Palin Claims "Obama-Biden Democrats" Are Regularly Attacking Her Family, But...
The McCain camp has just blasted out to its list a fundraising email by Sarah Palin claiming that Obama-Biden Democrats are waging frequent attacks on her family. From the email:
Friends, in the course of a few weeks, the Obama-Biden Democrats have launched attack after attack on me, my family and John McCain. They're desperate to win and they'll no doubt launch these attacks against other reformers on our ticket.
I didn't remember any attacks on Palin's family from Obama, Biden, or their top supporters. So I asked the McCain campaign what this was a reference to.
Here, according to a McCain campaign aide, are the attacks on Palin's family from "Obama-Biden Democrats" that the email refers to:
1) Obama finance committee member Howard Gutman questioning Palin's parenting and her willingness to take on the Veep candidate role when her family is so consuming -- a comment he subsequently apologized for.
2) Andrew Sullivan's demand that the McCain campaign release medical records putting to rest rumors about the birth of Trig Palin.
3) A user diary on DailyKos, which is of course the site of leading Obama supporter Markos Moulitsas, raising questions about that pregnancy.
And that's it.
Meanwhile, just today, on a McCain campaign conference call, McCain senior adviser Steve Schmidt laid into the alleged ties between Joe Biden's son and the credit card industry.
Late Update: Markos instant-messages me the following response:
"You could use a Daily Kos diary to justify just about any charge ever made. Same with the Free Republic message boards, etc. But that's patently absurd, and just more of her `rile the base' bullshit. If something stupid can be said, you can believe someone on Daily Kos has said it."

That's the best they can come up with?!?!

Those aren't earrings. Those are earmarks.
If they're so opposed to earmarks, why have they not attacked me for that?

Am I not as important as the NY Times? If not, why not? -- I have grey hair (too).
Do I have to hammer yet again on Palin's defense of rapists because rape is an "act of God"!?

These things that are pleasin you
Can hurt you somehow
On him being President:

The name of the game is "distraction". Distract from the state of the economy. Distract from how John McCain championed deregulation throughout his three decades in Congress. Distract from how McCain wanted to put our Social Security funds at the mercy of the stock market (DJIA currently down 350 points today). Distract from how John McCain wanted to do the same thing for our health care system that he did for our financial system.
Don't let them distract you. Keep your focus on the issues that matter. Keep your eye on the prize.

I enjoyed your very HONEST post regarding the character flaws of Miss P. I have been trying to clean up everything I say about her, however, you said it all.
Thank you!

I think Kos overstates the competence of dKos bloggers. There are several stupid things we have not said:
a) Having the VP involved in a religious cult with a military arm is a good thing.
b) McCain understands the economy.
c) The lying is just a transitional thing and will stop if McCain wins.

Aside from the few they could cite, the claims about the pregnancy were made the weekend she was announced and have all but disappeared. I believe they disappeared about the time Obama told everyone family is off-limits!!
But you know, I still hear a lot of slanderous crap from McCain/Palin Republicans about the Obama's... like they're terrorists. I find the terrorist references far more insulting than who's the baby's momma?

Apparently during the 5 minute vetting of this idiot and the subsequent 2 minute meet-and-greet with McCain they forgot to tell this airhead that life was going to get tough outside of the woods. Her family would be under a constant national microscope and there would be a lot of people, A LOT OF PEOPLE who didn't like her.
So toughen up your skin sweetie because you're in for a bumpy ride. You made your kids fair game when you used them so blatantly as props. You espouse your pseudo religious values and then force your daughter into a shotgun wedding, claim you're fine and dandy with her pregnancy, and espouse rights for your family that you wouldn't allow other women. And lets not get started about how many times that poor DW baby was passed around and used.
Maybe Phil Gramm should take her aside and set down some rules about who can and can't whine.

Today is the day we witnessed the unraveling of the McCain campaign. Their accusation has got to be the craziest, funniest, weirdest shit i've heard in quite some time.

Does this mean we can start holding the McCain campaign responsible for all the nuttiness posted at No Quarter, Free Republic, and World Net Daily? We could make them spend the rest of the campaign denouncing all the craziness on those sites.

Another song for McCain...
I never knew a man
could tell so many lies
He had a different story
for every set of eyes.
How can he remember
who he's talkin' to?
'Cause I know it ain't me,
and I hope it isn't you.

