Poll: Obama Leaps Ahead In Missouri
In another indication that Barack Obama is gaining steam in Republican-Leaning states, a new SurveyUSA poll is giving Obama a big lead in Missouri, a perennial swing state where John McCain has been ahead for much of this year.
The numbers: Obama 51%, McCain 43%, with a ±4.3% margin of error. SurveyUSA's previous poll from late September gave McCain a 48%-46% lead, and on the whole the most recent polls haven't given either a candidate an edge of more than just a few points.
The poll shows Obama holding down a solid 89% of self-identified Democrats, and winning independents by a 46%-41% margin.

McCain is on his way to being a supernova, he is flaming hard and is really close to exploding. I think we may have a meltdown on our hands soon, keep a camera on this guy 24/7, that is going to be priceless to watch!

No complacency!
We have to get Obama 60 Senate seats, especially since several of the 60 "Dems" are actually Repubs. We must work harder than ever over the next couple of weeks. Almost there!

From my part of the universe, McCain is collapsing into a black hole never to be seen or heard from again.

And he's going to take that New Age Anita Bryant with him.

Where are Ripper McCord and Missouri Voter (was his name Greg Delassius) when you need them? They should gloat - and give us some perspective -- on this.
Also, the St. Louis Post Dispatch endorsed Obama yesterday, describing McCain as "the incredible shrinking man."

I tried to post a gloating post, but there were evidently not enough nodes to accomodate it (maybe the nodes do not approve of gloating?). I have been reluctant to try to type it up again because 1) it was longer than I care to replicate and 2) sometimes these things just take a while to materialize, and I do not want to create a needless duplicate if that is the case. I guess we will see if it shows up eventually.

The worrying thing for McCain now is that in his last few years in the retirement home he's going to be tarred with the Dole brush and have a great big 'L' stamped on his forehead.
Can't wait.

The numbers are outstanding. I am not sure many people not actively involved understand just how much the Obama people have done for the Missouri Democratic party especially in Jackson County. I have never seen anything like the Obama campaign people. Way to go, keep up the good work. Now if we can pull Kay Barnes over the finish line.

SurveyUSA, which did the Missouri poll, is one of Nate Silver's highest-rated pollsters.
ND would be nice, but I'll settle for MO, FL, NC, VA, OH, IN, NV and NM.
Juan is right -- no complacency. Keep working, giving, talking to your neighbors, whatever.

Senator McCatskill(sp?) has been campaigning hard for Obama. Looks like her work may be paying off. What if barack won the whole of the South (where I am from. That would be AWESOME!)

Obama definitely has a healthy lead right now, but a number of other polls indicate that the race is tightening up. (see: http://www.polltrack.com/presidential)
