New Poll: Bachmann Fighting For Political Life

The first independent poll is out in Minnesota's Sixth District, which has been put into contention thanks to Rep. Michele Bachmann's (R-MN) McCartheyesque rant on Hardball last week -- and it shows a race that could be tightly contested all the way to Election Day.

The new numbers from SurveyUSA: Democratic candidate El Tinklenberg 47%, Bachmann 44%, and Independence Party candidate Bob Anderson 6%, with a ±4% margin of error.

Bachmann could still win this thing, as the district voted 57%-42% for George W. Bush in 2004. But the race has really been upended. After Bachmann's remarks on national television, and then her ham-fisted attempts to deny she ever said them, Tinklenberg has raised $1.45 million from donors across the country -- and the DCCC committed $1 million on top of that. And the NRCC has pulled their ad reservations, leaving Bachmann to fight this one out on her own.

Meanwhile, the Family Research Council's PAC put out a statement condemning the NRCC for pulling out of this race and that of Rep. Marilyn Musgrave (R-CO), another champion of the Christian Right: "It appears that the NRCC is abandoning social conservative candidates and the issues for which they stand, particularly if they are championed by some of the most promising female legislators in the Congress. This is no time to cut and run from a fight."

THIS IS EXCELLENT NEWS FOR MICHELE!!!

user-pic

Yeah, let's see this feminist stand on her own two feet!

user-pic

I am a liberal democrat with 20 years of Army service. Does that make me anti American? I don't think so. That is why Ed got some of my money.

Obama 08

user-pic

His name is El

not spanish "he", rather it is short for a very welsh "Elwyn"

user-pic

I had no confidence in this district given that they voted for Bachmann in the first place, but this is phenomenal.

Wow. Get on the El train!!

user-pic

Glad to see Musgrave circling the drain as well:

user-pic

Last week I stayed up all night spreading El Tinklenberg"s Act Blue page everywhere I could. I knew the second I saw that thing spinning on the refresh what we were witnessing a new level of politics, that it had it's foundation in the Dean campaign. Joe Trippi must to smiling somewhere tonight.

user-pic

That's a huge deal if its true. The rats are already jumping ship. Maybe we will see a fundamental reorienting of the Republican Party, and watch the Dobsons and Hannitys of the world choke on their own bile.

Hallelujah.

user-pic

From your keyboard to God's monitor!

user-pic

And the Repub party breaks in two, the Wall Street corpratists, and the snake handlers... and they both spend a generation in the wilderness. Whisper words of wisdom, let it bee-eeeee.

user-pic

If Tinklenberg wins this will probably be one of the biggest upsets this election.

user-pic

I was wondering when the next Macaca moment was going to happen.

We needed some excitement in the plunging of this so-called republican majority that rove architected so masterfully.

it didn't help that the sex scandals of congressional district FL-16 was lame this cycle. so he slept with ugly women staffers and now his wife is leaving him. big deal. that is so newt. so 90's.

and elliot spitzer was a million years ago.

so pitchforking on Michele Bachmann will just have to do.

user-pic

Moe has a point, how did they elect her dumb ass in the first place???
But really, this would be absolutely priceless if she loses (and it would be her loss rather than a Tink win). She just couldn't help herself and had to run her mouth in an attempt to endear herself to the bigwigs of the repug party. I sincerely hope that Minnesota dumps her on her moronic ass.
She is now at #4 in my Top 10 election wishes:

1. Obama-Biden victory
2. Andrew Rice victory
3. Proposition 8 (Ca.) defeat
4. Bachmann loss

user-pic

Don't forget Marilyn Musgrove in Colorado. She should be number five. Something to keep us up on the 4th after the Pres. election is called at 8:00 Eastern time.

user-pic

I thought I was gonna have a stroke waiting for numbers. I got 20 people to go in and call for El. Y'all turn out as many folks as you can. Call the campaign and put in whatever time you can. We should have them set up virtual phone banks for folks out of state. The funds in can pay for media, but we need folks on the phones, stat.

Mzellar just a small reminder, always leave a link, when urging folks on, direct them to where you want them to go. I'm in Texas, so folks in Minn. might not enjoy my drawl. Although I always called Minnesotans "Blue-eyed Texans".

OT but tonight Mom told me she is passing on. She'll live to see this election through and has a very good shot at Inauguration. Down to one kidney going at 39%. She won't do dialysis; said she's at peace with her decision. She's going out on her own terms.