I am so sick of Palin and McCain's whining. This female is a FIRST CLASS HYPOCRITE! The sight and the sound of her voice nauseates me. As far as her dysfunctional, it was she that paraded them across the stage...a privilege that the Obama family would not have been granted if his daughter was pregnant and not married. Obama has worked hard to get elected in spite of the many odds that he has faced...this PitBull w/lipstick(afemaledog) just rolled her and all of her children like she is entitled to be there simply because she is a female. Obama have demanded that his camp would not attack her family, and this is a ploy to get sympathy before the great debate...and to put Biden on notice. To the racist out, the McCain are insulting your intelligence without the benefits

Well, here's some more Palin-bashing from a Left-wing blog: Take your sessesionist First Dude husband, no abstinence-practicin' daugher and her baby-daddy back to Alaska where all the Republicans who you pissed off can feast on the remains of your political career. And, when you die, I hope polar bears, wolves and moose feast upon your carcass.

Just picked this up in a comment on a NYT piece. Does anyone know a more about this?
"Did Bill mention Palin today ? I just saw Sarah Palin have a total emotional meldown today at an appearance with McBush. A reporter asked a simple question and Palin started yelling in a shrill voice about the media being shamefull, picking on un wed pregnant teenagers and sending investigators to spy on her. McBush was clearly startled and had to cut her off. if this is Pit Bull Palin under pressure. Better keep this Pit Bull out of the pit."

Sarah Palin's lies are the political issue. We deduct that Trig Palin is her grandson. Palin, the mismanaging absentee mother is the issue: we deduct that the 17 year old high school dropout daughter bore one Downs Syndrome child in April 2008 and now is pregnant a second time by a high school drop-out
boyfriend. The issue is that Sarah Palin has no moral compass whatsoever: an unmarried twice pregnant teenager, a cover-up lie about the April '02 infant's mother, a husband who operates as a
shadow governor bullying state employees far and wide and who tried to fire the brother-in-law, Trooper Wooten, so the Trooper when unemployed couldn't get custody of his children. Sarah Palin's
family values read like a seedy backwoods tragedy.
And the Republicans propose that Palin can direct
the government of the USA? NOT.

I have to agree with HelenD about the quality of TenaX's posts. But this site is loaded with quality, with some exceptions naturally.
I can't credit them all by name especially since my memory seems lacking.
TheraP, TrollCritic (I really miss those posts, where did they go?), well on second thought...

As for fogu2 and the like, I am not a democrat. I am an independent voter who has not been pleased with either party. I have read the interviews, speeches, and watched the clips when available. Whatever Senator McCain may have been in the past, candidate McCain has dishonored it.
I wanted to explain why I came to this conclusion and appeal to you give both sides careful consideration with as little bias as possible. But I realize it is a waste of time.
You aren't going to believe me when I say I came to my conclusion without bias. And since You obviously come here because you enjoy trying to get people riled up, I have to wonder whether bias is playing a major role in your support of McCain. Actually, I sometimes I wonder if you aren't a deliberate caricature.

The wheels are seriously coming off the cart. Forget a vetting process, did they even bother to tell her the ins and outs of running for an executive level government position? I would assume by now that someone has told her what "it is exactly a vice president does all day", but good god, she makes it sound like the only prerequisite for running for higher office is to be a "good person" and have a wholesome looking family.
I hope Obama can start to capitalize on this and find a way to attack McCain on his dismal record on veteran's rights and benefits. Going by his record, it appears that Republicans love the war, they just dislike the soldier who fights in it.

Dear Sarah :
If you had any right what so ever to be the next Vice President you could answer a single goddamn question without a screener or old daddy McFuckup to rush to your side your sneering coward. And if your fucked up bohunk family couldn't take an ounce of scrutiny then leave them AT HOME...( they obviously didn't read the Good Book you flog everyone else with ) You fed them into the sausage machine and posed them against their will for your own congratulation, and when the equal but opposite occurred, you realised like in so many other areas of your life , you were Simply Not Prepared.
Your team mates have been purely reprehensible in regard to other candidates home lives and personal details both fact and fiction, so I say Your Rules you repugnant fake .
Like all republicans ,you talk a good game and crumble in the rumble. Cowards the lot .

NPR played a sound clip this morning of Crash McCain's rally in Scranton yesterday. During a Q&A segment, one woman got up and yelled at "the media" for being so mean to Palin about her Juno-esque 17-year-old, and the crowd roared.

Please, no more about Sarah "I bite my tongue 'cause it's cute" Palin. Her impact on the media is huge. She's a primary topic in the blogosphere, "People," and the supermarket check-out mags. But her impact on the election is neglegible. Because of her, McCain has picked up a few votes on the far right, and lost a few more in the center. That's it. So no more about the Wasilla Hillbillies. Or else. If I'm forced to come back and comment about this again, I'll be armed with swear words, smears and pith.
