New McCain Ad Decries The Partisanship He Indulged In Repeatedly

The McCain campaign goes up with another ad about the economic crisis, decrying the partisanship and fingerpointing over the bailout-implosion that John McCain himself repeatedly contributed to with such gusto:

"Democrats blamed Republicans. Republicans blamed Democrats," McCain says in the ad. "We're the United States of America. It shouldn't take a crisis to pull us together."

One of the Republicans who blamed Democrats, of course, was McCain himself. He attacked Obama and Dems for helping cause the bailout collapse, and his campaign released an ad doing the same.

The new spot will be televised nationally.

Oh poor McCopycat. He's always late tothe game. So he sees Obama's "profile" positive ad, so he jumps on the bandwagon. Yesterday, Obama proposes the 250,000 FDIC new cap, thne he jumps on that too. Can he not think of anything original? Sheesh.

McCopycat

That says it all.

Tried to steal many times but failed every single time. Embarrassing and annoying.

What a boob. Obama has 4-5 such ads, and now McCain wants to hop on that train.

Why is the lighting for McCain's "talk to the camera" ads so fucking ominous?

Good question. The only thing (aside from incompetence) is that they want people to feel that these are scary times and in scary times you need a "proven leader with experience."

It looks like he took the viewer out to a romantic Mexican restaurant.

Probably shot at the AZ mansion he's trying to unload. Probably got a 2fer from the same crew that shot the internet tour video.

I think he's trying to convey a sense of intimacy. Intimacy with John McCain, an idea whose creep factor exceeds all bounds.

I expect that it has something to do with trying to keep the scars on the right side of his face obscure. I am given to understand that he is worried about anything that would prompt the pundits to mention his many bouts with cancer.

No kidding? Then I guess even McC believes that questions about his health are legit. Interesting.

user-pic

Yeah, unlike 3/4s of the left.

This election season beats everything I have ever seen rolled up into one big ball -

Huh. If anything, that lighting really highlighted the weirdness going on with his left eye. Whatever the reason for his eyelid being swollen or droopy, in this video you really can't miss that something is not right.

user-pic

It's his one eye. That was all I could focus on. And on a tv screen... OMG!!!

All I could think was: "We need a president who doesn't have diseased eye."

Last Wed, he was totally running amok. And hopes we've forgotten. Well I haven't!

No kidding! He looks like the ghost of Christmas past!

Haha...someone needs to intercut the scenes of his blaming other people.

I very, very much want such an ad to be launched from the Obama camp.

Hm. Says ad no longer available? Must be a plugged tube, or something.

oh ok got it... must have maxxed out their connections or tubez or ....

Obama will be in my hometown for his upcoming debate prep...this is great news for NC and win over NC on Nov. 4th.

Wow, McCain speaking directly to the people. That's a first. I see he's taping into Obama's approach to win.

O, McLame is going to go all nicey nice now and seem rational. This is how Commander CooCoo conned people into voting for him in 2000.

Unfortunately for McLame, Cmmdr Coocoo was consistent - thanks to Rove. And now everyone who voted for him so they could have him buy them a beer has just left with the bar tab and it's steep.

Doesn't work in McLame's favor.

user-pic

It's like he learned as a POW. First you rough up the voters and treat them with contempt. Then you offer a cookie.

Don't take the cookie - from the monster!

Watch his eyes. WTF is he looking at? He's all over the place. It's like watching Ann Coulter speak.

*shudder*

I'm no McCain fan, but that is a pretty low-blow. Ann Coulter is truly despicable.

Hey, wasn't she going to vote for Hillary in the primaries? I wonder what ever happened to that story...

"We're the UNITED States of America."

I LOVE THAT! I FUCKING LOVE IT!!! Not BLUE states. Not RED states. The UNITED States. Makes me proud.

Why can't Obama come up with stuff like that, huh? Can someone tell me please? Why can't Obama say something about the UNITED States of America?

Oh please, that's so 2004.

user-pic

God I mangled that sentence. That's embarrassing.

"And now, everyone who voted for him so they could have him buy them a beer just got left with the tab."

somewhat better, but I shouldn't have structured it that way to start with. Ack

lol... "...got left with the tab..."? Shit he stuck 'em with the tab, and then waited outside with the cops so he could bust 'em on the way home for drunk driving.

user-pic

I hates him, precious.

I've come to hate McLame as viscerally as I do Cmmdr CooCoo.

