Labor Group's Mailer Blitz Hammers McCain And Bush For Wrecking Our Economy

The Obama-backing labor federation Change to Win is about to drop some 750,000 mailers in the battlegrounds slamming John McCain and George W. Bush for having "wrecked our economy," with a fun play on the question, "how do they look themselves in the mirror?".

A Change to Win official sends over an advance copy (click on the images to enlarge):

Change to Win says this is their second largest mail drop to date; it's going out to a dozen battleground states.

It really is worth noting that between mailers, ads, phone calls and shoe-leather house-to-house organizing, the big unions did play a key role in staking out an aggressively populist left-flank for Obama -- and against McCain -- in the key states, well before the meltdown hit.

Absolutely. Long past time unions started getting credit for what they do without publicity or thanks - starting with the five-day workweek and continuing right up through saving the nation in this election.

It's a dirty job; somebody thinks they have to do it . . .

Obama better be uber union friendly or he'll have hell to pay...

Well Jonze, I'd sure rather have a president beholden to labor unions as opposed to one who is beholden to Saudi Arabia.

Amen, Sister Tena!

They cannot say this enough AFAIC. I would really love to see this message about the Epic Failure of the conservative movement and their governing philosophy hammered home relentlessly from now on.

I'm mike from Arlington and I approve this message.

Say "G'night" Grampy McSame!

I like the message of "looking oneself in the mirror." Really hammers home the theme of denial for all the lies and bad decisions.

Off topic but has anybody seen this yet?

Muslim McCain Fans Confront Intolerance At Rally (VIDEO)

I cannot fathom why any Muslim-American would vote for McCain even before seeing this.

Just saw that. It's like these people take pride in being ignorant. Talk about a self destructive party.

user-pic

I think it was just theater.

You don't think that nut meant what he said?

*sigh*

Front page. They're rethinking playing the Wright card. Probably cuz Powell went and poked holes in the Muslim card.

Packs of lies. Built into houses of cards. Seem to be building a bridge to nowhere - but down.

I just happened to mouse over to that map up in the corner and saw this on Virginia:

Rasmussen Oct 20: Obama 54 - McCain 44.

I dare say, Virginia is approaching "out of reach" territory for McCain, which means that the election in general is approaching out of reach territory.

Also the Suffolk 9 point lead in Ohio, and the PPP 7 point lead in NC are reasons to be happy this Monday.

Bingo! Great observation that goes to how critical a strong labor movement is to the success of progressives running for office anywhere and everywhere. Which is why passing the Employee Free Choice Act is not only a matter of simple justice, and not only a device to get working families' incomes on the rise again; it's also a means of making this election the start of a wholesale political realignment.

I just got back from spending 4 days in Nevada on an AFL-CIO program of union members reaching out to other union members for Obama. One of the most inspiring experiences I have had is to see a big room full of 200+ union members, most of them men, most of them over 40, mostly building trades guys and all of them getting fired up to go out and ring doorbells to elect our first black president. Pretty cool stuff.
