Here's That Nasty Attack Ad Suggesting Obama Doesn't Care If Babies Die

This morning, we reported that an independent group was running ads in Wisconsin attacking Obama for supposedly letting babies die by hitting him for opposing an Illinois measure that purported to protect the lives of babies who had survived an abortion.

Now Mark Halperin has obtained a copy of the ad, which is the work of some group called the Committee for Truth in Politics, and it's a nasty piece of work that actually features a cooing baby:

In the next month, we're going to see an assault on Obama's character, patriotism, and fitness to be president that is unprecedented in American politics.

I realize that nasty attack ads are all McCain has left, but I am not sure they are going to work. McCain's reputation as a truth teller is in shambles. The reputations of his 527 surrogates are even worse.

If he wants to win this election McCain has to tell us what he is going to do for middle class Americans.

In my blog post http://tpmcafe.talkingpointsmemo.com/talk/2008/10/mccain-camps-psychological-mis.php

Bad grammar and all I tried to explain how I feel that this attempt to define Obama's character won't work as people have already made a character judgement about him be it positive or negative. The most vulnerable spot for Obama is if McCain somehow manages to convince people that Obama won't deliver what he has promised as many people are voting for him not because of cultural affinity but because of self interest.

Report from WI. Voters who are unable to obtain yard signs have turned to this novel way of advertising their "choice" -

spray-painting OBAMA on the lawn!

Cross my heart. I heard this story when buying groceries from a lady who works in the store.

"Choice" in WI - OBAMA on the ground!

Change in lawn care we can believe in.

user-pic

There ya go!

Mm, that is one tasty-looking baby.

"Children who do not remain silent shall be made into wallets." -- W.C. Fields

user-pic

I love Fields' take on kids.

LOL!

All the - o aren't they sweet and pure and innocent crap is crap. Kids are vicious because they aren't socialized yet.

And then they grow up into adults. Yeeeeshk!

user-pic

IT's true - we just hide it better.

;)

I just a kick out of the mothers who will stand there and say "my kid would never do that" when the kid is kicking the shit out of every kid in reach - ya know?

Fields said outloud what I think most adults would like to just up and say about kids - I mean, it's an adults' world - or it better be. I didn't go through this many years to defer to my neighbor's 4 year old.

Aaah my darlingchild there's the road Yeeeah see how often you can run across it..Yeeah.
While your at it ask your two friend John and Sarah to join you...Yeaaah

*sigh* In my ideal world, the Obama response ad would start out with a still of the 527 ad:
"I'm Barack Obama, and I approve of eating babies"

Obama, in kitsch apron over his suit, in kitchen, stirring a frying pan with wooden spoon. Turns towards camera. While taking off his apron:

"The legislation I voted against did nothing to protect infants, which was not already written into law. It was political posturing designed to attack the fundamentals of Roe Vs. Wade. And by that I mean a womens right of choice, not the American worker."

Walking forward, camera matching pace going backwards, a grinning framed portrait of McCain on the counter comes into shot, which Obama picks up.

"This is not a laughing matter, and what I don't find funny is the way my honorable opponent says nothing against these impeachments upon my character, which he knows to be false, while claiming to you that he upholds a standard 100% absolute truth."

Putting the frame down on the counter facing away from the camera

"He just looks the other way, when he knows he could stop this conversation with a few words simply admitting that we have no disagreement when it comes to the medical care of infants. America needs leadership which will not be distracted, nor allow distraction, when there are so many important issues affecting America today which we do legitimately disagree upon."

And that, my friends, is why I'll never be asked to work for a political campaign.

scurvy.

Any indication of where it will be showing?

OK, here is a thought. As discussed on TPM recently, McCain has already taken a massive hit on his reputation with his antics since August. This is unlike Dole who waged an unremarkable but not terribly negative campaign against Bill Clinton in 1996.