This woman marched with the Civil Rights Movement, raised four kids as a single Mom while going to school and teaching, taught me Democratic ideals, cried when Nixon won (we had a laugh tonight reminiscing about Tricky Dick being way too liberal for the McSlut party), really cried when Reagan won, talked both of us out of suicide when W won (both times), and is thrilled to be alive to participate in this historic election.

I'm sad, and oh so thankful for being born unto this beautiful person. Your good wishes are much appreciated.

user-pic

Sorry to hear about your mother. She sounds like a down to earth person and she is lucky to have a child like you...

user-pic

You've got 'em.

user-pic

Thanks folks.

user-pic

O my dear - I'm glad you are getting time to talk to her - that's a good thing. She sounds so wonderful - how lucky you are to have such a mother!

I'm so sorry -it's terribly hard. I know. You can talk to me about it and/or her any time.

user-pic

Thanks Tena.

user-pic

Talk while you can. Ask for personal stories. Remember them. Share your time - it's the most valuable thing you have between you now.

And my thoughts are with you. I have been exactly there. Be strong.

user-pic

We lost Doc lucky, he was a Mahu, he would be proud today.

user-pic

Glad she could see it happen.

Wish my Mom and Dad could have made it this far. They'd have been thrilled too.

user-pic

She must be so proud of you for volunteering! I am, and I don't even know you other than here. The very wonderful thing about your mom is her ability to laugh in the face of adversity. I hope with all my heart you two will be rejoicing together when Barack Obama is sworn in. Enjoy each day.

user-pic

You and Obama have another thing to share now. He is losing his grandmother -- a woman who is *in loco matris* to him. You and he are both deliberately saying goodbye to a wonderful human who is part of yourselves. Even in grief, you are thereby fortunate folks.

user-pic

I'm sorry to hear that news. I lost my best friend to cancer this summer at the age of 45. One thing he told me before he died was that he was so sad he was not going to be able to witness this election.

I'm headed to Ohio next week to volunteer for the campaign and his picture will be by my side at all times.

user-pic

This is terrible.

The Congress already has enough sane, respectable people. We need wild-eyed lunatics like Michele Bachmann to make things interesting.

I say keep her around for her comic value.

user-pic

It's long been my view that we should elect the nuttiest among us, by degree, to the highest, most visible offices in the land in order to be able to keep our eye on them.

And so they aren't in our neighborhood when they become really dangerous.

user-pic

No, we don't need anyone in Congress for FUN.

This country has important business to do and we need serious stable intelligent people on board getting to work with a new President.

If you want funny diversions, play with your kids.

user-pic

Has anyone besides me noticed the really unsettling similarities between former FL Secretary of State Katherine Harris, soon-to-be-former MN Congresswoman Michelle Bachman, and the rapidly diminishing AK Gov. Sarah Palin?
It's that whole dyed brunette, smeary red-lipsticked, grinning, monotonal-talking-points thing.
I don't know.
The Stepford Lies or something...

Ack.

user-pic

Testify. They are demon-possessed reptilian human organ eaters. They are like the evil sect of Bene Gesserit witches from the Dune books (not the good ones, the evilmean ones); the ones from the later books who would seduce their victim to have sex and then destroy them during the act or enslave them.

I could never fuck a republican. But that's what these crazy bitches remind me of.

user-pic

Yeah. Bene Gesserit. I typed "Witches" before I typed "Stepford", then deleted it. It's that weird look they get when their mouths are moving while their brains are frantically trying to find a verb. Palin sez, "This great country of America and her allies" and McCain sez "My friends".
Or as Jon Stewart put it, you can just see the word
"loading..."
"loading..."
"loading..."
blinking above their heads.

user-pic

Sarah Palin is completely unqualified and in way over her head, but she's nowhere near as crazy as Bachmann. Bachmann seems like she needs some kind of treatment. I hope she gets her ass handed to her, although I expect she would not get it. That's why I sent Tinklenberg $25.

user-pic

I sent money to ET, too. Seems I remember some blogger writing that Bachman was about to witness the power of the Netroots and have her butt handed to her. Then, BOOM!!! -- ET gets $1.45Mil from all of us and the DCCC tosses in another Mil.

