New Obama Ad Blasts McCain's "Fundamentals" Line, In Spanish
The Obama campaign has released a new Spanish TV ad for Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico and Florida, hammering John McCain on the economy -- yet another indication of just how much the financial crisis has re-centered the campaign on issues like jobs, health care and housing, rather than foreign policy or immigration.
The ad goes after John McCain's remarks that the fundamentals of the economy are strong:
There is also a radio version that you can listen to here.
The English translation of the script is available after the jump.
ANNOUNCER: For the thousands of mothers and fathers who have lost their jobs...
For all the families at risk of losing their homes...
For every child out of the 45 million people who have no health care...
How is it possible that John McCain can say?...
JOHN MCCAIN: "The fundamentals of our economy are strong."
ANNOUNCER: The fundamentals of our economy are strong?
Maybe John McCain and the Republicans don't want to bother themselves with the prosperity of our families...
But for us, there's no greater obligation.
BO: I'm Barack Obama and I approve this message.

American people are strong,
fundamentals ofour economy are not!

Nice.
I hear Palin met Karzai.
Wonder if she pulled a Sharon Stone on Karzai and caused him to pop a tent in front of the reporters.

Now, I admit I'm probably among the other 2 guys on the planet who share this view, but I just don't see it. She is ugly in every regard, a painted thing, standing for nothing, and about as attractive as Bar Bush doing the Quaker Oats dude (I'd actually heard they were one in the same person...)
Instead of a tent, I'm digging a posthole.

Marioth: Methinks Palin is a classic butterface. She clearly has nice legs (those $600 pumps that Cindy or Nicole Wallace or whomever picked out for her help) and is in excellent shape for a 44-year old who has pumped out five (four?) children. She definitely ain't no Mrs. Kucinich.
Since you brought it up....

I don't find her pretty at all myself and I think it's an insult to Tina Fey to get too carried away with that comparison.
Tina Fey is lovely.

I'm with you. She's not repulsive or anything, but not a beauty that I would rave about either.
I'm guessing that the "hot" reputation came in part from from a) knowing that she won a beauty pagent in the distant past and b) that she does stand out as more attractive in her comparison group of middle aged politicians. But, c'mon, she's not anywhere near Steph Herseth's league, for example, in terms of looks. And her attitude and dress are total turn offs unless you have some interesting fetishes.

These slew of Spanish language Obama ads must be working, because according to the polls Obama is ahead 7-9pts in Colorado and New Mexico.

Unbelievable than the best Obama ads recently are the ones in Spanish. They go straight to the point and deliver the message clearly.

Anyone else think that they should do the same ad in English?

On my way back to the office just now I heard a McCain ad on the radio (paid for by the RNC, btw) all about change and health. It repeated his support of stem-cell research probably 5 times.

Now how does that fit with his running mate's beliefs? Someone needs to ask the two of them to straighten that one out.

The pandering is reaching Romney's territory. It is at its own peril, though. You can't say whatever it suits you politically all the time, people have short memory, but have some. Even the conservatives are tiring of this act (read the column by Will today at the W. Post)

As for the topic - Spanish language ads about the economy: the economy always plays in New Mexico, no matter what is going on in the rest of the country. This is, I believe, the 3d poorest state in America.

We must appoint hard-core anti-illegal immigration politicians, governors, mayors and underlings. Unless we do we may lose our sovereignty and be overwhelmed by the illegal invasion from third world countries. November is the absolute deadline to enact a one-chance Federal law, to stop this abhorrent occupation.
If we enact the Federal SAVE ACT (H.R.4088) enforcement only law. Millions of illegal aliens will leave by self-deportation. ATTRITION! No job, they will leave of their own accord. Only anti-American groups and Liberal-Democrat-Socialists are stopping this law. ASK THEM WHY?

IF WE DON'T STOP IT NOW, THEY WILL KEEP COMING..

WHAT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE DON'T KNOW..?
THEY JUST DON'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT?
Because illegal aliens cannot be issued Social Security Numbers, the IRS issued TIN numbers which allowed them to get house mortgages. Not even requesting SS# these people were given bank loans and now walked away from them.
How much has illegal immigration contributed to the current mortgage mess? .... Not just sub-prime, but about 80% illegal aliens, by his estimation. ...

Don't forget... the big prize is Florida, where Latinos usually vote Republican, about 60/40.
If we can permanently shift that group into more Democratic territory, while increasing black turnout, Democrats will stop losing key races in Florida by half-a-percent, like last time.
Given the gradual shift that's going on in America, there is no reason that Democrats can't start to build a longterm majority that will take them through the next 16 years.