OK, here is the thing: if McCain goes scorched earth and doesn't call off the dogs (like these bastards) in the weeks to come, he won't markedly change the outcome of the election (Obama seems to have grown a nice teflon layer) but he does risk taken what little of his reputation is left and burning and burying that.

IF some old souls of the republican party, or some pundits with street cred on the repub side (eg David Gergen) could start spreading the meme that McCain can end the race with grace and dignity rather than with the stench of nasty, negative campaigning, maybe we can get through to him to rein in the dogs.

There is no guarantee that McCain has it in him, but do you think it is worth a shot?

McCain doesn't care about his reputation anymore.

If he loses, he won't run for his Senate seat when it comes up for election. He'll fade from the scene, riding into the Arizona sunset growling "you won't have the Maverick kick around anymore, you ungrateful sonsabitches."

McCain is so consumed with anger that whoever he once once, he's been replaced by a man hellbent on revenge.

Don't expect it to be pretty.

McCain thinks he'll be able to apologize his way out like he has in the past. "I got caught up in the election and did things I vowed never to do, I didn't show courage and for that I am sorry. I let Karl Rive disciples take over my campaign and they ran a terrible campaign without honor but it would have all been different if Obama had agreed to do the joint town halls like I wanted to".

Nailed it.

Oh, aye, and I would add that it's clear he's not far removed from Palin in terms of his effective readiness.

But the country is clearly in no mood for the Terrance and Phillip of the Republican Party.

McCain needs mental health care.

It (Mental Health treatment) is free and available at the VA...Not only does he have Senate Insurance he has Va Insurance and Medicare. And yet is against Public or is it Pubic Health Insurace.
By the way at the VA our Niagra is free.

McCain is betting the house(s) that he can take Obama down and win the Presidency. It doesn't matter what it takes to win AS LONG AS HE WINS!

Once he's in, he can redeem his reputation by all kinds of presidential heroism and wisdom. No one (he's betting) will remember the campaign after the halcyon McCain era.

And by virtue of such future results, his campaign tactics are actually heroric in nature.

Once a hero, always a hero.

Didn't Hillary already try that? Didn't do her a whole lot of good.

user-pic

Whaddaya mean didn't do her much good? She won 18 million votes. Obama only won 18 million, more or less.

Tell us how you counted Hillary's votes. I bet you included Florida and Michigan, didn't you? In other words, yours is a bogus claim.

user-pic

It was a joke, dude.

It would go a long way toward restoring public condifence if he would act like a fucking statesman. It's just disgraceful, and nothing justifies it. Palin sneered at America for 90 minutes.

But he is disconnected. And the moments of his campaign are likewise disconnected. And the contractions grow shorter, and now we have polar opposite rhetoric within the same sentence.

When the words finally fail, we'll all be told to paint ourselves a merry shade of shut the fuck up.

user-pic

O nice comment!

But how do you all REALLY feel?

OK, it may be quixotic, but boy would it be for the good of the country, eh? I do agree that this selfish old bastard wants it so bad he is willing to do anything and everything he thinks will keep him in. I just thought MAYBE that hook of ``honor'' would be something that might work.

It means that he would have to admit that he was running a sleazy lying campaign. He isn't going to do it (watch the TPM tv of the des moines interview with the editorial board). Politically it would be the same as throwing in the towel.

He doesn't have to admit it to go gracefully. He just has to send the 527s and his own campaign the message that he is closing down the negative ad shop. Now that will lead to some reporting, but he could easily cover for it. I think he could do this (bow out gracefully with honor) but it is probably true that he is unlikely to do so.

you know, every time i see senator obama with his daughters, i think to myself, "damn, that dude clearly hates kids."

i mean, seriously. this is such a load of shit. the fucking issue has already been asked and answered. just like every other BS attack the right is trying to drum up AGAIN.

i'd like to ask this group why, if they love babies so much, they support a guy who doesn't want them insured, doesn't want them educated, and then wants them either sent off to iraq to die, or sent to the electric chair to face the same fate.

"culture of life" my ass.

