A Night At The Congressional Races
NRSC: We Are Not Pulling Out Of Colorado
The NRSC is denying reports that they are pulling out of the Colorado Senate race, a story that has been circulating on the blogs today. "Reports that we are pulling out of Colorado are false," NRSC spokesman John Randall told Election Central, adding that another ad is going up on the air.
DCCC Out-Raises NRCC In Loan Money, Too
The DCCC has taken out a $15 million loan in order to give themselves a financial boost in the home stretch of the election. This is nearly twice the the $8 million loan the NRCC took out in an attempt to even out their serious financial gap against the DCCC -- so the DCCC has responded in kind.
Report: NRSC Going Back Into Louisiana For Now
The Rothenberg Political Report says that the NRSC, after initially pulling out of their only conceivable pick-up opportunity, is now going back into the Louisiana Senate race. The NRSC has purchased TV time for next week, and will make a decision later on as to whether to continue into the final week.
GOP Congressman: NRCC's Attack Against My Opponent "Just Stupid"
Rep. Christopher Shays (R-CT) criticized the NRCC's intervention into his race, saying at a debate last that he was against a press release they sent out that accused his Democratic opponent of knowing about Rep. Tim Mahoney's (D-FL) sex scandal. "I pleaded with them, 'Let me sink or swim on my own,'" Shays said.
Poll: Dead Heat In Wyoming House Race
A new Research 2000 poll in Wyoming shows Democratic House candidate Gary Trauner with 44% of the vote, essentially tied with REpublican candidate Cynthia Lummis at 43% in this open-seat race. Trauner came very close to winning this deep-red state in 2006, and this one could be a nail-biter to the end even as John McCain will likely win the presidential vote in a landslide here.
Poll: Tight Senate Race In Mississippi
A Research 2000 poll in Mississippi gives appointed Sen. Roger Wicker (R) a bare 47%-46% edge over former Dem Gov. Ronnie Musgrove. Musgrove has been hammering Wicker on the economy, while Wicker has run an attack ad showing Musgrove receiving the support of a gay man dressed in Village People garb.
Poll: GOPer Has Solid Lead In Open House Race
A new SurveyUSA poll in the open GOP-held House seat in Kentucky gives Republican candidate Brett Guthrie a good-sized lead over Democratic hopeful David Boswell. The numbers: Guthrie 51%, Boswell 42%.
Dem Ad: Gordon Smith Is A Hypocrite Who Hires Illegals
The DSCC has this new ad against Sen. Gordon Smith (R-OR), hitting him over local newspaper reports that his family's frozen-food company has hired illegal immigrants:
"Now Gordon Smith claims he wants to crack down on companies that hire illegal immigrants," the announcer says. "But that's hard to believe -- because if you do that, who will package your peas then, Senator?"

After hearing for weeks how banks are unwilling or unable to give loans, it's interesting that both the DCCC and NRSC are capable of getting million dollar loans for their organizations.

If you have any extra money, I can't think of a better use for it than helping rid the Congress of Michelle Bachmann.

Bachmann is a fascist. Katrina is an unabashed liberal who pulls no punches.

I know Bachmann - it was vanden Heuval I was wondering about. I remember her now - she was a foreign correspondent and heartthrob -

I think you may be thinking of Christiane Amanpour. Katrina vanden Heuvel is the editor of The Nation (and has been since 1995.)

Testing: This is a test.
Had it been a real post . . . It would have said something witty and magical.

I love to see Gordon Smith squirm. Have I mentioned that lately? I love it. This ad from Jeff Merkley is absolutely dead-on accurate. He's a hypocrite of the first order.
