On President's Big Convention Night, Mentions Of "Bush" Are Awfully Hard To Find

Yesterday was President Bush's big night at the GOP convention, but you wouldn't have known it if you were, you know, there.

We just checked all the full texts of the speeches from last night's festivities that are on the GOP convention's official Web page. The word "Bush" appears exactly zero times. The word "president" doesn't appear anywhere in connection with Bush.

Oh, and one other funny thing: The GOP's page of speeches, which included the orations of a bunch of unknowns, didn't even bother including the speeches given by the president or Laura.

The same number of times as the word "torture" was used to describe McCain's treatment as a POW.

Good point. I hadn't noticed that, to be honest.

Yeah. Sullivan has a good post on the topic.

It's really strange how irrelevant Commander CooCoo Bananas has become -

I remember Howard Fineman on MSNBC last night remarking that anyone would be hard-pressed to find the word "Republican" anywhere in/near the convention hall, either.

Didn't need the word "Republican" to know it was their Convention. All I needed was look around at all the old white people, and the empty seats in the upper deck.

Country before partisanship.

They are mentioning Bush and playing the part of his speech where he calls folks 'angry liberals'

He compares the "Angry Left" to the North Vietnamese Communists. A real uniter, our President.

It is amazing that none of the Republicans want to ask why the left (about 70% of the country according to the polls) are so darn angry.

LOL! O now we're the Vietcong?

LMAO!

They are so stuck in a time warp - it's weird.

Wasn't it the case that Bush's speech wasn't carried on the majors? On MSNBC at least, they said they weren't going to broadcast it because it was "too early".

Totally intentional.

You would think the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES might get a prime time slot, but they recognize what a disgrace he is the country.

Shocking Revisions To Republican Convention Schedule:

Read all about it:

It happened! We have the MP3 "highlights" to prove it.

Bush?

Bush who?

Bush is so unpopular he probably wasn't even mentioned in Laura's speech.

George HW "Poppy" Bush and Big Barb were introduced to applause by about three or four speakers in a row.

President Bush has finally become as invisible to us as we have been to him all these years.

Not invisible enough. I want a perp-walk/frog-march.