It's never about children. It's about certain men being driven completely batty, up a tree, and off the cliff (make the international sign for coo-coo clock) pick your euphemism.

The state of mind for some men, faced with women making a choice by right and by law, somehow allows the creation of a mental permission slip to go mad. And I mean completely.

How else could you disregard the life of a living, breathing person in front of you for a clump of cells that you will not enlighten once it is hatched?

These men need to sit down and shut up.

ABINGTON, Pennsylvania (AFP) - White House hopeful Barack Obama brought his motorcade to a halt Friday to dash out and buy a dozen white roses on his 16th wedding anniversary prior to a "romantic dinner" with wife Michelle.

Following a campaign rally here, the lengthy convoy of police outriders, Secret Service cars, staff vans and press buses ground to a stop behind Obama's black-tinted SUV outside "Penny's Flowers."

The Democrat spent 20 minutes inside, chatting with shop employees, picking out the roses and making a short declaration to accompanying reporters welcoming the adoption in Congress of a financial rescue package.

"These are beautiful, I like the arrangement and everything, it looks nice," he told employee Mary Darcy after she handed him the roses arranged with baby's breath and wrapped in cellophane.

The 47-year-old presidential candidate planned to present the flowers to his wife ahead of their anniversary meal in Chicago Friday evening.

Outside the florists, Obama delighted onlookers waiting behind yellow police tape by stopping to shake hands before getting back in his Chevrolet Suburban.

But barely two minutes later, the motorcade had halted again with Obama unable to resist getting out to meet a crowd of young schoolchildren lined up at the roadside, screaming in delight at the candidate's unexpected arrival.

In Michigan on Thursday, the Illinois senator told supporters that he had "a gift all picked out" for his wife of 16 years.

He said he was looking forward to a "romantic dinner" -- although the attendant Secret Service agents, press pool and inevitable crowd of onlookers might spoil the intimacy.

user-pic

AWwwwwwwwwwwwwwww -

That's the feelgood story of the day. Thank you Jonze.

No doubt he was just personally picking out which of them he would have kidnapped and slaughtered for his dinner. Although these sound like they may have been a bit too old for his taste.

Sounds like the behavior of a baby killer to me.

Ha! I KNEW it! They killed a baby and stole its breath just so Obama could have flowers!!!!

Why is the Liberal Media not reporting this?!

user-pic

cracked me up - you did!

user-pic

No really - good. Really.

This is working against them - it has worked against them throughout this entire election.

This is just going to make damn sure that Obama voters turn out in force because we'll just stay stirred up and angry.

Another perfectly stupid move by McLame.

tena, i hope you're right. i wish we had more empirical evidence to fall back on in our confidence. i have to admit, i think there's a *chance* these cynical, divisive adds could put a dent into obama.

user-pic

Darlin - there is. The CNN live poll during the McLame - Obama debate. McLame's lines plummeted every time he attacked Obama.

:)

It's things like this that make me dig deeper into my pocketbook to give some more money to the campaign.

Today I heard the whispers of hey... do you think Obama could win West Virginia? And I think if we keep reaching out for every vote in 'every' state that we can we might just turn up some unexpected victories. And the more votes we get the more united the country will be... so it helps in the long run as much as the short run.
And I think this is good practice for what it will take to keep the change happening once Senator Obama and our new congress are elected.

McCain cannot possibly win with a positive feelgood focus on the economy. Not gonna happen.

So he has no choice but to go hard and negative on Barack's positions and associations. The odds are that won't work either but there is a theoretical chance of winning that way as the GOP did in 1988 and 2004.

Given a 0% chance of winning positive and a 25% chance of winning negative, the latter must be picked. Any football team would rather win ugly than lose pretty.

By the way, I think McCain's tactics and strategy have been pathetic the last 2 weeks.

I would basically agree with what you say, except I would put it closer to 10% chance rather than 25%.

