New Obama Ad Hammers McCain's Mortgage Plan And Judgment In Time Of Crisis

The Obama campaign is going up with a new ad that questions McCain's judgment "in a time of crisis" by hitting the mortgage refinancing plan that McCain sprung during Tuesday night's debate:

The details of McCain's plan are now available, and the the ad hits McCain's plan by saying it "would shift the burden from lenders to taxpayers, guaranteeing a loss of taxpaper money."

The ad says the same lenders who caused the crisis would benefit, and uses this to tie McCain to Bush: "Putting bad actors ahead of taxpayers? We can't afford more of the same."

The spot signals the opening of a new offensive by the Obama campaign: As part of Obama's big jobs and economy tour through Ohio today, his advisers say, he'll be playing up his criticsm of McCain's mortgage plan.

But... but... McCain's got a 'steady hand at the tiller'....!

Rrrright.

Keep up the attacks Obama campaign. Keep them on the issues. That is what's destroying the McCain campaign.

Another winner!

I believe that many voters with middle of the road ideals will stay away from McCain/Palin rallies as the rallies become increasingly negative.

If you know someone who is a business owner and who is still undecided, ask him or her if she thinks that Sarah Palin would do a good job running his or her business. When the business owner says "no," ask the business owner why he or she could even consider Palin for the VP spot.

That my fellow prisoners is an ad.

Very strong ad. It has the added benefit of showing McCain looking awkward and getting creepily close to the questioner during the "town hall meeting."

The Obama campaign took that little gem of info from Politico and made it into an attack ad in, like, 16 hours? That, my friends, is campaigning that I can believe in!

That quick turnaround was great!

"Bad Actors" Hmmmm That was Schwartskoff(sp?) and Powell's terminology during the first Gulf War for global malcontents and terrorists wasn't it? I can't imagine the phraseology is accidental. I think nothing Obama's camp does is accidental...

I hope this ad actually goes up. Not just on cable, but in every battleground state.

Btw, why is McCain going back to Iowa? When has he ever led there? When was the last time Obama was there?

Absolutely perfect. It's short, it stings the McCain campaign like Obama was wielding a taser, and it focuses on the number one issue on the minds of voters. This ad needs to be blasted into every swing state.

I thought Obama was the big spending liberal?

That's part of the beauty of this ad. It works for Independents just as much as it works for "true conservatives" who are pissed off at McCain's Mortgage plan.

What's unfortunate that prejudice, racism and partisanship will have millions of people vote for this joker and her side kick.

Why is Obama talking about the economy when the only thing anyone cares about are his ties to Ayers?!?!

My mortgage is behind, car payments needs to be paid... who gives a rat ass about racism.. the color i want to see right now is GREEN!! If donald duck can tell me how to not foreclose on my home, I will vote for him... DAMN IT!!

Obama is at 77(!!!) on intrade.

And on cue, Obama drops to 74.1 while Hillary futures inexplicably rise. This happens every day. Meanwhile, Obama is at 82.7 on Iowa Electronic Markets.

Great stuff, but I also hope Obama doesn't give up on talking about McCain's health plan - it's insane and that stuff really resonates.

My guess is Biden will be driving that talking point today.

Let's not forget the McCain-Bush Social Security Privatization scam. If Obama wants to strip away the older vote from McCain all he has to do is bring out that gem. The first time around when Bush was peddling this scam his approval from the senior citizen set dropped like a stone.

Seconded. He needs to hit this one hard. Especially in Florida. That scam was not popular when Bush pushed it, and certainly would be even less so now with the stock market tanking.

I saw the intrade... gosh, I hope they are right.

Good ad. However, I really wish they would come up with a new tag other than "more of the same." I just think it is flat now, and honestly the mortgage buyback plan is pretty distant from typical Republican policies. I get it that they want to tie McCain to Bush because Bush has an abysmal approval rating, but I've been calling battelground state independent voters for the campaign and they keep saying they are sick of hearing about Bush. I'm not saying that it's fair--the guy did basically destroy our country--but I'm just questioning the strategy.

Repetition, repetition, repetition. The Obama camp has been pushing this line from the beginning along with "Change" for the specific purpose of having it stick in the voter's mind on election day: Obama=Change, McCain=More of the same. Simple, very effective.

I think it is time to give these GOP senators, who doubt Mccain's sanity, some AIRTIME!!

This ad is targeted more at Republicans - Long time Republicans HATE this idea and are seething mad over it in some instances.

This is the best ad of the campaign, bar none.

If you have not seen it, this video outlines McCain's volatile temper and is the best counter attack against McCain's racist Ayers smear.

We must email, post and re-post it as much as possible...

Obama can't come out with this so we have to.

This is a very good ad. Clear, concise, to the point, and hit every element of McScums lack of qualifications. I love their focus and intensity down the stretch now.

Obama's ads blow McCain's away.

Announcing his cabinet nominees now might boost the momentum: Kerry at Defense, Kennedy Jr. at Interior, Gore at the U.N., Hillary at State, John Edwards as AG, Kleeb at Agriculture, Galbraith at Treasury, Huffington at NEA,
Bill Clinton at the FBI (seriously), Juan Cole - undersecretary of state for the Mideast, Moyers & Cronkite - special advisors to the president, Jerry Brown for NASA, Calif. Rep. Sheila Kuehl - Health & Human Services, L.A. Planning Director Gail Goldberg - HUD, Lawrence Tribe - Solicitor General (no, make that SCOTUS - tennies included), Andrew Bacevich - Undersecretary of Defense For Bringing Sanity to The Pentagon, Hightower - special advisor to Scott Kleeb, Joe Kennedy - Department of Energy, Buffett - Federal Reserve.

Ethel - Ambassador to wherever she wants.