Gotta love it. There's something vaguely Ender's Game-ish about the instantaneous use of the Collective. Can't quite put my finger on it.

user-pic

Yes!

user-pic

Excellent news in the poll. A statistical dead heat based on +/- 4%, but when you dig down into the demographics there are some very positive numbers:
50+ (44% of LV) = ET leads by 10 points.
Female (51% of LV) = ET leads by 12 points.
Moderate (46% of LV) = ET leads by 34 points.
Factor in the financial picture for both candidates and this is looking good for El.

user-pic

Are Truth, Justice and the American Way going to finally have their day?

We've got Bachman on the ropes. The NRCC is abandoning the wingnuts. 98% registered in Michigan. Remember, McCain abandoned Michigan. Early voting. Millions of new voters, going 2-1 for Barack.

Last Stand Pennsylvania? Not happening. The Republican brand is in tatters. Palin's wardrobe is worth more than most people in Pennsylvania make in 3 years.

user-pic

It's really hard to process all this - it does leave me kind of breathless.

I can never quite tell if it's really happening or if I'm making it up.

I think it's really happening. I feel like I'm being released from the asylum soon and I've forgotten what it's like out there and I'm excited, but I'm not sure they're really going to open that door for me.

LOL!

user-pic

Ditto, plus!

It's hard to believe but the reign of Dubbya is nearly kaput.

Sort of a King of Hearts moment with a happier ending.

user-pic

We are in this world; let's do something good with it. Eckhart Tolle was recording an interview on the radio on 9/11; he said human consciousness is rising and the madness about us is the thrashing of a dying beast.

So, yeah, I do believe love prevails. We're heading into better times in the nick of time. Despair had a tight grip on me for a bit; peace!

user-pic

Peace out!

I'm going to bed. Good night peeps.

We are headed to a better place.

motocat, I'll hold you and your mother in my heart.

user-pic

Just read your post. Guess we both like the Times editorial. ;-)

user-pic

This Cow cost me $50 in beer!

user-pic

I'm glad she's getting her just desserts. I hope this is a small sign that the Republican Party is going to wise up and marginalize these crazy people.

user-pic

I grew up in Minnesota, and it was known to be liberal territory. Hence my liberal leaning hippie commie roots. I am astounded they have even elected someone like this, what the hell has happened to Minnesota??? I hope she gets her ass kicked. I am more angry about all the lying afterward actually, with such a straight holier-than-thou face. What asses these "Christians" are that profess their divine right to tell us what to think and how to act. Real Christians would never have voted for her. In fact, the whole Christian in your face crap has made me agnostic.

user-pic

I think something shifted in Minnesota when Wellstone died in 2002. I lived in Minnesota then, and I remember how crushing it was for liberals and Democrats, to the point that plenty of conspiracy theories were flying around surrounding the circumstances of his death. At Wellstone's funeral, his friend gave a moving tribute that called on voters to keep Wellstone's seat Democratic, and there was a huge backlash against the politicization of the moment--never mind that the speech was raw, emotional, unscripted, and appropriate for the person Wellstone was.

After that, Coleman was elected, the GOP took several contested House and state legislature seats, and Pawlenty won the governor's race. The whole state shifted to the right. I know, correlation isn't causation, but to me, this was the moment that Minnesota became a little disappointing.

user-pic

I was born in Minnesota in 1946 and have lived here most of my life except for 10 years in the 70's.

Minnesota has always had a very mixed politics. In a famous article in 1946, Carey McWilliams declared Minneapolis the 'captital of anti-semitism'; I've seen pictures of apartment buildings with 'for rent' signs specifying 'no dogs or jews'. In the early 70's Minneapolis elected Charlie Stenvig mayor-- a local copy of Frank Rizzo -- and cops drove through black neighborhoods broadcasting threats in celebration of his election.
That all counterbalances the progressive traditions of the Farmer Labor party, early Hubert Humphrey, Paul Wellstone and more.
The district that elected Bachmann is a sort of gerry mandered wrapper of third tier suburbs to the north and east of the the Twin Cities. That territory includes the original home of Lake Woebegone. Keilor's books -- more than the radio show -- go to describing the dark side of that territory.
Bachmann's base is in the evangelicals in that territory. The people are generally not particularly well off working class folks who moved out to the third tier as an affordable alternative to living with the diversity of the cities. They face long commutes, stagnating wages, and a great deal of frustration. The culture wars misdirect that frustration but give them some focus and a vocabulary to describe their frustration. It is not a happy territory at this point.
What we need to do, and what the Obama campaign has begun, is to give them an alternative narrative that can describe their frustration. The younger people are coming over but there is a lot of work to be done.

user-pic

She really is crazy. I've watched her several times on the cable circuit and she always has that look in her eye that makes me sick at the thought that people like this could possibly get elected to office.

