McCain Cuts Ad Attacking Obama That's Geared To ... West Virginia?
Is the McCain campaign worried about West Virginia, a state that Obama is making a play for but that most experts assumed was solidly in the GOP column?
A reader points out to us that McCain appears to have cut a paid radio ad, and posted it on the McCain campaign's YouTube page, that's specifically geared to run in that state:
The spot appears to be a remake of an earlier spot geared to run in other states that the McCain campaign has been advertising in.
"Clean coal is important to America -- and to West Virginia," the new spot says. "For West Virginians coal means thousands of jobs...But Obama, Biden, and their liberal allies oppose clean coal."
It's unclear if the West Virginia ad is actually running. But the spot has clearly been created for a West Virginia audience, suggesting that if it isn't running, it's the can and ready to roll if necessary.
We tried to learn more, but a McCain campaign spokesperson didn't have a comment. We'll bring you more when we get it.

Wow. WVa going blue would be awesome. I don't expect to see it, but McScum does have another two weeks left to dig his hole a lot deeper.

Hey TalkingPointsMemo readers... we're having a BIG final push today to raise money for Barack Obama!
Obama's campaign is deciding tomorrow which states they will campaign in, and Barack made a video message asking for donations to expand the contest into additional states!
You can watch it at:
http://tinyurl.com/finalpush
We have a rare opportunity to make the fifty-state strategy really mean something, and to fight for expanding the Democratic ranks throughout the nation, but we have to fully fund it first! The polls are showing a major shift to Obama -- Reuters/CSPAN/Zogby shows him leading by 12 points, up 9 in the last week.
We need to take advantage of this opening and McCain's limited finances to reach out to independents and conservatives in states which Democrats traditionally ignore, and show them that we're going to fight for their vote and for the future of their state!
We could have the chance to be the only party going live with ads in these states, while McCain is fighting desperately to hold onto states like Ohio and Indiana.
If we show the people of these states that we're serious about fighting for their votes, then they'll start to take the Democrats seriously, and many Democrats who are traditionally disheartened and unenthused in these states will gain hope for the future of the Democratic Party, not just nationally, but in their state and local elections too.
We have a rare chance to turn more red states purple by getting out the vote nationwide. Now is the only chance we'll get to do it. Don't lose that chance! Donate one last time today, and help create a major victory this year... and set the stage for even larger victories in states like Texas and Arizona in 2012!
Push for a big victory... donate one last time today!

It's kinda comic:
"Obama, Biden, and their liberal allies"
How many times did that phrase get used? Almost as a single word?
Who are these "liberal allies"? The Swedes perhaps?
How many West Virginians are going to be upset with more Swedes around?

Ward Churchill? William Ayers? HA AHAHAHAHA AHHHAHAAA!!!! Oh too funny. These guys have obviously been integral figures in the Democratic Party. That's all we ever talk about when we get together. "What's Chruchill gonna think about SB 129?" "Has the DNC cleared this with Ayers?"

McCain's just running out of money. There is just no upside to spending money in WVa if you are trying to fight for some sort of edge in PA. He wants to spend his money there and assumes (probably correctly) that WVa is safe.

No, no - let AP and anybody else keep pushing this meme. Obama's campaign knows what's really going on in the states.
The campaign also knows that the closer people think this race is, the bigger the Democratic turnout. (Bigger repug turnout too, but since dems outnumber them about 2-1, it won't matter.)
And I still think only a close race will keep the whacko traitors in the White House from launching nukes at Iran before Nov. 4.

Keating May Rear its Head in the Final Week:
"Campaign finance records have revealed that the law firm founded by Charles Keating - before he went to jail for fraud, racketeering, and conspiracy for his activities as chairman of Lincoln Savings and Loans - has made donations totalling over $50,000 to McCain's [2008] campaign.
"The Center for Responsive Politics has done the maths, and says: "In amounts ranging from $200 to $2,300, about 30 partners and employees of the legal firm Keating, Muething and Klekamp, as well as their family members, have contributed $50,200 to McCain's 2008 campaign. All but two of the contributions came in July, and all but three of those July donations were logged on July 31, suggesting they were delivered at the same time. As with any bundle of campaign contributions, it's difficult to determine which donor was the "bundler," the person who solicited the contributions on the campaign's behalf. McCain's online roster of bundlers, which purports to name any individual bundling $50,000 or more for the campaign, does not associate any of McCain's major fundraisers with the Keating firm.
"...the only Keating included [mentioned] in the bundle is William J. Keating, Jr., Charles Keating's nephew, who is listed as a partner in the firm and contributed $1,000.
"But it reminds us of McCain's role in 'The Keating Five,' a group of senators who received a total of $1.4 million in campaign contributions connected to Keating and personally intervened with government regulators to allow Lincoln Savings and Loans to make highly risky investments that defrauded thousands of investors and cost taxpayers $3.4 billion."

Like someone pointed out, this attack is a blatant lie. In that clip of Biden, he clearly misspoke and then went on to explain why he's for it. He talked about China and other countries developing coal plants regardless of whether clean cola technology develops, so we might as well develop it and sell it to them. A side note, someone called that position unfortunate, but we have to try and see if it can work. Coal will be burned with or without it.
So with nothing else working, McCain should try calling Obama a secret Jew. I heard it worked in a campaign in Poland. They can dig up a photo of him in a yarmulke and point out how similar "Barack" is to "Ehud Barak".
