Latest McCain Robocall Hits Obama Over "Bitter" Comments, Slams "Elitist" Dems
We've just learned of yet another nasty McCain campaign robocall: This one hits Barack Obama over his "bitter" comments about guns and religion, and repeatedly denounces Dems as "elitists" who "don't understand us."
A reader in Wisconsin who taped the call sends in the audio, and another reader in North Carolina reports hearing it today:
Mary Ann Benavides, a psychologist in Wisconsin, and Chris Jones, the director of communications for a real estate tech company in North Carolina, confirm to us that they received the call.
Here's the script:
I'm calling for John McCain and the RNC, because Barack Obama says Midwest folks like us cling to our guns because we're bitter. And elitist Democrats who want to control Washington have tried to completely ban handguns and most hunting rifles. The NRA said that Barack Obama would be the most anti-gun president in American history. These elitist Democrats just don't understand us, and we can't trust them with our second amendment rights. This call was paid for the the Republican National Committee and McCain/Palin 2008.
The Republican National Committee didn't return a call for comment.
This "bitter" robocall comes after we reported today that the McCain campaign unleashed a Rudy Giuliani robocall attacking Obama on crime. And we're getting reports of yet another McCain call hitting him on crime.
It's very clear that the McCain campaign has unleashed a new wave of robo-slime today.
Separately, HuffPo reports that GOP Senator Gordon Smith is now denouncing the calls.

Competence is the enemy of the smoke-and-mirrors GOP.

I know of 2 women who married about 10 days ago and are asking friends to please help them stay married.
This is such a ridiculous thing - to break up people who are married or try to keep people from marrying. Honestly, if the repubs really cared about families, they would WANT them to marry. What harm are any of them doing? We have many gay couples right in our very quiet, nice neighborhood. Indeed, our neighborhood being so quiet and accepting may be leading them to buy homes here. (perhaps we're not losing value here for that very reason?)
I just can't make sense of bigotry. Ok, I could think of all sorts of psychological reasons why people project stuff and need enemies. But all this negative energy put into something that really has nothing at all to do with the ones applying the negative energy.

(BTW My sister lives in Santa Clara and she's been out knocking on doors and singin' songs and a-carryin' signs sayin' hooray for our side and whatever else those left coast types do to get Prop 8 to die. :-) )

Yes, the McCain camp is running low on money. Expect the MSM to come out with the dirt on McCain as the campaign reaches it denoument. The truth is, they are out of cash...They have to consolidate their campaign and go after the only state they can. Even though, the chances of success there are unlikely. Florida is too expensive. PA is their Nuclear option

They can't.
For example - you have to be of a certain age in every state - it varies according to state statute. You can't marry your brother - anywhere.
I could go on - but that was one of the dumber things SFC ever posted.

NFC thinks it is alright to have gays pay taxes for his kids to go to schools, even though they don't make kids.
Yup according to NFC...It's OK for gays to die for their country (In the armed forces), but not OK to give them equal rights.

The McCain campaign can't even keep a straight story line with robocalls, for crying out loud.
First it was "Obama = a terrorist". Then it was Rudy ('nuff said). Now it's "He's an elitist".
This makes them look like they're just desperately slinging all the crap that they can. Which is, of course, precisely what they're doing, but it appears to obvious that it devalues their own message.
The McCain campaign's response? If Obama had just done those town halls with McCain, none of this would have been necessary.

Remember when the McCain Camp would make ridiculous web ads to garner free MSM coverage before the MSM caught on and stopped covering those. Then they moved to actual television ads, though would only release them in one area and a very small buy (sometimes aried only 4-5 times) to get the MSM coverage, before the MSM caught on there. That's what they're doing now with the robocalls - getting free MSM coverage. McCain or a surrogate gets asked to appear to defend the calls and they get to say "And they're completely true" and one more time folks will here "Obama" and "Socialist", "Terrorist", or "Elitist" mentioned together again.
It's all getting free coverage, allowing McCain to save up his remaining money for his final television commercial assault that is coming sooner than later.