I wouldn't vote this crazy idiot to organize the Christmas party let alone vote in the House. It's just unbelievable. Hopefully America is waking up with a great big nudge from the batshit crazy nutbags themselves...

user-pic

This is the result of the Christian Right deciding years ago to grab a seat at the political table to advance their Holy Agenda. It's just now becoming clear how batshit crazy some of their successful candidates are.

The voters are now riveted to political news, due to the economic
crisis, like they haven't been since 1980 and the Iranian hostage crisis. Hopefully, that will be enough light to catch all these cockroaches out before they can scurry back under that greasy fridge where they live.

user-pic

In the NY Times endorsement of Obama, they state that the "politics of fear, division and character assassination.... has been the dominant theme of [Bush's] failed presidency."

It's also been the mainstay of the Republican Party. But as they say in their editorial:

"The nation’s problems are simply too grave to be reduced to slashing “robo-calls” and negative ads. This country needs sensible leadership, compassionate leadership, honest leadership and strong leadership. Barack Obama has shown that he has all of those qualities."

user-pic

I'm from Minnesota and have lived in Stillwater, MN where Michelle started out. She hates the Gay population; and her sister is gay. Apparently hasn't spoken to her in a long time. She dis'd the gays so badly that the gay population, who frequented the tourist town of Stillwater, MN refused to travel to or shop there!!!
Michelle Bachman had (was forced?) to apologize to the Gay's and SHE DID! Even though she hates Gay's!
Michelle's just another fradulent human being who has a gay sister and refuses to talk to her because she BELIEVES her sister, her own flesh and blood, made a BAD CHOICE. And Michelle, who's a Repub and *allegedly* believes in family values?.................doesn't really have...... a family.
Why? Because she thinks her sister is "different" and not eligible to be a part of her family.
Think about it.
It's.......well, so un-family-like.
What could Michelle's children be thinking about their *exorcised* Aunt?

user-pic

I have a cousin
Judy is her name
Jesus got into Judy's brain
Now Judy is insane

user-pic

I lived near you. My children (2 out of 3) are gay and my sister seems to think it was a bad parent, i.e., me. We don't talk much either. I could not believe she implied that, and now she denies she said it, but I will never forget it. She is a devout Catholic who likes to send emails about Obama denying medical care to aborted babies that live....... you know the type, a (in her so called mind) perfect person who could never vote for Obama, but hey, it's okay to drop bombs on more innocents.......

user-pic

The past few weeks have shown me that there is more than one type of Republican. I never really differentiated them before as I come from a very Democratic family and hometown. (Repubs Bad-Democrats Good) ;-)

But I am seeing two distinct types: the Christianist and the intellectual. People like Palin, Bachmann belonging to the Christianists and those like Hagel, Snowe who belong to the more independent, intellectual side. I see great differences between the two but yet they all call themselves Republicans. Why don't they split and form two separate parties? They don't have much in common anymore so what keeps them together? The Christianists always infuse politics with religion which is a mistake according to our Constitution. Why don't the independent Republicans distance themselves and salvage some of the old Republican pride?

user-pic

Agree. And they are violating the Constitution actually. It is mandated to separate church and state, something this country is ignoring more and more, at great peril.

user-pic
user-pic

Bachmann is out of the very conservative Wisconsin Synod Lutheran tradition, but she has quite strong links to conservative Catholic and Mega Church (non-denominational) groups. In contrast, her opponent, El Tinklenberg is an ordained Pastor in the ELCA, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America -- the largest Lutheran Body which has reasonably progressive social positions. Tinklenberg does not pastor a church, he is a supply pastor, meaning he takes short term assignments to parishes when a pastor becomes sick, dies, takes a leave for travel, etc. Over the years he has temp. pastored a number of congregations in this district -- and the district is, on the eastern end, the heartland of Swedish America. Hopefully this network will work for him.