At this point, McCain has zero chance of winning, regardless of whether he goes positive or even more negative. The only question is whether he chooses to go out in the most ignominious fashion possible, or whether he tries to claw back some small shred of his faux integrity before its over.

To be fair, this ad isn't his, but we all know he isn't going to say its wrong.

user-pic

To paraphrase FDR - McCain has a date with ignominy.

Be all elitist, like you guys normally do.

But remember: in your stupid country, a lot of stupids will believe this ad. That's what Dear John is banking on!

user-pic

Ok -here's my standard answer to that bullshit -

Who are they polling to get Bush's 70% disapproval rating? The Polish? Gypsies in Romania? Martians?

Spare me.

user-pic

By the way, dear - elitist is what you are by claiming Americans are stupider than you.

I'm the one standing up for Americans being smarter and more decent than the GOP has ever given us credit for.

What Tena said. And if I, as an American, was an elitist, as you contend, would I be so gauche as to tell you to go fuck yourself? No? Well, I most assuredly am.

And hey, btw, its very discourteous of you to come here and insult me and my countrymen without at the least identifying your nationality. How can I be expected add the appropriate chauvenistic ethnic slur to my autocoital best wishes if you won't even tell us where you're from?

Oh, never mind, its on your profile. But dang it, somehow we never really managed to work up a good ethnic slur for the Dutch.

Well, they tend to kind of choke in the Euro Cup and World Cup.

user-pic

Their language totally sucks.

There ya go - dumbest language in Europe.

And wooden shoes. What's up with that?

Gotta give 'em props on the cheese and reefer, though.

And Grolsch Beer is pretty good.

It may be good in Holland, but by the time it gets here, it's pretty stale and skunky. Pretty cool bottle though.

We elites have our flown in so it's still fresh.

I'm so damned elitist that I brew my own. No going back to imports after you've had fresh unpasteurized beer. (which is inspiring another avatar change)

Home brews? What's next lattes?

Like the avatar.

user-pic

You know, I just give them props for Amsterdam - the hash, the reefer, the opium...

Actually, it is a very good language! It is perfectly understandable if you just know English, German and one of Swedish, Norwegian or Danish.

It is like "learn 3 languages, get 1 free!"

ja kunnen wij

user-pic

Almost as bad as American English.

i hear you there. however, i am reticent to put my trust in snap polls of politically engaged folks during a debate.

i'm not trying to discount you, and trust me i share your overall confidence. but there's still a little tug in the left corner of my gut saying "watch out." obama is a moderate, a pramatist tinged with an ideal edge of ideal, but he looks different. i just worry, that's all.

user-pic

Many people do worry. I did up until last night.

I'm not worried anymore. I'm not throwing a party until the day after he's won, but I am not looking for reasons why Obama won't win.

There's no point.

user-pic

Looks to me like there is some serious "shorting" of mcShame going on at Intrade, which now has him at 29.3 - even though Obama is currenly only at 70.

Shorting or dumping. Not sure which. RIP mcShame campaign. Not dead yet. But definitely in need of hospice care.

that was meant as a reply to tena upthread. btw, tena, as a long time reader and rare poster, i love your energy.

user-pic

O thanks.

I knew the comment was a reply to me but this commenting system puts them where ever it wants to most of the time.

user-pic

You see, Tena. Just a day or two ago, you were worried that somehow your language was bothering people. Apparently there's been an outpouring of support - which you have well earned.

:)

user-pic

I've noticed. I'm slightly abashed by it actually - I didn't expect this. I thought I was stepping on everyone's toes.

thank you with all my heart. it means more than y'all know.

user-pic

I'm no longer worried because we are at the end of this thing and there is hardly such a thing anymore as an undecided. Furthermore, McLame is going to have one hell of a time trying to change anyone's mind now - these numbers are no longer all that fluid - the race is hardening.