New Time/CNN Battleground Polls

Florida: Obama 51 McCain 47

Minnesota: Obama 54 McCain 43

Missouri: Obama 49 McCain 48

Nevada: Obama 51 McCain 47

Virginia: Obama 53 McCain 44

http://thepage.time.com/

Obama up in both NV and MO?!!??? Wheeeee!!!!!!! Is this the first time he's been ahead in MO? Does anyone know? Where are you A Missouri Voter?

Question: Except MN, all other states on the list Bush won in 2004, right?

It is not the first time that Obama has been ahead in a MO poll, but it is the first time post-convention that he has been ahead in a MO poll. The last time a poll showed him ahead here was back in mid-July.

MUAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAAHHAAAHAHHAHAH
That just makes my day, o man.... they got to be freaking out in the McCain camp.

That loud sound you just heard was the GOP crapping their pants.

Well holy flying batshit. I'm starting to feel like I'm going to wake up, and this whole day will have been just like that dream where my Lotto Ticket Retirement Plan suddenly pays off big time.

Dunno if any of you have seen it yet, but Tim Dickerson utterly destroys the Maverick Myth in the new Rolling Stone.

http://www.rollingstone.com/news/coverstory/make_believe_maverick_the_real_john_mccain

10 pages of Maverick bark-stripping. Dickinson covers everything - his favored treatment in the Academy, the Forrestal, Hanoi, his first marriage - everything.

And he's got people who were willing to speak on the record. An epic article.

user-pic

I'm in the middle of it now. But just wanted to pause briefly to highly recommend the article.

To me, as a psychologist, this picture completely fits with this guy's psychodynamics (as we say) - and lays out his longstanding character disorder better than anything I've seen. It' all fits together, just a like psych eval would.

You see the Drama Queen, the petulance, the arrogance, the acting out, hypocrisy.... etc.

been meaning to look at that...thanks for the link.

Totally devastating overview of McCain's life. What a nasty, little man.

user-pic

It's clear that their internals have told them beating up on people is the kiss of death. Of course looking at him... trying to be nice... looking like an animated Corpse... is also the kiss of death. But... what the hey? They've boxed themselves in with this old guy with the diseased eye.

Dear Lord...the response ad virtually writes itself.

Just splice in video of McCain and surrogates blaming Obama...send out to major cable outlets...and voila!

user-pic

Some 16 year old kid will have it done in an hour.

user-pic

Those CNN polls seem too good to be true - but they also make the other recent polls showing Obama leading in states like Virginia and Florida look less like outliers and more like reality. The greatest thing is that in these CNN polls, he's above 50 in every state except Missouri - and even there he just 1pt below 50.

Dear Lord...the response ad virtually writes itself.

Just splice in video of McCain and surrogates blaming Obama...send out to major cable outlets...and voila!

For those of you who want to compare the candidates on different issues, http://debate1on1.com is a great tool.It has upto the minute updated videos from both campaigns. Enjoy!

user-pic

Didn't McCain use Bill Clinton in his latest attack ad to attack Democrats.

So it seems polls that came out in the last couple days show Obama ahead in every battle ground state - is that true? Ohio, Florida, Penn, Virginia, Missouri, NC, Iowa. What am I missing?

NV

user-pic

Obama did this ad 5 times already, just without the patronizing vagaries and rah-rah crap. McCopycat, indeed.

Including at least two one minute versions and one two minute version.

So McCain wants Republicans & Democrats to put aside partisan difference and work together to blame the Democrats for everything.

What's more bi-partisan than that?

What's astonishing about this ad is that even here he can't relax and at least appear natural. The copy of the ad is avuncular (it could work if it were read properly), but he seems incapable of suppressing the fidgets and scowls.

But forget this ad. It his recent appearance before the Des Moines Register's editorial board that gave me more pause than anything I have seen from this man in the 15+ years I've been watching him. You can see clearly that it's all he can do not to leap out of his chair and punch the board member, a woman seated to his left, who asked him about the "sex education" and "lipstick" ads. And it isn't just that he delivered indignant, bald-faced lies in response. He did so with venom practically dripping from his lips.

All the talk lately is about Palin's qualifications. As far as I'm concerned, McCain is as poorly suited to the position as she is. A roman candle and a wet match.

user-pic

Well, let's see. On Sept. 3 Howie Kurtz profiled Ifill in The Washington Post, with mention of both the book and her role as moderator for the debate.
And today, one day before the dabate, a meme on the book and Ifill-as-moderator goes viral, thanksparticularly to Fox/Greta and Michelle M.

Q: What sayeth you Church Lady?
A: How conveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeenyunt!

user-pic

Who are you going to believe, me or my lying mouth?

way to go for a guy who got his undies all wedged up on the senate floor tonight. See he doesn't like to shake his opponents hand or look at him, even on the floor of the senate tonight.