Arne Carlson's endorsement today -- of both Obama and Tinklenberg, is very important. Carlson was Governor between 90 and 98, and lives in Forest Lake in the District. I hope he will follow up on his appearance at the Capitol today. My dream would be that Colin Powell and Carlson would do a joint appearance for Tinklenberg. (This is, afterall, a majority Republican District.) Likewise it is important that Ventura speak up. El Tinklenberg served in Jesse Ventura's cabinet between 99 and 2003 as Transportation Commissioner -- Ventura's cabinet was bi-partisian, and in fact Ventura's chief of staff is managing the campaign. Ventura won the 6th when he ran in 98, and lives in the district. Tinklenberg will be a strong Democrat in DC, but it is important to understand the necessity of working the cross party dynamics in this district. The Bob Anderson running on the Independence line is a ringer from the Bachmann organization. The Independence party itself actually endorses Tinklenberg. As things have happened in the last week, the DFL's joint GOTV for Obama, Franken, and legislative candidates is ready to plug into Tinklenberg's campaign in a big way. And yes, the ads have begun....

user-pic

Is there a worse person in America than La Bachmann?

user-pic

In the immortal words of Leon Black - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YzofbXbJ9f4

user-pic
user-pic

They definitely should work out a deal. She seems way too divisive.

user-pic

I'm excited about Obama, but I have to tell you I am sad about what has happened to the GOP.... I watched the "gotcha interview".... Chris Matthews asked questions and she opened her mouth and the most inane answers flowed.. Have you noticed EVERY time some Republican says something stupid, they blame it on a gotcha.....

she wants the Congress to investigate for anti-American activities... have none of these Pols studied history - I think McCarthy already did that ..... truly, lady, we all know that you have no brains, but.... Have you no sense of decency?

user-pic

Let's not go so overboard on our demonization of the Christian Right that we forget that the real villians are the greedy crony capitalists who still run the Republican Party (Exhibit A: Phil Gramm). The theocrats are merely a pawn in the Big Money Republicans game.

That's probably why they are pulling out support from the Bachmann types in their party. These people are hurting their chances to make a strong rump minority (in collusion with "Blue Dog Democrats") to fight against the "socialist" tendencies of an Obama administration, and the continuation of blind laissez faire policies is the Republican Party's real agenda.

The Phil Gramms have done more damage to the fabric of our society than all of the evangelicals combined.

user-pic

You don't have to make a choice between them, as they are, or at least have been a working coalition. At this juncture the objective is to fracture that coalition. There are a number of cracks, and they just need to be spread a bit and the coalition will die.

Apparently some younger Evangelicals are taking up Poverty and Earth Stewardship (Evangelical speak for Global Warming) and if so, that's a crack in the coalition.

More dependable is what Thomas Frank got at in "What's the Matter With Kansas" -- meaning why do middle and working class folk vote against their economic interests? This too will help fracture the coalition.

user-pic

More good news for McCain -

TALLAHASSEE -- Barack Obama has opened up a 49-42 percent lead over John McCain in Florida, according to a new Miami Herald poll showing the Democrat earns high marks on the economy and is drawing significant support from the swing voters who decide elections in the nation's largest swing state.

http://www.miamiherald.com/news/politics/florida/story/739225.html

user-pic

Here's another one -

A new St. Petersburg Times/Bay News 9/Miami Herald poll shows Sen. Barack Obama leading McCain 49 percent to 42 percent in this state McCain cannot afford to lose. The biggest factor? Less partisan independent voters moving to Obama by a ratio of more than 2-to-1.

user-pic

OT, but Obama's first-half October fund-raising number drops (it's $36 mil).

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081024/ap_on_el_pr/campaign_money;_ylt=AhpKAo2xwZYdmpSyWpGVfgZsnwcF

The Thursday midnight "deadline" has passed but we can still donate... let's do so if you can afford.

user-pic

I know I dropped some more scratch on him. And frankly I'm GLAD to see he's spending the money. I'd actually be pissed if he was sitting on $100MM as of 15 October.

user-pic

You might waqnt him to hold onto some of the millions with which to contest any Republican efforts to steal the election.

user-pic

At this point I think the Republicans would prefer to have this election and be done with it. Things seem to be going from bad to worse for them. (Isn't it great!)

I am glad that it will be over, but I am starting to think if this election was on Dec 4 instead of Nov 4 we would be talking about the battleground states of Texas and Idaho...

user-pic

I wrote about this elsewhere too. I don't see why the Rs are trying to suppress early voting. It seems that, with each passing day, the story gets worse and worse for them. They should have been encouraging early voting because their numbers a week ago looked WAY better than they look now and the numbers now likely look better than they will in a week.