Those type of ad will make independants make up their minds and vote for Obama. The money they spend on this ad will just help to elect Obama and cause McCain and Palin to be viewed as nasty and dirty tricksters. Voters know better. Few media outlets will even run an ad like that--wasted money.

user-pic

I agree.

user-pic

I'm watching Olbermann and lots of different snips of vid of Palin - she wears a goddamn ponytail sometimes. You cannot be vicepresident of my country with a goddamn ponytail, bitch!

What if Barack had a ponytail? Huh?

user-pic

ponytail?

Dreds, mon.

I do, too. It's so over-the-top that it can't be right, and calls into question everything else they are doing. Keep it up! Especially in Wisconsin, they LOVE negative ads and lies...

p.s. How do these people look at themselves in the mirror? Seriously? It's all innuendo, distortions, and lies. If they can't win with the truth, what the hell do they have?

My only guess, it is the ole "the ends justifies the means."

Easy. They're about God's work, so they have His permission to do or say, quite literally, anything they want. Just like both sides in the Crusades and the Thirty Years War, the Inquisition, the Conquistidors, the Ku Klux Klan, the Serbs during the Bosnian Civil War, Al Qaeda and the Taliban. and countless other rightous men and women of God down through the ages.

"Especially in Wisconsin, they LOVE negative ads and lies..."

Yeah, not so much. Good snark.

VO from upcoming anti-Obama 527:

"Senator Obama, Why do you love to kill puppies?"

I am with you on this one

user-pic

I think Rich Lowry could have single-handedly ruined Palin's chances (if she hadn't single-handedly done it herself) with that masturbatory piece he wrote about her today.

That has to be fatal to any woman's aspirations for higher office - I'm not kidding.

Unless men are going to start just voting with their penises. What about it guys? LOL! I know better here - y'all don't have that reaction to her by and large. But any moron who votes for her with his penis ought to lose his job, his house, his car, his wife, his kids, his pension...

user-pic

I've always voted with my penis. Never thought anyone knew because I always had curtain drawn in the voting booth.

Going to touch screens has been a major improvement over the old method.

user-pic

Yes, it's a big improvement over those metal levers. Ouch!

The sacrifices we men make for our civic duty.

user-pic

LMAO!!!!

I wish I could vote with y'all -

Thanks. Now I'm bringing some sanitizing wipes with me into the voting booth from now on.

user-pic

New voter ID - give us your DNA now! (men, to the locker room, please!)

But they told to go to the Group W bench.

Just saw a commercial (on CNN) by Right Change attacking Obama and the Dems on Fannie and Freddie. Any scoop on these jerks.

user-pic

They're all braying the same right wing lying points.

The liberals and the coloreds blew up the mortgage markets!

It boggles the mind that anyone could but that crap, but we're talking wingnuts.

Here's two good links worth of refutation:

~

question for yall: in these last few weeks, mccain is gonna throw the trash at obama. how do yall think obama responds? does he continue to define himself and ignore the trash adds? does he respond with rationale? does he go negative himself?

i think he should stay above the fray, but address the attacks subtlely as they come. don't address them by name, but by subject. but basically stay above it, act presidential. be the safe choice.

what do yall think?

Stay presidential. Attack on the issues. Don't back down when they lie. Just as he has been doing.

user-pic

I think he's been doing it just fine - it's not like McLame hasn't already attacked him -

His campaign has been mesmerizing to me for its ability to stay on message and above the fray. Doesn't it seem like years ago that McCain began to be called out by the media for his lies, while O waited for them to finally do their jobs? By the time the O campaign began to respond, McCain's brand spanking new rep as a liar was firmly in place.

They'll handle it the same way over the next month of assaults.

I'm loving this campaign and have complete faith in it.

(sound of clapping)

user-pic

Mois aussi.

user-pic

Remember, he's got this community psychiatry team. No way is he going negative. He'll absorb the blows. And find creative ways to confront the attacks - without alienating anyone. Obama is all about bringing us together. That may sound cliche. But it's true. And it's their goal. Trust me on this.

user-pic

This is a pet hangup with me - this sneering at Americans and wanting to say we're all like Sarah Palin and so we will embrace stupidity -
'
I just found out from watching Rachel Maddow that that goddamn Mencken quote that cynics have thrown at me for years has been misquoted every damn time

Mencken did not say that no one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people.

