if they were urging people to stockpile guns and ammo!

user-pic

I just looked for the first time as well. It really has that crazy person look about it. If it were done on a typewriter, the letters would be all crooked from someone slamming the keys and if it were written with a pen, there would be holes and tears in the paper.

user-pic

It is scary, but I did get a laugh out of the phrase "Hopium eaters".

user-pic

I went there the day after the election expecting some sweet, sweet schaedenfrude and ended up just being sad.

user-pic

Jon Stewart made the "reporters couldn't see him" joke on Tuesday, didn't he?

user-pic

His shot of Obama flying in the Wonder Woman style invisible plane was LOL worthy!

user-pic

Even better on Politico44 is the hourly schedule in the sidebar:
9:00 a.m. - Obama dropped kids off at school but stayed in the SUV {what??? he stayed in the car?? oh, the nerve}
9:08 a.m. (yes, it's to the minute!) - Obama arrives at the gym {what? no description of what he was wearing?}

And this is what the press pool is relegated to reporting now...

user-pic

Maybe they can get him to wear a webcam lapel pin.

user-pic

Lapel pin? Man, the first thing he did after he won was throw that fucking thing in the garbage. :)

user-pic

You haven't seen the new hammer-and-sickle pin?

user-pic

haha

user-pic

***BREAKING NEWS***

ddd.dd.d.ddd.dd.d

Obama switches to 1% Milk from 2% after reporter makes jokes about his waistline.

And now, back to originally scheduled programming.

user-pic

We now have entered into the first 'reality-show-based' presidency.

user-pic

What's the prize for the reporter who scoops whether Barack wears boxers (silk or otherwise) or briefs,,,, and which colors if not white.

Silly season time again, it would seem.