They need to get people to vote NOW rather than waiting for a week which will, more than likely, just give more of them a chance to change their minds.

user-pic

That FRC Pac thing is really kinda revealing. Fact is, from what I read El's a pretty conservative Dem and pretty much with the Family Va-yuse crowd on most issues. I think those guys must just like Bachmann's positions on fascism (for it, big time).

user-pic

Motocrat,

My thougths are with you and your mom. Sometimes the greatest dignity a person can achieve is making the decision to "own" the end of their life.

I remember when my partner, Nathan was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Lymphoma in August of 2005. He only lived 10 months after his diagnosis. Six weeks before he died, I remember Nathan looked into my eyes and said "I am done with all this". And he was. He was resolute. No more chemo. No more radiation. No more fighting. He chose to go out on his own terms. Nathan was a beautiful man, and I miss him. But when he made the decision to stop treatment I saw a peace in him that I hadn't seen in him in months and months. It broke my heart, because a 28 year old man shouldn't die of cancer. But he owned it. It was his life and and it was his death.

Reading about you and your mom brought tears to my eyes today.

I'm a Democrat for a lot of reasons. But dignity in life and dignity in death is one of them. The hypocrisy of Republicans makes me so angry. They scream "personal freedoms! personal freedoms!" But then they want to legislate what we do with our bodies. It makes my head want to explode.

Anyway, God Bless you and your Mom.

Palin’s Makeup Stylist Fetches Highest Salary in 2-Week Period

Who was the highest paid individual in Senator John McCain’s presidential campaign during the first half of October as it headed down the homestretch?

Not Randy Scheunemann, Mr. McCain’s chief foreign policy adviser; not Nicolle Wallace, his senior communications staff member. It was Amy Strozzi, who was identified by the Washington Post this week as Gov. Sarah Palin’s traveling makeup artist, according to a new filing with the Federal Election Commission on Thursday night.

Ms. Strozzi, who was nominated for an Emmy award for her makeup work on the television show “So You Think You Can Dance?”, was paid $22,800 for the first two weeks of October alone, according to the records. The campaign categorized Ms. Strozzi’s payment as “PERSONNEL SVC/EQUIPMENT.”

Gosh, I am delighted to be proven wrong. I was certain when the RNCC pulled its money out of this race that this meant that they had reason to believe that Bachmann was a sure thing. I simply could not buy Josh Marshall's take on it, ie that this was the RNCC expressing their consternation with her. Evidently, however, Marshall really was right and I could not be more pleased.

Well, actually, I take that back; I could be more pleased, and I am, because I am even more delighted to see that bit about the Family Research Council grousing about the party slighting Christian conservatives. There is nothing I would like better than to see Family Research Council and their ilk nurse a grudge against the Republican party. A good old fashioned civil war in the GOP would do my heart good. Please, Dr Dobson, cultivate that resentment and point a few fingers at the Chamber of Commerce and Newt Gingrich and the like. Remember Michelle Bachmann. Remember Marilyn Musgrave. Do it for them.

user-pic

Well Mo, you really stepped in it this time! Guess well see you doing the weather on Fox in Minnisota!

user-pic

I don't have a lot of money, hell, I'm flat broke to be frank, but I sucked it up on this one. Every time I see that horrible creature's face (Bachmann) it reinforces how important it is that once and for all us Dems take back control over decency and integrity. She's a nasty piece of work. I think I'll donate again now, as it's gotten me riled up just talking about it. What a ignorant, dangerous woman.

I'd like to emphasize what Sara said earlier. There's an Independence party candidate pulling 6% in this race. But, the Independence party has endorsed Tinklenberg. If Bob Anderson had a shred of decency, or the best interests of his own party in mind, he'd drop out now.

Minnesota's Sixth District needs to go to El.

I wish I lived in MN just so I could cast a vote for someone named Elwyn Tinklenberg. What a great name! I guess I'll have to settle for sending him some bucks.

And MotoCrat - all of my very best wishes and sincere gratitude to you and your mom.

I have never contributed to a campaign outside of my area (San Diego), but I made an exception when I heard the UnAmerican comments by Michelle Bachmann. I sent $50 to her opponent. This could go down in history as the stupidest thing ever said by a politician.

The only thing better than America dumping these fascists is for Murtha to get the ol' heave ho at the same time! Get rid of all the deadwood at once and let Obama govern leaders of goodwill.

Right: he should be replaced by his opponent, a Republican.

Some have no sense of proportion.