Mencken said that no one ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American people - well shit, I agree with that. Hell most American's taste is all in their mouths - but that has nothing to do with intelligence.

An how about this one:

" The worst government is the most moral. One composed of cynics is often very tolerant and humane. But when fanatics are on top there is no limit to oppression."

hard to know how to take the first line. But that third line, wow...

user-pic

Yes - and that covers fanatics on both ends of the spectrum.

This is my problem with the hard left - for me, it's not a line, but a circle that meets at both extremes. A dictatorship is a dictatorship is a dictatorship - right, left, middle, up, down, whatever -

It's all about the doctrine and nothing about reality that includes busines and it's necessary to keep us afloat -

user-pic

Maybe the first line should have been translated as "the worst government is the most moralistic."

That would fit - if it was a translation.

user-pic

that makes a lot more sense to me - that other didn't parse.

user-pic

I know very well that David Plouffe and the rest have expected this dirt all along.

I think they're ready.

Obama has become more and more comfortable attacking the attack ads. It is not in his nature to show his outrage, and he has learned how to show what he feels in a way that resonates with the voter.

Typical, tired regurgitated conservative attack ad with no gusto nor substance. The ad is a wash!!!

user-pic

I love this - Jonathan Turley was just showing the constitution a lot of love and he said: it's idiot-proof; we've proven that.

That cracked my shit right up

Where did you see him.

user-pic

Rachel Maddow.

He was addressing her fears about Sarah Palin wanting more power than Cheney.

I wish I got MSNBC at my house.

Palin is truly scary. Especially knowing that the Bush neocons have gotten hold of her. Pat Buchanan, bless his soul, brought up the point that in Palin they found their pointwoman. Scary shit.

user-pic

Yes - I just found out she's been hanging with serious neo-cons for at least 3 years.

She is dangerous.

Rove latched onto Bush because he found someone who was malleable and who resonated with the average folk. Thank god for troopergate.

I'm sorry that I missed him...I like him alot. His appearances on Olbermann are nice reassurances that this world has not gone completely insane.

He was just on w/Rachel Maddow. I just love her!

Turley is right: there are serious charges awaiting the soon to be ex-gov of Alaska.

user-pic

Anticipatory Schadenfreude.

user-pic

Warum nicht?

There is a certain perverse pleasure watching conservative pundits trying to defend Palin and McCain (in this case Larry King). Meanwhile, those on the side of good can sit back and cite facts and smirk while the the PalinMcCain people bluster and gnash their teeth. You can hear it in their voice they see their ship sinking.

user-pic

Schadenfreude.

ja kunnen wij

user-pic

You're gonna make me sorry I said that, aren't ya?

I just haven't been to babelfish in awhile. It make feel multi-lingual and oh so elitist.

user-pic

Ay, dios mio!

user-pic

Republicants are all about getting the pre-born soldiers through birthing so they can be a drain on their parents' wealth then be killed later in the name of their god and country.

By accusing Obama of hating the infants, are they claiming him as a Republican?

user-pic

Richard.... minus an avatar. what some people won't go through in the line of duty!

user-pic

Now you've reappeared! This is getting freaky here!

user-pic

Mama mia!~

I actually did hear Italians in Italy say that. But I found out that they only use ciao very informally so it wasn't something I heard a lot. It was so cool - I ran into a trattoria I'd eaten in twice in Mestre (we didn't really eat well for a trip to Italy) on my way to the bus to grab a water and the guy who ran it said: "Ciao, senora!"

One of my lovely moments in a generally lovely trip that almost killed me - I've never been so tired or so sick when I got home.

