A Night At The Congressional Races
Here's tonight's run-down of the Congressional races:
Bachmann: It Is "Absolutely A Lie" That I Questioned Obama's Patriotism
Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) told the Washington Times that people are lying about her McCarthyite rant on Hardball last week. "I did not question Barack Obama's patriotism, I did not say he was anti-American," Bachmann said. "And the other accusation is that I was calling for members of Congress to be investigated on their anti-American views. That's absolutely a lie."
House GOPer's Ad: Dem Opponent Favors Driver's License For 9/11 Hijacker
Check out this new TV ad from Rep. Tom Feeney (R-FL), who is facing a very tough re-election battle. The ad accuses Democratic challenger Suzanne Kosmas of favoring driver's licenses for illegal-alien terrorists -- using a picture of 9/11 hijacker Muhammad Atta:
Feeney's problems here stem from his having been implicated in the Jack Abramoff scandals, and he's gone so far as to tape an ad in which he abjectly apologized for it. The Democrats have released internal polling showing him losing in a landslide, but he clearly thinks that playing the terrorism card could help him recover in this GOP-leaning district.
Ensign: The NRSC Will Help Stevens If He's Acquitted
NRSC Chairman John Ensign told the National Press Club today that the national party will step in and help Sen. Ted Stevens (R-AK), something it has shied away from doing since his indictment, if he an win acquittal in his trial. "The polling I've seen, it's all about what happens in the trial," Ensign said, predicting that Stevens will win re-election if he can first win his court case.
Constituent Files Ethics Complaint Against Musgrave's Campaign Tactics
Rep. Marilyn Musgrave, whose campaign has helped file baseless ethics complaints charging that Dem opponent Betsy Markey manipulated government contracts to benefit her family's business, is now getting a taste of her own medicine. A constituent has now filed a complaint against Musgrave, on the grounds that she has demeaned Congress by making ethics charges against her opponent without offering any evidence to back it up.
Dole Puts $3 Million Of Her Own Cash Into Campaign
Sen. Elizabeth Dole (R-NC) is putting $3 million of her own money into her race, in the face of poll numbers showing her losing to Democratic challenger Kay Hagan. "Our fundraising has been outstanding but, with outside liberal groups spending roughly $15 million in attack ads, Senator Dole believed she needed to put some skin in the game personally," a Dole spokesman told the News & Observer.
More Polls Show Dole Narrowly Behind
Two new polls give Senate candidate Kay Hagan (D-NC) a narrow lead over GOP Sen. Elizabeth Dole. From SurveyUSA: Hagan 46%, Dole 45%, within the ±4% margin of error. And from North Carolina-based Civitas (R): Hagan 44%, Dole 41%, within the ±4.2% margin of error.
Polls: Dems Sweeping New Hampshire Congressional Races
A new round of polls from Research 2000 shows Democrats ahead in all three of New Hampshire's Congressional races. In the Senate race, Jeanne Shaheen (D) 50%, Sen. John Sununu (R) 43%. In the First Congressional District: Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D) 48%, Former Rep. Jeb Bradley (R) 43%. In the Second District: Rep. Paul Hodes (D) 49%, talk-radio host Jennifer Horn (R) 35%.

We all owe Bachmann a big thank you- starting with El "who?" Tinkleberg. Not every day a politician touches the nerve of an electorate.
BTW Tinkleberg is easily the luckiest man on earth this past week. Santa came early to his house and with a million gifts.

Bachmann, what the f*ck are you thinking?
**Note: If I were Bachmann I would now deny that I asked her, "what the f*ck was she thinking?"

Do Republicans not understand that shows are taped? That we don't have to take her word, we can simply go to the tape?
October 21, 2008 6:25 PM | Reply | Permalink
But she said we misread her. Personally, I think the tape speaks for itself. It clearly shows her inserting both feet in her mouth.

Bachmann's justification is absolutely hilarious!
Ooooh, it was those sneaky yes-or-no questions of that librul media! ROFL!

Never seen the show before? I wonder just how easily disprovable that horse shit is.
To the videotape!

Amazing isn't it. I wonder if Alaskans have enough to recall her come Nov. 5th.
She'll probably beg forgiveness, blame the Troopergate white wash on McCain's Campaign, and use her book deal money to pay off the travel expenses.

Yup, more and more mavericky by the day.

Does Bachmann not realize that there is a tape of her saying EXACTLY what she is now professing she didn't say?
I know Tinklenberg is using the money raised to run positive ads, but damn she is begging for an attack ad that would juxtapose her Hardball quotes with her fervent denials.
Of course seeing as she was elected in that district, it means that there is more Republicans than Dems, meaning if he makes this a partisan fight he'll lose. If he takes the high road with the ads, then some embarrassed Republicans will throw him their vote. Bachmann won her district by >400 votes last election.

Possibly he could do a "funny" ad along the lines of "Have you seen her?"...?

Post election, someone needs to set up a "Sarah Watch"
This lady is so prone to misconduct of various types. And it needs to be tracked for future use.

Absolutely true, given that Chris Cillizza at WaPo's "The Fix" is proclaiming her the Republican nominee in 2012...the campaign for which he says will begin on November 5.

Could we please finish '08 first?

Why in God's name is Stevens even on the ballot? It'll be quite the irony if he's in office come February, though. A constant ethical blackeye.

They're already circulating a petition as I understand it. They need signatures from 10% of voters.
Plus there's that second Troopergate investigation, that has been widened.
And more stuff. In fact an Alaskan legislator yesterday called for an independent investigator to look into witness tampering in the first Troopergate.
More than that even. I think she's gonna be toast. But that, of course, won't stop the GOP from wanting to run her for national office.

So Michelle, was that your evil twin sister, or what?

And here's the story that just went up at MSNBC: "Palin's Kids Traveled at State Expense"--to events to which they were not invited.

It gets better and better. Swear to God, she'll be lucky if she's not running for president from prison in '12.

Cool! Make Libby burn her cash. No doubt she's speed dialing the RNC and RSCC for cash as well.
Go Kay Go!
