Video: Watch Lieberman Say A Thousand Things He'll Contradict Tonight
Tonight's the big night for Joe Lieberman: His address to the Republican convention, where the former Democrat will sing the praises of John McCain and brutally go after the party that nominated him for vice president only eight years ago. So just how much has he changed?
In a noble act of self-sacrifice, I watched many hours worth of Lieberman tapes from his presidential campaign in 2003 and 2004. On issue after issue, he strongly embraced positions that are 180 degrees opposite of McCain, who he's supporting with such ardor.

It's stunning that Lieberman has, for all purposes, switched parties over a single issue, Iraq. He took that loss in the Dem primary and has acted like a jilted teen.

No: IMHO, he's switched parties over a single issue, de facto alliance with Israel's Likud.
Lieberman doesn't say it like that, of course. He frames the goals he roots for as being what Israel needs, not what Likud wants. And I think he genuinely believes that giving Israel whatever they "need" will create security for the USA.
But wow. Give Lieberman an American Jew who speaks for what the majority in Israel really want, and watch Lieberman turn concern troll. Or McCarthyite.
I'm a disgruntled Jewish progressive and I support this message!

McCain wanted to offer him the VP but got talked out of it. That's what they call bad and good news.
I understand Joe lost his religion when told he was not the chosen one.