LOL

Yeah, the food in and around that area of Italy leaves much to be desired. I prefer Rome, Naples and Sardenia (for the seafood). Much better and flavorful. Venice and the surrounding area is way too bland and overpriced.

Venice is always overpriced. Unfortunate.

user-pic

Adios - mes amis. (yes... I know)

glückliche Spuren, bis wir uns wieder treffen

I hadn't heard this yet from Obama today:

"...the polls changed and suddenly he [McCain] is sounding like Jessie Jackson."

LOL!

They picked the wrong state for this one. This shit doesn't generally play too well in WI.

My call: at some point in the next two weeks, McClown will mothball his Wisconsin operation. It ain't gonna happen.

You are exactly right.

This ad is just stupid. It is so over the top it doesn't fly. And at the end, you just wonder what the hell they were talking about and who the hell is 'truth something' running the ad. Asinine.

trying to make Obama into a baby killer at this stage is a pretty clueless strategy.

Yes, it's over-the-top quality makes it surrealistic and silly. I think people will catch on to it.

McCain's campaign is starting to resemble a movie:

Apocalypse Now

It's becoming quite obvious to the most casual observer that McCain, like Col. Kurtz, has gone AWOL from reality and many believe him to be at the border between sanity and senility.

Try Hogans Heroes.

The horror! The horror!

Palin would be more like Lt.Col Kilgore "I love the smell of moose farts in the morning", which she says smells "like...victory."

Baby Killer? Whats next Obama eats French Fries not Freedom Fries! Obama is too elitist to watch Baywatch!

Ok then try this:

Anyone who hasn't yet read the new cover story on McCain in RollingStone: it is available online.

It is a shock to read, is far more devastating than Amy Silverman's article in the Phoenix New Times back in early August.

A MUST READ! E-mail it to every conservative jerk you know. Fits hand in glove with Silverman's piece.

The guy is worse, far worse than W; a craven shithead with an obsession of becoming president.

As David Gergen and others know, the true disaster McCain et alia are making is the death of a viable opposition party in American politics.

It is now a question of what comes out of the ashes of the Republican, ie Dixiecrat, party now in power,,,,,, will it be a nasty Dixiecrat consolidation or the rebirth of the Republican party of Rockefeller, Everett McKinley Dirkson, Lincoln, TR and the olde New England intellectuals?

Indeed, as the NYT reports today, McCain will now be devoting his campaign to revealing that underneath the veneer of maverick, he's really a disgusting ayatollah of smear and hate after all.

Meanwhile in the real world R2K poll Obama 52 McFOS 40

Baby killer is supposed to be worse than celebrity?

The Committee for Truth in Politics belongs to William W. Peaslee, an attorney from Cary, NC. His office number is (919) 481-1992. Let him know that the American people won't accept this kind of dirty politics.

wow. i live in Cary. if you guys are willing to pitch in to pay for me to go underground i could be convinced to flex my patriotism all on his ass. lol

does anyone here wonder if he realizes that he is The Broad's tutor? he's become a presidential Sylvan learning center. republicans are a lot of things. most of all they are patient as money often allows wealthy and powerful people to be. they are already running a game eight years out (though i'm sure they hope its only four). McCain is being used to knock the rough edges off The Broad. that's why she feels free to contradict him. it allows room for her distance herself from the stench of the dying carcass that is his political career. this stopped being about McCain - if it ever was - the moment he caved to Karl and chose The Broad.

You put a link on the page that I wastefully clicked on to go see The Committee For Truth in Politics video(ad) and it took me to another page that did NOT have the video and so I came back to this page. If you want to put them down and show they are wrong then show some Truth in getting the video where you Said it would be. Do you think with one good arma and one sore arm I have the time and strength to keep clicking for Nothing!! How credible can u appear in my eyes when you get me clicking for nothing. I am really tired now and I Don't need to click for nothing! I've been wanting to see the video for awhile now and was waiting for someone to put it up. Please, in Reality put the Video up where you Said it would be. Then all can see it and come to there own Opinion!
